Last summer, I had the opportunity to go on a snorkeling escapade at the magical sands beach. It was a thrilling experience that left me mesmerized and in awe of the stunning underwater world. As soon as I arrived at the beach, I was greeted by crystal clear turquoise waters and soft white sand. The beach itself seemed like a paradise, but what lay beneath the surface was even more astonishing. Equipped with a snorkel, mask, and fins, I ventured into the water. With each stroke, I delved deeper into the unknown, excited to discover what awaited me beneath the surface.

Magic Sands, or officially La’aloa Beach, is a popular white-sand beach in Kailua-Kona. It has come to be known as Magic Sands, or sometimes Disappearing Sands, because several times a year the sand gets washed out in storms, exposing the lava rock underneath. The sand gradually comes back, returning the beach back to the picturesque self. This is known as the best spot for boogie boarding on the Island. Those who are inexperienced will want to exercise caution though, as there is a strong surf break on the shore. There is a small rocky cove South of the beach that is a popular spot for scuba diving in calm conditions. There are several archaeological sites in the area. You’ll find the ruins of an Ancient Hawaiian temple (haukalua Heiau) to the South of the beach.

1. Amanda - ★☆☆☆☆
I was so disappointed with the snorkeling escapade at the Magic Sands Beach. The water was murky and full of seaweed, making it nearly impossible to see any marine life. The rental equipment they provided was old and worn out, with leaking masks and broken snorkels. The instructors were not attentive, and it felt like they were just going through the motions. Overall, it was a waste of money and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a good snorkeling experience.
2. John - ★★☆☆☆
I had high hopes for the snorkeling escapade at the Magic Sands Beach, but it fell short of expectations. The water clarity was mediocre, which made it difficult to fully appreciate the underwater scenery. The rental gear was average, but nothing exceptional. The instructors seemed knowledgeable, but they lacked warmth and enthusiasm. It was an average experience overall, but I was still left wanting more from this escapade.

I had a rather underwhelming experience during the snorkeling escapade at the Magic Sands Beach. The water conditions were not ideal, with poor visibility and lots of floating debris. The rental equipment was average at best, and some of the snorkels had difficulty functioning properly. The instructors were friendly but lacked professionalism in their approach. I expected a more enjoyable and memorable snorkeling adventure, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations.
