The Honor Magic4 Pro 5G comes with one of the most extensive feature sets among all flagship Android smartphones. The smartphone uses a 6.81-inch LTPO OLED panel, which allows it to dynamically adjust its refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. Additionally, Honor includes a 1920-Hz DC dimming mode, which is supposed to reduce eyestrain significantly. In our review, the screen turns out to be very bright, but we also discovered a few small drawbacks.
The brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the processor of choice and there are 8 GB of RAM. Furthermore, 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage is available with no microSD card expansion options. The Wi-Fi 6 module supports VHT160, making it extremely fast, whereas the 6-GHz band is not supported.
Security features are the Mgac4 Pro's strong suit. In addition to the ultrasound fingerprint scanner in the display, the ToF sensor next to the front camera allows for three-dimensional facial recognition. Most competitors only offer a 2D recognition via the front optics.
The remainder of the connectivity warrants no criticism, either. USB 3.2, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, eSIM support, and an IR blaster are all included. Aside from OTG, the USB port also supports wired video output and a full-featured desktop mode. On top of this, users receive Google Android 12 with the manufacturer's own user interface Magic UI 6, two guaranteed OS updates and security patches for four years.
Fast charging at up to 100 watts is Honor's cherry on top. An appropriate charger is included with the phone. Furthermore, an optional wireless charger rated for 100 watts is available as well.
For non-US based customers, the Honor Magic4 Pro is available for around 1100 Euros (MSRP) on Honor's own shop and often comes with bonus offerings such as cases, smartwatches, or charging stations.
