Finally got time to finish the book, and wow that last section was arguably the best for me. Very exciting. Action-packed. Will definitely won me over. Switching sides from Aidon to Will haha! One highlight moment for me was when Aidon’s mom threw the silver dagger to him so he could plunge it into the king. So badass of her! You know I do have to say that this book has given me Shadow and Bone vibes the whole time. I think it’s mostly Aya being the second saint and having a ton of power. Then there’s the travel to the capital of a country and the palace, ships, etc. Maybe it’s the setting. I’m getting bad vibes from the epilogue because Tola let slip about Will. Now Gianna doubts Will’s loyalty, so when Aya and Will’s ship lands in Tala…I bet they aren’t going to receive a warm welcome. And the extra Fairyloot chapter? Just made me like Will even more now! When it’s revealed that Aidon “betrayed” them, I did believe it for a second because I had thought he was good at first. But then I doubted it because everything he’s done so far just doesn’t line up for betrayal. So I suspected he would turn around again. I think the sequel will deal with Gianna as a primary concern because now Aidon controls Trahir and that side is settled now. There probably will be a journey through the Midlands to gather info and spy on Kakos, if not an excursion into Kakos if they can. I hope the wolves get more time to shine in the second book! And I hope poor Tova gets released. I agree with you. The ending was so explosive and I devoured it in one sitting lol. Makes me really want to find out what happens next! Will and Aya’s love really was devastating in how much they would do for each other. I’m worried they’ll be torn apart in the next book.

She then starts a fight and unleashes pandemonium as a huge brawl begins, giving Aya a chance to slip out and catch the tradesmen she just heard about. When I started reading this book I wasn t sure how much I would like it because at first it was difficult to get into it for all the world building there was.

–!SPOILERS!-

The book starts with a bang as we watch Aya use her Persi affinity to persuade information from a barkeep. She then starts a fight and unleashes pandemonium as a huge brawl begins, giving Aya a chance to slip out and catch the tradesmen she just heard about.

She follows a man who turns out to be Will, the Queen’s Enforcer. Apparently these two hate each other but do I smell enemies to lovers?

They return to the Quarter and Aya has a nightmare about Will lying at the bottom of a wall with his arm broken. Oh wait, it’s a memory! Aya persuaded Will to jump and she’s never forgiven him for his consequently attempting to get her thrown out of the Dyminara.

Aya and Tova, the Queen’s General, discuss preparations for the Dawning: a festival to celebrate Saint Evie, whose sacrifice hundreds of years ago called in the gods to abolish the Decachiré who were trying to usurp the gods by making their Visya power limitless.

We switch to Will’s perspective and find that he has been up all night interrogating the Trahir tradesmen using his Sensainos affinity. The Tría meet with Queen Gianna to discuss and Will reveals that the tradesmen were buying weapons for Kakos – the lower third of their continent that had been ostracised as they were said to be searching for a way to attain raw power. They decide not to act rashly and accuse Trahir of being in on it as they do not want to spark a war.

Later, Aya trains with her bonded, Tyr, until she dislocates her shoulder and has to go get healed. Ick.

She takes Tyr back to the barn and finds Will there with his bonded, Akita. Will confesses that he can feel the pain in Aya’s shoulder and the pain of the tradesmen from the interrogation. He can’t shield properly. That can’t be good.

The next day Aya, Tova and Will help train young Visya. Aya and Will demonstrate and Will manages to find a gap in Aya’s shield to prove he can make her feel something positive. Aya’s shield is usually untouchable but there’s something about Will…

At the Dawning ceremony, we are reminded that the gods will not spare humans again if they have to return. However, the Conoscenza says there would be one last failsafe, “for a second of her kind will rise, born anew to right the greatest wrong.” Ooh, who could this be?

Aya and Will catch up on recent developments while they dance but they are interrupted by screams – the Athatis have come down to hunt. Aya tries to lead them away but Will stops her and they both end up running. Smooth, guys.

Aya blacks out as Brien has her pinned on the ground. The last thing she sees is Will feeling her pain and screaming her name. But wait! Just before she blacked out, it seemed like Aya managed to persuade the wolves to come to her. But that’s impossible, right?

It turns out that someone intentionally blasted a hole in the wall of the compound and sent the wolves off to hunt. Who would do such a thing?

Aya tells Tova that she thinks she persuaded the wolves to follow her. Tova advises her not to tell anyone else as it could be mistaken for dark affinity work.

Later, Aya visits Tyre, despite orders to rest, and tells him it’s not his fault. She vows to make whoever did this pay.

Wow, that first section certainly peaked my interest. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

What are your initial feelings on the book and its characters so far?
Who do you think is the Second Saint they speak of?
Do you think Will is as bad as Aya thinks?

I can’t wait to hear all your thoughts!

Reviews for "Exploring the Curse of Saints: Dive into the World of Online Reading for Free"

- John - 2/5 stars - I was so excited to find an online reading of "The Curse of Saints" for free, but I was sorely disappointed. The audio quality was terrible, with constant static and muffled voices. It was almost impossible to understand what was being said. Additionally, the website hosting the reading was poorly designed and difficult to navigate. Overall, it was a frustrating experience that didn't live up to my expectations.
- Sarah - 1/5 stars - I cannot believe how awful the online reading of "The Curse of Saints" was. The narrator had this annoying monotone voice that put me to sleep within minutes. It was clear that there was no passion or emotion behind their reading, and it made the whole experience incredibly dull. On top of that, there were constant interruptions and advertisements popping up, making it impossible to get fully immersed in the story. I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a captivating reading experience.
- David - 2/5 stars - I appreciate that the online reading of "The Curse of Saints" was offered for free, but that doesn't excuse the lack of quality. The audio was filled with background noise and echoed throughout, making it difficult to focus on the story. The pacing of the reading was also off, with long pauses and awkward breaks that disrupted the flow. Overall, while I appreciate the effort, I would have preferred to pay for a higher quality reading of this book.
