Empowered and Unafraid: How One Woman Became a Witch Hunter

By admin

A woman who hunts witches is a concept that dates back centuries, rooted in the fear and superstition surrounding witchcraft. Throughout history, women who were accused of practicing witchcraft were often hunted down and persecuted, resulting in countless deaths. The image of a woman actively seeking out witches has been romanticized in literature, movies, and folklore, embodying a sense of power and vengeance. The idea of a woman hunting witches can be traced back to the infamous Salem Witch Trials in 1692, where a group of young girls accused multiple women of being witches. This marked a dark chapter in history, as innocent women were interrogated, tortured, and executed based on accusations of witchcraft. The hunt for witches during this time was driven by a fear of the unknown and a desire to maintain control over societal norms.

Just posting to let people know about my new book, called 10 Types. Early review comments are in! available from www.mindfx.co.uk

“More than anything I’ve read in the last year (maybe two) I believe this is revolutionary. I’m going in for a second read now.”
Tom Bennett

10 Types contains 5 strong, entertaining performance pieces for the working mentalist. The methods are fresh and have fooled rooms full of magicians. Included is Steve’s original Spanish Dictionary Book Test and his incredible, hands off breakthrough stage envelope test:
A large bowl of envelopes is on the stage. It could be 20, 50, even 500! A spectator takes as many as they like and distributes them around the room. Participants open the envelopes. Inside each one is a red, a yellow and a blue piece of paper. They shout out what is on the red piece – all except the chosen person who silently sends it to the performer. This is repeated for the yellow and blue pieces, proving that each one is (genuinely) different. The envelopes are unmarked, everything can be examined and the performer can be stood far away, but without any further process can reveal what the chosen person is thinking.
Also included is a strong five phase Q&A style routine. Participants write a truth and a lie on two pieces of paper, then seal them in envelopes. One of the participants collects in the envelopes and mixes them - the performer doesn't touch them. The participant chooses, opens and reads one, and the audience votes on which is the lie. The performer successfully divines who wrote the statements – from across the room - and which one is the lie. That's Phase One! You then start to divine the actual statements written, as well as identifying who thought of them. The envelopes and pieces of paper are not marked.
Close up routines include a pseudo psychometry test using a few ungimmicked pieces of paper and a pencil, and a hands off game of Cluedo.
This is a physical book with supporting videos and contains brand new, cutting edge mentalism using new principles.

This is an excellent piece of work. The routines are all fantastic and the methods taught in this can easily be utilised in creating customised effects. I haven’t come across these methods before and I can already see they’ll be a useful addition to my “toolbox” of principles. Solid and inspiring work throughout that culminates in one of the most layered, interesting and cleanest Q&A routines I’ve come across. Love it!

Thank you to everyone who has contacted me with positive feedback on 10 Types. It really does mean so much to me that people like it. Here are just a few of the unsolicited quotes from people who have enjoyed it:

"Fantastic routine this one as are the others in this book. This method is true genius." Martin Peirce (talking about the Spanish Dictionary Book Test, one of the routines from 10 Types.)

"I picked this up at Blackpool and it's pure genius." (Feedback from a Mindfx customer who purchased at Blackpool.)

"My mind is literally RACING with ideas. It's all so sneaky and right up my street! I'm on my second read now and I'm just mind blown. Like, seriously. The pseudo psychometry routine is GOLD!" (Aidan O'Sullivan)

On the third DVD, I did include some great flourishes as a bonus. Techniques on "Juggling" are far from what I offer. If you are interested in that - check out the "extreme card manipulators?" I am a full-time magician. The flourishes I designed to be quick, beautiful moments in between the magic, that are very effective and dependable in professional everyday use as a real-world performer. (A professional magician has no use for "juggling", such as 30 second multiple packet cuts, spinning cards under water, etc. as they are truly not useful or applicable for the magi presenting an aura of elegant sleight-of-hand artistry.)
Woman who hunts witches

The woman who hunts witches is often portrayed as an empowered figure, embodying a sense of justice and retribution. She is often depicted as skilled in combat or possessing supernatural abilities herself. However, it is important to note that the historical reality of witch hunting is far from the romanticized version often portrayed in media. Women accused of witchcraft were often marginalized members of society who were victimized due to their gender, social status, or perceived differences. Many of them were innocent victims of prejudice and hysteria. In today's context, the idea of a woman hunting witches can be seen as a metaphor for challenging oppressive systems and standing up against injustice. It represents a woman refusing to be silenced or controlled, fighting against discrimination and prejudice. The concept of witch hunting has transformed into a symbol of resistance, with women reclaiming the narrative and using it as a source of strength and empowerment. In conclusion, the concept of a woman who hunts witches carries historical and cultural significance. It represents a complex blend of fear, power, and justice. While it has been romanticized in popular culture, it is essential to remember the horrifying reality of witch hunts throughout history. The idea of a woman hunting witches has evolved, becoming a symbol of resistance and empowerment in the face of injustice..

I was hoping for a fresh take on the witch genre, but this book fell flat and failed to leave a lasting impression.
