Magic Room is a unique move in the Pokemon franchise that has interesting effects during battles. It is a Psychic-type move that was introduced in Generation V. When a Pokemon uses Magic Room, it creates a mysterious and magical space for five turns. During this time, the effects of held items are nullified. This means that neither the user's team nor the opponent's team can benefit from their held items. It effectively nullifies the effects of items such as berries, choice items, or healing items, making battles more unpredictable and strategic.
Holger Rune Appoints Boris Becker As New Coach Shortly After Mouratoglou Split
Not even a month after going back to his former coach, Holger Rune is already hiring a new coach, and it's Boris Becker.
The writing was on the wall after images of Becker overseeing Rune's practice in Monaco recently surfaced online, and it was Rune himself who posted those images, creating a lot of speculation.
The German coach himself confirmed the news to Eurosport in an exclusive interview, admitting that it's only for the rest of 2023, so in essence, it's just a trial. He also confirmed that contacts were in place for a while before the mutual decision was made.
I can confirm that I am Holger Rune's coach. It makes me a little proud that he asked me. The contact has existed for a long time. Now it was a very good fit.
Carlos Alcaraz Provides Update After Surprising Basel Withdrawal
Thursday, 19 October 2023Rune obviously worked with Patrick Mouratoglou for almost a year, splitting recently amid clashes between Mouraotglou and the rest of his team. The atmosphere clearly impacted Rune, as he has only one win in the last 11 matches he played.
The most recent match was the one in Stockholm, which he also lost, but he played some of the best tennis he played in months, which is a positive sign. He's fighting for a spot at the ATP Finals, and Becker joins the team to help him do that.
Holger then invited me to a training week in Monte-Carlo. I also had a long chat there with his mother Aneke and his performance coach Lapo Becherini. The three of us are responsible for Holger from now on. Unfortunately, I can't be at the tournament in Stockholm this week because of previously arranged appointments.
But I will be there in Basel at the latest, and afterwards, I will play Paris-Bercy with Holger - and hopefully help him to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. That is the big goal and that is the task.

Holger Rune News
I'm a Fed-Fan, but unfortunately he retired. Since last year, Holger Rune has been the favorite tennis player. I remember he destroyed Zverev in Munich, without any mercy, and with a very cool style of play. He's almost an All-Court Player. And I also like the honesty of his character on the court. He is genuine. Outside of them, many players respect him, and always say he is a lovely boy.
I hope that the partnership with Boris, who is my favorite tennis player from the 1980s, will be long and successful
I think he will lose to Djoker today, but I believe it will be a learning experience for him. I hope he qualifies for the Finals, preferably by winning in Metz.
Ok, it's just a 250, but it's through small achievements that you build confidence.

Great match! Djokovic had to play his best to win. Rune had a great attitude but could have played a bit more aggressive in the first set. Tired legs played a minor role in the third set.

I remember that match against Zverev in Munich in 2022. I had followed Rune for some time but that match made me believe Rune not only has the potential to be a great #10 player but has the ability to be the best in the world and win GS. Rune completely destroyed Zverev with all-court tennis.
I think most of us who like Rune also liked Federer. We’re attracted to all-court tennis and players who take the initiative and want to win the match and not only prevent losing.

Here's what Novak said today after the match:
"It was quite a similar match to last year's final, it was any body's game in every set. I played an awful tie-break in the second set, probably the worst one this year. But again credit to Rune for staying mentally tough and playing solid. We have similar games. He moves well, defend well and he's an all-round player."
"He has been playing much better in the past few weeks since working with Boris and it was strange seeing Boris in the opposing box. I wish Holger and him all the best."
I loved the match today even in a losing effort. Holger played so maturely and had the right strategy, he just couldn't execute it perfectly because of the man across the net. No shame losing to Novak. Holger's back and 2024 is going to exciting for his fans!

I have to admit I never rooted for Boris after the 1985 Wimbledon final because I worshiped Ivan. But I have met Boris several times and talked to him, and he was always super friendly. I will have to dig out photos I took of him as a little kid at IW in 1986 and 1987. He was incredibly friendly to fans and really cool. I sure love him now. I believe he can turn Holger into a dominant player, he's already showing his influence.

Boris is having an immediate impact on Holger’s game. I would normally expect it to take at least four tournaments and up to six months but the Becker influence really stands out already.
Rune is obviously a very quick learner and is aware of the privelege he has getting Becker in tow. I guess they’re not making technical changes, so there is no lag there, and it leaves him in a position to be a real sponge for Becker’s wisdom and start implementing things very quickly.
Very interested to see what advice Rune is getting on how to challenge Alcaraz. It’s a coin flip when Rune plays Djokovic now, but it didn’t look like he had a plan the last time he played Alcaraz.

You could tell Boris' impact on Holger already! That is quite astonishing for the little time that they had.
But the game plan looked pretty good, the attacking phases reminded me a lot of Boris (who was such a beast on grass and indoors) - I just hope they will work together for a longer period of time. Holger Rune has the potential to battle with Carlos for the #1 spot - I even think he has more weapons than Carlos. But he needs a figure like Boris to help him get there

Jimmy Connors talked more today about the Holger-Boris team on his podcast:
"It’s going to be interesting for me to see if Holger Rune keeps looking up to Boris after every point. I don’t know if Boris will go for that. Boris is kind of old school you know, and when he was playing and Tiriac was in his corner and he went through all that when he was young, he tended to his business on the court.
He wasn’t looking up every minute to his box, looking for instructions. He knew what he had to do. So, it’s going to be interesting. I would be looking at that, that’s going to be important. That duo right there is going to make me watch a little more tennis."
ive noticed that too.. the great champions are self problem solvers, don’t need to look at their coach for support every point like its the WTA.. sometimes djoko does but only if he’s having a complete meltdown.
what i find odd is courier said rune cramped against djoko due to nerves more than anything else.. people say alcaraz cramped due to nerves or adrenaline at the FO.. before she won the USO it happened to raducanu at wimbledon… why is this happening now? it seems like a nextgen thing

I was hoping for this. There's absolutely no point to play a 250 and risk injury. Wise move.
Regarding Boris, he told German media that he's enjoying being back in tennis and he loves Holger's "great training ethic, this is no lazy boy." He said when he took the job that it was contractually only until Turin, but if Holger found success with him, their coaching relationship would naturally carry on into 2024. So I certainly assume they will be a team going forward which is great news for us.

It's official: Lars Christensen, Holger's coach since the age of 6, is officially gone. That's good news for the Becker-Rune partnership.
"Lars Christensen are Holger Rune are a finished chapter. This is confirmed by Holger's mother and manager, Aneke. It is happening at the request of Lars Christensen himself.
Aneke said, "It is his own choice to want to train with Clara (Tauson) after Shanghai, as he doesn't want to be part of a larger team again and at the same time was unsure whether he alone was capable of the task of getting Holger to become number 1 in the world and would also like to be more in Denmark."
Holger Rune himself accepts the decision.
Aneke continued, "He's fine with that. And with the experience we had from working with Lars and Patrick, it makes good sense that he works best alone.
"But you cannot become number 1 in the world without a solid team, and that is the goal for Holger," says Aneke Rune.
Since October, Holger has been working exclusively with German star, Boris Becker."

Lars was much more than Luthi was to Fed. He worked with him daily from the age of 6. He taught him all the technical aspects of each stroke and basically took him to #4 in the world. I like Lars, but he obviously doesn't know what it's like to serve out a slam or navigate the perils of becoming #1. Boris knows all that.
This basically means Boris will be Rune's permanent coach going forward, which is fabulous news. 2024 is looking exciting!

In tennis and sport in general we forget those who stand behind the players we love and admire.
Lars Christensen was Holger Rune coach from Rune was a small boy of 6 years and until Rune was #4 in the world. Lars created the tennis player Rune is today and has a major part in his succes. There have obviously been issues on the personal front between the two of them for some time now.
But I would like to applaud Lars for his contribution to the sport.

Well said, I loved Lars too.
He deserves the credit for the player we have in Holger right now. I feel quite a bit of compassion and sorrow for him, it was pretty obvious once ego Patrick came on board, that Lars was being shunted to the side. I do think the family handled the public relations on all of this very poorly this year. Hopefully they will learn from Boris how to handle the press, Holger's own emotions and dealing with a very strong mother figure in the background.
I'm sure you noticed that in Paris, Aneke was sitting in the second row, clearly behind Boris. Becker always had that "I'm in charge" philosophy even at 17.

I agree totally. Boris had epic hair for years and doesn't have a receding hairline. I wish he'd grow it out again, but leave it grey instead of bleaching it blonde. Like this, but distinguished grey. We need an on point Becker in the box in 2024.

Yes yes. We can’t whine in quiet forever
Rune lost his two last matches to Djokovic because of lack of stamina. Rune was the better player after the first two sets in both matches and collapsed in the third both times making Djoko the right winner. Let’s not forget Djokovic is the best of all times and Rune was ahead in terms of winners, total points won and basically all other important statistics after two sets and 2,5 hours. Impressive.
Rune will improve his ability to play the hard matches and most important we don’t talk about Rune being a mental wreck anymore who belongs in a psychiatric institution. Boris has had a huge impact on the boy and now we can start talking about his tennis abilities.
I don’t agree with Novak when he says the two of them have the same style of play. I think Rune is more aggressive and he want’s to come to the net more often. He also want’s to apply more drop shots and hit more aggressive from the baseline. I dont’t think Rune is as aggressive as he wants to be but I think we will see more aggression from him in the future.
What do you think?

All intriguing questions.
Rune lost his two last matches to Djokovic because of lack of stamina. Rune was the better player after the first two sets in both matches and collapsed in the third both times making Djoko the right winner.
People often forget Djokovic had serious stamina issues until late 2010, he quit countless matches because he was physically wasted. He retired in multiple slams, including all four of them. No other player has that "distinction." But consider that Holger has played only a handful of matches since Wimbledon and has absolutely no excuse to be tired in a B03 match in indoor conditions. There's no heat, humidity or wind to disrupt him, but he still wilts in long battles. Rune posts endless training videos of him on Tiktok and Insta, but those training sessions don't produce actual results on court. Yesterday's match wasn't even particularly physical and long rallies were sparse. Yet he still started cramping after only 2.5 hours on court. Totally unacceptable and this is going to have to change. This has been an issue with him even in the juniors. It's time to fix it and leave lack of stamina in the past.
I don’t agree with Novak when he says the two of them have the same style of play.
I think Djokovic is the only person on the planet who thinks this, their styles are dissimilar and of course, Novak is simply better. Holger is far more aggressive and implements drop shots and much more net play. The problem is he's still unsure at net and botches so many easy volleys. He's also not anywhere close to Novak's mental level, that's the biggest difference between them. Novak also makes wise decisions on court and isn't predictable in the direction of his groundstrokes. Holger constantly just hits the ball right back to his opponent, which is something he should have corrected at age 12 or 13. Rune was asked if he agrees with Djokovic that they play similar styles and shot it down yesterday:
I still believe Rune's issues are primarily mental. Twice he broke Djokovic's serve yesterday and both times immediately dropped his next service game. This happens constantly with him. He plays passively and nervously when he needs to continue to attack. I take solace that he's only 20 and he's the only player this year to play Djokovic very close every single time they meet (and beat him in Rome). But he needs to take that next step in 2024 in both fitness and mental fortitude. He's only been with Boris a few weeks, usually new coaching relationships take 6 months to gel.
There's lots of positives the last 2 weeks: he is standing inside the baseline to return serve and on many rally balls. This is huge, but it takes great talent to pull that off successfully. Agassi and Roger played that way innately, but they are in an entirely different dimension from Holger in talent and natural ability. He has eliminated the constant glances to his box and has only whined twice since Becker came on the team. I want to see a super aggressive Holger, ripping balls, coming in continually and feeling comfortable at the net. It's a big ask at his age, but he must continue to work on that strategy. A mini Boris going forward would be a godsend. And how many times did Boris say from the box in Paris and in Turin, "keep the points short, keep them short!"
It effectively nullifies the effects of items such as berries, choice items, or healing items, making battles more unpredictable and strategic. The move can be used in various ways to gain an advantage over opponents. For example, if an opponent's Pokemon heavily relies on a specific held item for its strategy, using Magic Room can disable that item and disrupt their plans.
Similarly, if a player's own Pokemon is being hindered by an opponent's held item, using Magic Room can neutralize that advantage. However, it should be noted that Magic Room does not affect items that are already in use before the move was activated. For example, if a Pokemon is already holding an item when Magic Room is used, it can still benefit from it until it switches out or the item is consumed. Magic Room can be a valuable move in competitive battles, where the use of held items is crucial for strategies. By nullifying the effects of items, it forces players to think on their feet and adapt their strategies accordingly. It adds an element of surprise and unpredictability to battles, making them more exciting and challenging. In conclusion, Magic Room is a unique move in Pokemon that creates a space where the effects of held items are nullified for a limited number of turns. It can be used strategically to disrupt opponents' plans and neutralize the advantages of held items. Its effects make battles more unpredictable and require players to adapt their strategies on the fly..
Reviews for "Unveiling the Mystery of Magic Rooms in Pokemon"
1. Jane - 2 stars - Magic Room Pokemon was a huge disappointment for me. The graphics were outdated, and the gameplay was sluggish. I found myself getting bored within the first few minutes of playing. The storyline was also lacking depth and failed to engage me. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied with this game. I would not recommend it to avid gamers looking for an immersive and exciting experience.
2. Mike - 1 star - I have to say, I was extremely disappointed with Magic Room Pokemon. The controls were clunky and unresponsive, making it difficult to navigate through the game. The battles were poorly balanced, with some characters being significantly overpowered. The lack of customization options was also a major drawback. I expected more from this game, but unfortunately, it failed to deliver on every aspect. Save your money and skip this one.
3. Sarah - 2.5 stars - Magic Room Pokemon had its moments, but overall, it didn't live up to the hype for me. The graphics were decent, but nothing groundbreaking. The gameplay felt repetitive and didn't offer enough variety to keep me engaged for long periods. Additionally, the in-app purchases felt pushy and made it clear that the developers were more interested in making money than creating a quality gaming experience. I was hoping for something more impressive, but unfortunately, this game fell short.
