Magic links are a secure and convenient way to access online accounts without the need for a password. They work by generating a unique link that is sent to the user's email address. This link contains a special code that acts as the user's authentication. When the user clicks on the magic link, it redirects them to the login page of the website or application. The code embedded in the link is then processed by the server, which verifies its validity and authenticity. If the code is valid, the server grants the user access to their account, without requiring them to enter a password.

If the code is valid, the server grants the user access to their account, without requiring them to enter a password. The magic link serves as a one-time key to the user's account, and it expires after a certain period of time or upon successful login. This ensures that the link cannot be reused or abused by malicious entities.

Magic shave powder

Post by PonyPlayer » Mon Apr 17, 2006 12:31 pm

Has anyone ever used a product called "Magic Shaving Powder"?

I am just curious about this product. I know you don't need a razor and brush but I worked with a guy a while back who used this stuff and he always had a face so clean and clear that it made me very curious about this product.

P.S. please feel free to move this post if needed.

Not Much. its not really a shave powder as such, more like a chemical treatment.

Ah, the romance of shaving via chemical treatment. It comes in two scents: Noxious Sulfur and Lavender.

Thioglycolic something, Lithium something. Nice:

Water Aqua , Cetearyl Alcohol , Thioglycolic Acid , Calcium Hydroxide , Mineral Oil Paraffinum Liquidum , Ceteareth-20 , Sodium Metasilicate , Cocoa Seed Butter , Theobroma Cacao , PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil , Fragrance Parfum , Lithium Hydroxide , Pentasodium Pentetate , Polyquaternium-39 , Dimethicone , PEG , PEG-8 Stearate , Glyceryl Stearate

I actually used Nair on my thigh one time just to test it out. Every single hair folicle turned into a red bump. I'd hate to see this on my face.

The original formula stinks to high heaven. I remember my father using the original formula and being force to shaved in the back yard due to it's smell. Some of the other formulas smell a little better.

In my quest to end PFB, I tried this stuff for a few years. You have to be extremely careful with how long you leave it on, or you will suffer from some serious chemical burns.

In college my friend tried to use this stuff. He read the instructions which said to leave on for 5 - 7 minutes. He applied it and waited 5 - 7 minutes, big mistake. He did not take into consideration the time it took him to apply it. He burned a nice layer of skin off, and sported a scalped beard area.

This also doesn't like sweat, your face has to be dry. They also tell you not to wash your face before hand. Oh yeah and don't even think about using alcohol or alcohol based product before or after using this stuff. I still have a two cans of this stuff. Man! I never throw stuff away! Be happy that you can use a blade.

Well, in all fairness to this product, it does work well if you follow the timing guidelines, and your skin can handle the chemicals. The chemicals perform a mild form of exfoliation. However, this is definitley not a product for stupid people.

Let's see what it says:

DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT WITH A RAZOR
Caution: Contains thioglycolate. Follow directions carefully.
This product may cause skin irritation. If skin is inflamed or has
skin abrasions, facial sores or pustules., consult a dermatologist
before using this product.

* Wait 36 hours before using a razor, shaving product or device.
* Do not use after perspiring heavily. Do not wash face before use.
* Do not use after prolonged sun exposure.
* Do not use with any after-shave product containing alcohol.
* Timing is crucial to avoid excessive irritation. For external use only.
If power or the mixture gets into eyes, rinse repeatedly, with water.
Magic Shaving Powder is used only to remove facial hair, Keep away
from children

themba,
The way you've described the Magic Shaving Powder, especially the original formula, I'm at a loss as to why more of us have not switched from our DE razors to this.

Although for anyone interested I will gladly take your gently used DE's off your hands and ship a couple of these to your home, on me. PM me if interested.

Seriosly though, this should have a stupid human warning on it.

I've used it before also. Another drawback to it is that it can't be used every day. Marty J Posts: 90 Joined: Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:06 pm Location: County Down, Northern Ireland

Ingredient breakdown for those interested:

Corn Starch Zea Mays is basic corn starch.

Calcium Carbonate is a calcium antacid. it is generally made from seashells and snail shells. Found in rocks.

Barium Sulfide is a depilatory. This is the same ingredient that makes products like Nair work.

Calcium Hydroxide is an acid neutralizer. Think Tums.

Ammonium thioglycolate is also called perm salt. It is used in perm applications to swell the hair so the perm solution may penetrate. In shaving, the swelled hair is easier to shave.

Personally, this sounds a little too dangerous and bothersome to make me give up a great soap or cream.

💪 Extra Strength Red Magic Shaving Powder - 5 oz (Pack of 3) Review

To be honest I would only recommend this product if you absolutely hate shaving. This works well, but the next day the hair has grown back a bit, so not the best alternative to daily shaving. The smell is bearable but still very eggy. It didn't irritate my skin and my skin is very sensitive.

One of the main advantages of magic links is their simplicity and ease of use. Users don't have to remember and manage complex passwords, which reduces the risk of weak or compromised credentials. Additionally, magic links offer a more seamless user experience, as they eliminate the need for typing, remembering, and resetting passwords. In terms of security, magic links can be considered relatively secure, as they rely on the user's possession of the email account associated with their account. However, it's important to note that if someone gains unauthorized access to the user's email account, they could potentially intercept and use the magic link to gain access to the user's account. To enhance the security of magic links, some platforms may include additional layers of authorization, such as requesting a secondary factor of authentication, like a fingerprint or SMS code, after clicking on the magic link. In conclusion, magic links provide a convenient and secure alternative to traditional password-based authentication. They simplify the login process for users while reducing the risk of password-related security breaches. However, it's important for users to ensure the security of their email accounts to prevent unauthorized access to their accounts through intercepted magic links..
