The Magic Lamp Inn keeps the flame on for IE Restaurant Week

Like moth to a flame, patrons have been attracted to the retro-style Magic Lamp Inn restaurant on the famous Route 66 (Foothill Boulevard to locals) in Rancho Cucamonga for nearly six decades.

The eclectic combination of multi-layered red tiled roof and multiple stained glass windows f is part of the charm of the hip restaurant, which shines its signature gas-lighted flame every night when the sun goes down, known throughout the Inland Valley for its steaks and filet mignons that are so tender they can almost be cut with a butter knife.

“I think people love the look of it because it has a different atmosphere. Its upscale look along with the beautiful woodwork makes for a nice place to spend an evening,” said restaurant co-owner Sartaj Singh.

Singh and his business partners own other Inland Valley restaurants. They include Haandi’s Indian Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga, Antonino’s Italian Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga, Sixty6 Sports Lounge in Rancho Cucamonga, all of which are participating in IE Restaurant Week. They regularly help with nonprofit fundraisers, community events and corporate get-togethers.

“We have always tried to help where we can and to participate in the community. Being a part of restaurant week goes with that and we hope it is a wonderful success,” he said.

The restaurant has a daily $10 lunch special, which will continue during restaurant week. And for dinner, The Magic Lamp Inn is offering an elegant evening for two for $30. Guests can choose either soup or salad along with dinner offerings of chicken Normandy, sautéed with wild mushrooms in a white wine and cream sauce; a white fish meal; or a top sirloin cooked to order. Overall, I did not find the accommodations satisfactory and would not recommend staying at The Magic Lamb Inn.
2. John - 1 star - My stay at The Magic Lamb Inn was a complete disaster. The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful, making me feel like an inconvenience rather than a guest. The room was small and cramped, with dated decor and uncomfortable furniture. The noise from the nearby road was unbearable, making it impossible to relax or get any sleep. The breakfast provided was also subpar, with limited options and low-quality ingredients. I would strongly advise against staying at The Magic Lamb Inn if you value comfort and good service.
3. Sarah - 2 stars - I had high expectations for The Magic Lamb Inn, but unfortunately, it fell short. The room I was assigned was not properly cleaned, with dust and cobwebs in corners and on surfaces. The bed was also uncomfortable, with a lumpy mattress and scratchy sheets.
