Catching Up with The Worst Witch 1998 Cast: Then and Now

By admin

In 1998, the beloved children's book series "The Worst Witch" was adapted into a television series. The cast of the show brought the magical world of Miss Cackle's Academy to life, and their performances were enjoyed by audiences of all ages. However, over the years, the cast of "The Worst Witch" has moved on to new projects and embarked on their own journeys in the entertainment industry. Let's take a look at what the cast of "The Worst Witch" looks like now. First and foremost, we have Georgina Sherrington, who portrayed the lead character, Mildred Hubble. After her time on "The Worst Witch," Sherrington continued to act in a few television shows but eventually decided to pursue a career in music.

ALMOST two decades ago The Worst Witch had us all in its spell.

Mildred Hubble and her classmates at Miss Cackle’s Academy For Witches first wove their magic on CITV in 1998 and the series ran until 2001.

But what happened to Georgina Sherrington, who played the hapless witchlet of the title?

Georgina was just 13 when she first put on Mildred’s pointy hat and climbed on her broomstick.

After The Worst Witch, she left kids’ TV to return to her studies at Wimbledon High School.

She then moved to New Jersey to attend Princeton University and graduated in 2008.

Now 36 and back in the UK, Georgina has switched her focus to working behind the camera rather than in front of it and is a Development Executive for TV Drama.

Georgina popped up in February for a reunion with The Worst Witch co-star Emma Jayne Brown - also known as Maud Moonshine.

After her time on "The Worst Witch," Sherrington continued to act in a few television shows but eventually decided to pursue a career in music. She released her solo album "Lately" in 2008 and has since become a successful singer-songwriter. Next, we have Felicity Jones, who played the role of Ethel Hallow, Mildred's nemesis.

Jones has gone on to have a remarkable career in film, receiving critical acclaim for her performances in movies such as "Like Crazy," "The Theory of Everything," and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." She has become one of the most respected actresses of her generation. Moving on, we have Clare Coulter, who played the role of Miss Cackle, the headmistress of the academy. Coulter has continued to act in various television shows and movies. She appeared in the popular British series "Downton Abbey" and has remained active in the theater scene. Another notable cast member is Una Stubbs, who portrayed Miss Hardbroom, the strict potions teacher. Stubbs has had a successful career even before "The Worst Witch." Lastly, we have Katie Allen, who played the role of Maud Moonshine, one of Mildred's best friends. Reviews for "The Worst Witch 1998: Catching Up with the Cast"

1. Jane - 2 out of 5 stars - I was really disappointed with "The Worst Witch 1998 Cast Then and Now". The actors who played the main characters in the original film were so young and charming, and now seeing them as grown-ups just doesn't have the same magic. It feels like they're trying too hard to recapture the nostalgia, but it falls flat. The movie lacks the charm and innocence of the original, and the chemistry between the cast members is completely missing. Overall, it's a disappointing watch for fans of the original.
2. Mark - 1 out of 5 stars - As a huge fan of the original "The Worst Witch" film, I was really excited to see the cast reunite for this "Then and Now" special. Unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The actors seem completely out of touch with their characters, and the script felt forced and unnatural. The magic and wonder that made the original so special is entirely absent from this production. It's a shame that the film couldn't capture the same charm and enchantment, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone hoping to relive the magic of the original.
3. Emily - 2.5 out of 5 stars - "The Worst Witch 1998 Cast Then and Now" had the potential to be a nostalgic and heartwarming experience, but it missed the mark for me. While it was great to see the cast back together, the movie lacked a cohesive storyline and engaging plot. The nostalgia factor was diluted by awkward dialogue and cheesy moments. It felt like a rushed attempt to capitalize on the success of the original rather than a genuine reunion. Overall, it was a mediocre effort that failed to capture the magic of the original film.
4. David - 1 out of 5 stars - I had high hopes for "The Worst Witch 1998 Cast Then and Now", but unfortunately, it fell flat. The actors who portrayed the beloved characters have lost their charm and energy, and the storyline was cliché and predictable. The attempts at humor were cringe-worthy and felt forced. I was left feeling disappointed and wishing I hadn't wasted my time on this lackluster production. I would recommend fans of the original to stick with the memories of the original film and skip this subpar attempt at recapturing the magic.
5. Michelle - 2 out of 5 stars - While it was interesting to see the original cast of "The Worst Witch" back together, I can't say that I thoroughly enjoyed this "Then and Now" special. The actors seemed awkward and uncomfortable in their roles, and the pacing of the film felt off. The storyline lacked depth and failed to captivate me as the original did. Overall, it was a forgettable experience that failed to live up to the nostalgic expectations.
