The Curse of Bridge Hollow is presented as a horror comedy but is underwhelming in both aspects. Even if you are interested in why the Halloween decoration is coming to life to haunt people, the story doesn’t have any thrilling or exciting moments. In horror movies, the characters often run away from danger. Here also, the characters, especially kids, run and scream when the clowns try to attack them. However, the entire sequence was turned into comedy which wasn’t funny at all.
The humour falls flat, and the horror is too lame. Even the clowns and spiders don’t look creepy. Maybe it’s a movie for kids under the age of 10. But they won’t understand what’s happening because of the weak story. Would the movie be intriguing if it was an out-and-out horror story where decorations wreak havoc? Well, it would’ve made for an amazing watch if done right.
Coming to performances, Marlon Wayans has tried his best to be funny. But the weak dialogues don’t do justice to his performance as Howard. Priah Ferguson has played a smart and confident Erica in Stranger Things. Priah’s character Sydney is equally smart, sans the sassiness. The rest of the cast doesn’t have much to add to the story but plays their parts well.
