Unraveling Ewraude's True Motivations in Magic Knight Rayearth

By admin

Magic Knight Rayearth is a popular Japanese anime and manga series created by Clamp. The story follows three high school girls named Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji, who are transported to the magical world of Cephiro after being summoned by the Princess Emeraude. In this world, the girls discover that Princess Emeraude is being held captive by the high priest Zagato and must use their newly acquired magical powers to save her and restore peace to Cephiro. They are given magic suits called "Escaflowne" and become known as the "Magic Knights." Emwraude, also known as Emeraude, is the central character of the series. As the Pillar of Cephiro, she is responsible for maintaining balance and harmony in the world.

In Japanese, she was voiced by Megumi Ogata. In English, she was voiced by Wendee Lee in the anime and Rhonda Gibson in the video games.

In the anime it is revealed that she was once a noblewoman of Cephiro, and had later used her power as the Pillar to prevent her younger brother Ferio from being punished for stealing something from her. That devotion does not allow for love, so when Emeraude fell for Zagato, she was caught in a terrible vice, and as a result, Cephiro begins to reflect that strife.

As the Pillar of Cephiro, she is responsible for maintaining balance and harmony in the world. However, she is trapped by Zagato's dark powers and cannot fulfill her duties. The Magic Knights are tasked with rescuing her and bringing her back to her rightful place.

Plot Summary: Three young girls, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, are transported to a magical world called Cephiro during a field trip to Tokyo Tower. They are soon greeted by Master Mage Clef, who explains to them that they have been summoned to become the Legendary Magic Knights and save Cephiro. The girls are less than enthusiastic about this idea, and only want to return home. Clef further explains that they must seek out the three Rune Gods to help them fight. He bestows armor and magical powers to each of them. They learn from Clef that High Priest Zagato has kidnapped the Pillar of Cephiro, Princess Emeraude. The Pillar of Cephiro has the sole responsibility of keeping Cephiro alive and in balance with her prayers. Without Princess Emeraude, Cephiro would fall into ruin. Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu must fight off Zagato's henchman and find the Rune Gods if they ever want to get back home. They soon learn that friendship and loyalty are the only things they can rely on in the crumbling Cephiro.
