The Magical Creatures in The Bone Witch Trilogy

By admin

The Bone Witch trilogy is a fantasy series written by Rin Chupeco. The story follows the life and journey of a young girl named Tea, who discovers she has the power to raise the dead. Tea is taken in by an older bone witch named Mykaela, who teaches her how to harness and control her powers. **The main idea of the trilogy is the exploration of power, destiny, and the dark side of magic.** As Tea learns more about her abilities, she also discovers that there is a bigger threat looming over the world and she must navigate the complexities of politics and alliances to save her loved ones. The trilogy is filled with rich world-building, intricate plot twists, and complex characters.

As this blog tour is dedicated to the wonderful finale in the series I also made sure to post my review of The Shadowglass ready for today. I can’t believe this series is now over.

Most of their clientele tend to be kings and queens, but bone witches themselves are not above raising deceased loved ones for their own, often spouses or significant others. Although asha are easily the most powerful faction within the kingdoms, a whole industry was formed around them entertaining and playing host to customers.

Praise for The Bone Witch:

"A fantasy lover's fantasy" —Foreword Reviews

"Mesmerizing. Chupeco (The Suffering) does a magnificent job of balancing an intimate narrative perspective with sweeping worldbuilding, crafting her tale within a multicultural melting pot of influences as she presses toward a powerful cliffhanger."—Publishers Weekly, STARRED Review

"Chupeco delights us with a fascinating world and a rich atmosphere for a story that is exceptionally written from beginning to end."—Buzzfeed

"Readers who enjoy immersing themselves in detail will revel in Chupeco's finely wrought tale. Game of Thrones fans may see shades of Daenerys Targaryen in Tea, as she gathers a daeva army to unleash upon the world. Whether she is in the right remains a question unanswered, but the ending makes it clear her story is only beginning." —Booklist

Reviews for "The Lessons of Loss in The Bone Witch Trilogy"

1. Jessica - 2 stars
I found "The Bone Witch Trilogy" to be quite slow and hard to get into. The story lacked depth, and the characters felt one-dimensional. I was hoping for more action and intrigue, but instead, it was filled with excessive descriptions and unnecessary details. The world-building was also confusing and inconsistent, making it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. Overall, I was disappointed and wouldn't recommend this trilogy to others.
2. James - 2.5 stars
While "The Bone Witch Trilogy" had potential, I felt that it fell short in many aspects. The pacing was uneven, with long stretches of boredom followed by brief moments of excitement. The main character, Tea, was difficult to connect with, and her decisions often left me scratching my head. The magic system was poorly explained and didn't feel cohesive. Additionally, the romance felt forced and lacked chemistry. I had hoped for a more captivating and coherent story, but unfortunately, it didn't deliver.
3. Emily - 1 star
"The Bone Witch Trilogy" was a disappointment from start to finish. The plot was convoluted and riddled with cliches. The protagonist, Tea, was supposed to be a powerful witch, but she came across as weak and indecisive. The writing style was overly flowery and verbose, making it a laborious read. The secondary characters were underdeveloped and served little purpose to the overall story. I struggled to find any redeeming qualities in this trilogy and would advise readers to look elsewhere for a more satisfying fantasy series.
4. Mike - 2 stars
I had high expectations for "The Bone Witch Trilogy," but unfortunately, it fell flat. The writing was overly descriptive, bordering on tedious, and the pacing was incredibly slow. The world-building lacked detail and left me with more questions than answers. I also found the plot to be predictable and lacking in originality. The ending, which should have been climactic, felt rushed and unsatisfying. Overall, I was left unimpressed and wouldn't recommend this trilogy to fellow fantasy enthusiasts.
5. Sarah - 3 stars
"The Bone Witch Trilogy" had its moments, but it didn't live up to the hype for me. While the concept was intriguing, the execution was lacking. The story often meandered and lost focus, making it difficult to stay engaged. The characters were interesting, but their development was inconsistent. The author attempted to create a unique magical world, but it felt disjointed and confusing at times. I wished for more action and a more cohesive story, but unfortunately, it didn't deliver fully.
