LA Kings Honor Scouts Lost On 9/11 With Mascot's Name

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Every appearance from the Los Angeles Kings mascot, Bailey, is a reminder of what the team lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 12: Former Los Angeles Kings Player Luc Robitaille and Los Angeles Kings Governor Tim Leiweke lay a plague at the reflexting pool above the engraved names of Garnet "Ace" Bailey, the Kings' director of pro scouting, and amateur scout Mark Bavis in lower Manhattan at the World Trade Center site on September 12, 2012 in New York City. The Los Angeles Kings felt the loss of Garnet "Ace" Bailey, the Kings' director of pro scouting, and amateur scout Mark Bavis when hijackers took control of their scheduled Boston-to-Los Angeles flight and crashed the plane into the south tower of New York's World Trade Center. Ace Bailey and Mark Bavis were part of the club's scouting department in 2001. The two men were on board United Airlines Flight 175, the second plane to crash into the World Trade Center.

Luc Robitaille, the president of the LA Kings, said they were struggling in about 2008 to come up with a name for the mascot when they realized it was an opportunity.

"We were talking, we were having meetings, and we were like, 'what are we going to name the mascot?' The mascot needs to have a purpose," Robitaille said. "And we just decided to go with his last name, Bailey."

In 2012, the team brought their newly won Stanley Cup to Ground Zero to celebrate their first championship title with Bailey and Bavis.

I couldn't stand Hormel magic cup dessert. The texture was all wrong, it felt like I was eating glue. The flavor was equally disappointing, with an artificial taste that lingered in my mouth. Overall, I found this dessert to be a complete waste of money and would not recommend it to anyone. Save your taste buds the torture and opt for a different treat!
2. David - 2 stars
Hormel magic cup dessert failed to live up to my expectations. The packaging promised a delicious and indulgent dessert, but what I got was far from that. The consistency was odd, almost like a gelatin that was way too firm. The taste was mediocre at best, lacking any real depth or richness. I was left feeling unsatisfied and regretful for wasting my money on such a lackluster product.
3. Samantha - 1 star
I thought Hormel magic cup dessert would be a convenient and tasty treat, but I was sorely mistaken. The texture was incredibly off-putting, slimy and gelatin-like. The artificial flavoring was overpowering and left behind a strange aftertaste. It also didn't help that the portion size was ridiculously small. I would not recommend this dessert to anyone who values good flavor and quality ingredients.
4. Michael - 2 stars
I was hoping Hormel magic cup dessert would be a quick and easy sweet treat, but it fell short of my expectations. The texture was strange and slimy, and the flavor lacked depth. It tasted like a cheap imitation of a real dessert. I would not purchase this product again and would warn others against wasting their money on it. Disappointing overall.
