"Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi" is an anime series that was originally aired in 2002. It is a comedic and fantasy-based show that revolves around two childhood friends, Sasshi and Arumi, who find themselves transported to different alternate realities of a shopping arcade called Abenobashi. Each reality is themed based on a different genre, such as fantasy, horror, and science fiction. The main plot of the series follows Sasshi and Arumi as they try to find their way back home by hopping through these different realities. Along the way, they encounter various eccentric and bizarre characters, each with their own storylines and quirks. One of the standout aspects of "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi" is its unique and imaginative setting.
I'm wondering what people use to bind the loose-ish plaster to the lath, other than Big Wally's? I eventually need to do this to the whole house and that product seems really expensive. Do people use plaster weld and something else? Not sure what the traditional method is?
You might want to get in the attic and see how the wall meets with the chimney from above, to make sure if you pull that stuff off there really is something behind it. The Historic District
I saw Ober51's post below mine on superficial repairs, but how do you handle something a little bit more complicated.
So I finally got the ceiling clean of 1970's spackle? stucco? (what do you call this abomination?). So now I am working on the plaster repair. Most of it is super easy just little hairline cracks but there are a few spots that are a bit beyond my previous experiences with plaster repair.
Can you please advise me how to proceed?
The trouble spots are predictably around the chimney. When I touch the ceiling very close to the chimney, it feel a little loose and the plaster of the ceiling that meets the wall there is cracked. Here's a photo:
This spot is really messy! It is the site of a really crappy repair. Part of the plaster wall juts out higher than the other
So since some of these spots are not attached to the lathe any longer, I guess I need to reattach them. What method do you guys recommend and do you have any tips to keep me from doing more damage. I'm a bit nervous about poking that corner of the ceiling and if I need to drill to attach the plaster, can that even be done around a chimney?
I read a bit about "Big Wally's Plaster Magic" and it seems like it might be a good solution for this job because time is a concern. I need to have the room done by the end of the month. Any thoughts on this?

(my amatuer advice, but I've done a fair amount of this) I would pull all the damaged areas out completely there, down to the lath. Plaster magic would probably be ok for it, but you might want to watch some of "See Jane Drill" videos on plaster, they're very helpful and excellent. Any area of a few square (2-3) feet is an easy repair, and the wall will be as good as new. You would need to buy a few tools and materials but anyone with plaster walls should have a trowel, hydrated lime and gypsum veneer handy
Don't be afraid to rip the stuff out. It was meant to be repaired this way in perpetuity.
NB: keep in mind the ceiling area around the chimney is harder to fix. You might want to get in the attic and see how the wall meets with the chimney from above, to make sure if you pull that stuff off there really is something behind it .
Then again, one of the nice things about plaster is that it looks good whether it's falling apart or in perfect shape

Yeah I have all the basic tools and supplies, I've used them for the previous repairs I've done. This job is just little bit more in depth than my previous repairs. Stuff I've done in the past has been pretty superficial, this seems more structural as the ceiling moves a little bit near where it meets the wall.

The comedy in the series is often fast-paced and relies on wordplay, slapstick humor, and parodies. It also utilizes a lot of references to other anime and manga series, which adds to its appeal for fans of the medium. The animation style of "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi" is vibrant and colorful, with exaggerated character designs and expressive facial expressions. The visuals help to enhance the comedic timing and add to the overall surreal and whimsical atmosphere of the show. Although "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi" is primarily a comedy, it also incorporates elements of drama and coming-of-age themes. Sasshi and Arumi's journey through the different realities parallels their own personal growth and development, especially in dealing with their own insecurities and fears. Reviews for "Experience the Enchantment of Abenobashi Shopping District on Crunchyroll"
1. John - 2/5 stars - Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi tries too hard to be weird and ends up feeling forced and confusing. While the concept of two childhood friends being transported to parallel dimensions is interesting, the execution falls flat. The humor relies heavily on crude jokes and sexual innuendo, which quickly becomes tiresome. The characters lack depth and the plot feels scattered, making it difficult to become invested in the story. Overall, this anime fails to live up to its potential and left me disappointed.
2. Sarah - 1/5 stars - I don't understand the hype around Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. The animation is subpar, the characters are obnoxious, and the storyline is convoluted and disjointed. There is an excessive amount of fan service that overshadows any meaningful plot development. I found myself constantly checking how much time was left in each episode, hoping it would end soon. I wouldn't recommend this anime to anyone looking for a worthwhile and entertaining series.
3. Alex - 2/5 stars - Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi tries to be a zany and over-the-top comedy, but it just ends up feeling obnoxious and chaotic. The constant barrage of strange and random scenarios becomes exhausting, and the attempts at humor often fall flat. The main characters are unlikable and lack any substantial growth throughout the series. The saving grace may be the animation style, which is unique and visually appealing. However, it's not enough to redeem the overall lackluster experience of this anime.
