Witchcraft Books I Don’t Recommend

Witchcraft for beginners can be very confusing and contradictory. There are so many books out there, and you might be tempted to fill your shelves with witchcraft books. While I encourage learning from a variety of sources, some books aren’t great for new witches. Some books aren’t great for anyone to be honest, but we’ll get into that.
I am not writing this blog post to bash the authors. I will try to point out the positives in each book mentioned. This is a follow-up to my witchcraft for beginners blog post. I featured some books in that post, but didn’t go into a lot of detail. I hope this is helpful for new witches!
A disclaimer: I am an eclectic witch. I’m a pagan from the UK, and a white cisgender woman. This is important to point out, because I am not a member of any ethnic minority, and I am not discriminated against because of my beliefs. I grew up near Cornwall, my Mother’s family is Italian, and my Father’s family is Irish. I focus on these parts of my ancestry in my practice, which is essentially a mixture of Celtic and Italian folk magick.

Okay. Now that’s out of the way, here are the witchcraft books I’ve personally read and don’t recommend, for various reasons. This blog post won’t be entirely negative: I’ll highlight the parts I liked from each book, and recommend some useful witchcraft books for beginners. Also please keep in mind that these are just my opinions, you might disagree.
I don’t have anything against the witches who wrote these books, nor have I read any other works they’ve written. If one book isn’t great, that doesn’t mean their future books won’t be brilliant! Witchcraft is a lifelong journey of study, self-exploration, and connection with the Earth. As with every spiritual practice, our beliefs evolve with time and practice.

Our brains are wired to seek patterns and make sense of our environment, but this can sometimes lead to errors in perception. Magicians exploit these cognitive vulnerabilities to create illusions that seem impossible to explain. Overall, magic is a multifaceted phenomenon that goes beyond mere trickery. It can captivate and entertain us, challenge our understanding of the world, and even influence our behavior. Whether performed on a grand stage or in an intimate setting, magic continues to inspire awe and wonder in audiences around the world..

I was extremely disappointed with "Magic tha drahog behaiev bby". The plot was confusing and hard to follow, the characters were underdeveloped, and the writing style felt clumsy and unengaging. I struggled to connect with any of the characters or care about their journeys. The world-building was also lacking, leaving me feeling disconnected from the story. The pacing was off, with long stretches of boredom followed by rushed and unfulfilling action sequences. Overall, this book was a major letdown for me and I wouldn't recommend it.

"Magic tha drahog behaiev bby" was a complete waste of my time. The writing was riddled with grammatical errors, awkward sentence structures, and a lack of coherence. The characters were shallow and lacked depth, making it impossible for me to develop any emotional connection to them. The plot was convoluted and lacked a clear direction. It felt as if the author was trying to cram too many ideas into one story without properly developing any of them. I struggled to finish this book and would not recommend it to anyone.
3. Sarah Johnson - 2 stars
I had high hopes for "Magic tha drahog behaiev bby", but it fell short in many areas. The writing style was lackluster and failed to engage me as a reader. The plot was riddled with inconsistencies and plot holes, making it difficult to suspend disbelief and fully immerse myself in the story. The characters were forgettable and lacked growth or development throughout the book. Additionally, the ending felt rushed and unsatisfying. While there were some interesting ideas present, they failed to come together in a cohesive and compelling way. I would not recommend this book to others.
