The Enchanted Magic Flute is a popular and beloved opera composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1791. It is a blend of comedy, fantasy, and political commentary, making it a unique and enduring masterpiece. The story begins with Prince Tamino, who is tasked with rescuing Princess Pamina from the evil sorcerer Sarastro. Tamino is given a magic flute to help him on his journey, and he is accompanied by the comedic sidekick Papageno, a bird catcher. Throughout their adventure, they face various trials and tests of their character and bravery. One of the highlights of the opera is the beautiful music, which showcases Mozart's genius.

Like all breeds, German Shepherds are at risk of developing certain health conditions throughout their lifetime. The most common health condition for this breed is hip dysplasia which can have a treatment cost around $2000-$2500.

The average cost can be about 100 per month for a professional grooming service or around 50- 75 for grooming supplies if you decide to groom your dog at home. Spot accident illness pet insurance plans offer a wide variety of coverages, from microchip implantation to surgeries and prescription food and supplements prescribed to treat your pet s unexpected accidents and illnesses.

We are sorry to say that we lost Irish early in 2004. We miss her dearly, but have her wonderful temperament & great looks living on in her grand daughter Juju & her great grand daughter, Varuka.

FIONA

This is "Salhaus Sweet Irish Finesse" aka " Fiona." "Fi" is a heavy boned daughter out of an out-crossed, nice white male & our 118 lb Varuka. ( To see Fiona's father, click "here." ) "Fi" is a great, great grand daughter of our 136 lb Irish. She has her GG grandmother's name as keepsake. At the vet for her OFA prelim at 10 months, she weighed a pleasing 86 lbs! She has topped out at 92 lbs & has carried on the Salhaus oversized tradition. She has already produced fantastic litters for us with both of our boys. Fiona is a very easy going girl & like her mother, is very sweet. We are very proud of the way Fiona has turned out. She has an OFA rating of "good."

Very square, just like her mama Varuka!
Thick neck & chest

PONY

This is "Salhaus Mustang Sally V Sprague" aka " Pony." Pony is a bi-black grand daughter (from Spragues GSD's) out of our very own Dragon . She is a great grand daughter of our 136 lb Irish as well as a great grand daughter of our first blue German Shepherd named Gracie from 10 years ago. Needless to say, Pony comes from lots of original Salhaus dogs from years back. I love looking in her eyes & knowing that so many of our old "friends" from years past are looking back at me. With the dark faced Shepherds, they sometimes have a more menacing look, but Pony is as happy as they come! She's got sweet, clownish ways about her. . .not a mean bone in her body, although she is a good watch dog, as she should be. She definitely lets us know when there's a stranger about. She's a happy girl & wants to please. At 8 months, she weighed 76 lbs! Now as an adult at 106 lbs, she has carried on the Salhaus oversized tradition by producing both male & female pups weighing up to & over 100 lbs! We are very pleased with the way Pony is turning out. She loves people & does great with kids & other dogs. Hips xrayed at good.

BELLA

This is "Salhaus Silver Twilight" AKA Bella weighing in at 95 whopping lbs! She is a daughter from our very own 130 lb mild stud dog Monty. Her mother is Fiona, our 96 lb girl who is 6 generations down from our original breeding pair. (Read about Fiona below & Bella's grandmother Varuka too.) Bella lives with our daughter & son in law. Bella comes to visit & loves to get to romp & play with the rest of the our dogs while she is here. She is full of life & is very loving, as well as protective & predictable, just as the rest of our own dogs are. Bella takes her "job" of protecting our daugher & son in law, very seriously. She is very loyal to them without being overly agressive or a liability. She's easy going but can be serious when the need arises. She's got the classic Salhaus straight backed stance & the traditional muzzle & saddle-back markings, while being a GORGEOUS black & silver! She's super tall & she's filled out nicely with her weight matching her height. At her last weighing, she's a whopping 90 lbs! Since her dad is Monty, she has been bred to Diesel as well as to Midas for her litters. They produce blk/silver & blk/cream/tan pups! Their pups have been exquisite! Her daughter Alder is continuing on her wonderful line for us. She has a Penn Hip rating of 34/37 which means tight hip sockets & she is rated in the 70th percentile meaning her hips are better than 70% of all German Shepherds evaluated.

Happy Girl! Gorgous silver color!
Huge head, straight back!
Straight back, thick build, huge head!
Play day with Bella near the beach!

Look at her run! Half the time she brings the stick, the other half she wants YOU to bring the stick! LOL!

LIZZY

Meet Salhaus Lizzy of Black Magic. . .AKA " Lizzy ." She is a wonderful blend of Salhaus & Black Magic lines. It is so important that my girls can be traced back to our original pair of Salhaus German Shepherds from over 20 years ago. . .to our whopping 136 lb foundation female, Irish & our original 120 lb stud dog, Canaan. Each & every one of my girls here come from my own lines. I have either owned or personally known each dog that is in my girls' pedigrees. We don't just randomly breed a purebred pair just because they're purebred & they are the same breed! Having girls from my original pair gives me the ability to let my buyers know exactly where looks, health & temperament come from. We LOVE Lizzy! She's almost my "Irish reincarnate" in looks & personality! She's fun-loving & gentle, almost clown-like in her love of play! She definitely can be protective when the need be, but she's also very trustworthy & level-headed. She's totally non-dog-aggressive & is so calm with other people. She's got the classic Salhaus straight backed stance & super thick build! At 2 years she's a whopping 113 lbs, coming from a long line of Salhaus oversized dogs. She has been Penn Hip certified at 35/42, which means hips tight in the sock. She is in the 50th percentile group, which means she has average hips for a German Shepherd. So far by her track record, she produces pups with hips better than hers!

The Enchanted Magic Flute also explores deeper themes, such as the quest for wisdom and enlightenment. Sarastro, often portrayed as the antagonist, is revealed to be a benevolent ruler who seeks to guide humanity towards goodness and truth. This portrayal challenges traditional notions of good and evil, and encourages the audience to question their own beliefs and prejudices. Additionally, the opera touches on social and political issues of Mozart's time. The character of Papageno represents the common man, and his comedic antics provide light-hearted relief from the more serious themes. His desire for love and companionship serves as a reminder of the universal human need for connection and happiness. Overall, The Enchanted Magic Flute is a timeless and enchanting work of art. Its blend of comedy, fantasy, and social commentary make it a multi-dimensional and thought-provoking opera. Mozart's brilliant music and the compelling story continue to captivate audiences worldwide, making it a true masterpiece of the genre..

1. John - 2/5
I recently attended a performance of "The Enchanted Magic Flute" in San Francisco and I have to say, I was quite disappointed. The production felt amateurish and lacked the polish and finesse I expected from a professional theatre company. The acting was mediocre at best, with the characters coming across as wooden and lacking depth. Additionally, the set design was unimpressive and failed to transport me to the magical world of Mozart's opera. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed and would not recommend this particular production.
2. Sarah - 1/5
I had high hopes for "The Enchanted Magic Flute" but unfortunately it fell short on many levels. The performances were lackluster, with the singers frequently missing their cues and struggling with their vocal range. The pacing was also off, dragging in some scenes and rushing through others. The costumes and set design were cheap and unimaginative, failing to capture the essence of the story. I found myself counting down the minutes until the end of the performance, as I was thoroughly unengaged and disappointed.
3. Michael - 2/5
"The Enchanted Magic Flute" was a letdown for me. The production seemed disjointed and lacked a cohesive vision. The director's choices were questionable, with bizarre staging and unnecessary flourishes that detracted from the main storyline. The actors' performances were inconsistent, with some clearly struggling to stay in character. The use of pre-recorded music also took away from the live experience I expected. Overall, I was left feeling confused and unsatisfied with this particular adaptation of Mozart's beloved opera.
4. Emily - 2.5/5
While "The Enchanted Magic Flute" had its moments, overall, it failed to meet my expectations. The production value was subpar, with low-budget props and sets that were far from magical. The cast had some talented singers, but their performances were overshadowed by a lack of chemistry and stage presence. The pacing was uneven, making it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. On the positive side, some of the comedic moments provided brief moments of enjoyment. However, I would not recommend this production to anyone seeking a memorable operatic experience.
