'Tis the season for holiday magic, and what better way to experience it than with a magical New York Christmas book? Imagine a tale that combines the enchantment of the Big Apple with the wonder of the holiday season, creating a spellbinding story that captures the essence of Christmas in this bustling city. In this magical New York Christmas book, we are transported into a realm where the ordinary becomes extraordinary. The streets of New York, adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations, come alive with unimagined possibilities. The buildings seem to emit their own light, as if in celebration of the season, and the snow-covered sidewalks offer a picturesque scene of winter wonder. Amidst this enchanting backdrop, we meet our main character, a young girl who finds herself in the midst of a whimsical adventure. This ordinary girl, filled with dreams and hopes, stumbles upon a hidden world that exists beneath the surface of the city.

The only part of the book that I found somewhat repetitive was Ian’s role in making sure his aristocratic buddy didn’t spontaneously propose while on holiday – something he had made a habit of doing in the past. While this was a clever way to have Ian being mistaken for his royal buddy, the author carried this a bit too far for my liking.

Many of you may not know Christmas books publish in September and October, so over the next few months I ll be reading and reviewing what s new for Christmas 2021 books. It s Christmas week when 26-year-old Sabrina Post knocks on the door of the Vanderbilt suite at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, ready to accept the ghostwriting position for the memoir of Grayson Westcott--a famous art dealer.

A Magical New York Christmas - by Anita Hughes (Paperback)

It's Christmas week when 26-year-old Sabrina Post knocks on the door of the Vanderbilt suite at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, ready to accept the ghostwriting position for the memoir of Grayson Westcott--a famous art dealer.

A struggling journalist, Sabrina can't believe her luck: a paycheck and six nights in her own suite at the Plaza. She feels like Eloise, the heroine from her favorite children's books. To make the job even more exciting, Grayson recounts how he worked as a butler at the Plaza sixty years ago for none other than the author of the Eloise books, Kay Thompson.

What promises to be a perfect week is complicated when Sabrina meets Ian Wentworth, a handsome British visitor, at the hotel bar. When Ian assumes Sabrina is another wealthy guest at the hotel, she doesn't correct him --a decision she doesn't regret after learning that Ian is a member of the British aristocracy. But, things are not what they seem. The truth is: Ian is not a wealthy lord; he's actually the personal secretary of Lord Spencer Braxton.

As the week unfolds, will Sabrina and Ian learn the truth about one another?

Filled with the magic that can only be found at the Plaza Hotel during the holidays, and revealing facts about the author of the Eloise books, Anita Hughes's A Magical New York Christmas is both a holiday treat and a heartwarming story that reminds us that falling in love is the greatest miracle of all.
