Featured review It's not the best Sesame video release, but it's not too bad.

The plot's a little thin, but Elmo's Magic Cookbook doesn't rely on using previously produced clips as much as some Sesame Street straight-to-video releases. Instead, it uses the clips to tie together cooking segments where the kids make some easy food dishes with supervision from a Muppet genie that came from the titular magic cookbook, Alan ('zapped' over from Hooper's Store for his appearance), and the celebrity guests.

For the adults, the video has a couple of great running gags and two celebrity appearances -- Emeril Legasse, who makes pizza with the kids and talks about where cheese comes from, and singer Heather Headley, who teaches the kids about pocket foods and makes a summer roll for Elmo to try.

Reviews for "Whimsical and Tasty: Discover the Magic of Elmo's Recipes in the Elmo Magic Cookbook"

1. Emily - 2/5 stars - I was really disappointed with this cookbook. The recipes in it were extremely simple and didn't challenge my cooking skills at all. I was hoping for more creative and unique dishes, but instead, it was just basic recipes with an Elmo twist. The magic element in the title also didn't live up to my expectations, as there was nothing particularly magical about the recipes or cooking process. Overall, it felt like a cash grab with the Elmo branding rather than a truly innovative and exciting cookbook.
2. Michael - 3/5 stars - While the concept of an Elmo magic cookbook seemed promising, I found it to be quite underwhelming. The recipes were easy to follow, which could be a positive for some, but for more experienced cooks looking for a challenge or something new to try, it fell short. Additionally, the illustrations and instructions were too juvenile for my taste. It's definitely geared towards a younger audience, so if you're buying this book for a child, it might be more well-received. However, as an adult, I wanted something more sophisticated and engaging.
3. Samantha - 1/5 stars - I have to say, this cookbook was a huge disappointment. The recipes were incredibly basic and lacked any real creativity. They were mostly just variations of common dishes with an Elmo theme slapped on. There was also a lack of diversity in the recipes, with a heavy focus on sweets and desserts. As someone who was looking for a cookbook to expand my culinary horizons, this was not the right choice. The magic element was completely missing and it felt like a wasted purchase. I would not recommend this cookbook to anyone looking for interesting and unique recipes.
