The Sennentuntschi Curse: Revisiting a Dark Chapter in History

By admin

The Sennentuntschi curse of the Alps is a chilling and mysterious tale that originates from the alpine regions of Switzerland. This folk legend centers around the creation of an artificial woman, known as the Sennentuntschi, who is brought to life using straw, cloth, and wax. The story goes that a group of lonely and isolated herdsmen in the mountains creates the Sennentuntschi in order to fulfill their desires and alleviate their loneliness. However, this creation becomes much more than they bargained for. The Sennentuntschi develops a life of her own and begins to possess supernatural powers. Legend has it that the Sennentuntschi is capable of shape-shifting and appears to be an innocent young woman during the day.

I love these little Pagan Portals books , they are a quick read but don't be fooled into thinking there's not much to them. This book is packed full of info . Everything from Moon lore , Moon Deities , planting with the Moon and Moon crafts and everything else in between including recipes for incenses and oils. It is suitable for both beginners and old crones like me who have been on their path for many years. Rachel writes in a down to Earth and chatty style , and reading it feels like chatting to a good friend over a cup of tea. I love all her books and refer back to them constantly for ideas and will keep on doing so for many years. Moon Magic is one of those books that just makes you really want to go out and try these things for yourself , her enthusiasm for her path shines through in her writing. The only surprise for me is how cheap this book is for the amount of information in it. I hope Rachel continues to keep on writing. ~ Sue P, Amazon

If you ever wanted to find anything out to do with the moon, then this is your book! The rituals within are so straight forward, with no complicated ingredients or timescales. I particularly enjoyed her index of moon goddesses. Patterson's writing style is conversational but at the same time instructive. It is also great to pick up and read as a reference book and infact the only down side of the book is that its too short - I would have liked more!! ~ Vate pathfollower 'Goddess', Amazon

Rachel writes in a delightful, down-to-earth style and transcends borders. Although she writes with British English, her meaning is so crystal clear that I as an American have no trouble following her. She reminds us of our ties to one another all over the world, and points out that the moon's phases are the same for all of us on any given night, whether we are viewing her majestic beauty in Australia, China or Europe. I like that sense of connection that Rachel seems to interweave through the entire book, and look forward to reading more. ~ Elflover, Amazon

This is the fourth book of Rachel's I have read - I like her easy writing style, and look forward to her future works! I read this book from cover to cover and found it very interesting. I knew nothing about the Moon, and will be dipping in and out of it, in the future. ~ Margo, Amazon

I am so excited that Rachel Patterson is back with her amazing book on Moon Magic. This book is full of the awe and wisdom of the beautiful Luna that we in the craft love, honour and respect. It has to be the most informative book out there on the moon and how we can work with her energies to harness our magick. There are in depth chapters that focus on each of the moon phases; waxing, waning, full and new. However it also details how the waxing and waning gibbous moons can be worked with effectively, something I haven't seen in any pagan book that I have read. What I particularly loved about this book was the additional Moon Magic correspondences, such as crystals, oil recipes, herbs, colours, written guided meditation, spells and moon cycle ritual. I know from my own personal practice that it is such a huge relief now to have this "Go To Moon Magic Bible" to discover what crystals and herbs I should be working with in a particular moon phase. Rachel also details how the moon is related to the Triple Goddess and includes a guided meditation for you to follow, she does this also for the Moon Dieties chapter where she shares short insightful information on some of the goddesses one may choose to work with. There are chapters also on; Celtic Tree calendar Moon Names Moon Divination Moon Charms Moon Crafts, Faeries, Angels and Werewolves Planting with the Moon . and so much more. Rachel has created a Moon Magic reference tool that is beyond the expectations of any Moon book out there. It really is the comprehensive guide, the ultimate guide even. It is a real addition to any Grimoire or Book of Shadows out there and if you like working with the moon, this book will only enhance that experience for you and add to your spiritual development. ~ Dawn Brierley, http://witchinside.blogspot.co.uk/

Don't let its length fool you; this little book packs a powerful punch. As full as it could possibly be with useful information and practical activities, Pagan Portals Moon Magic provides a clear and direct interpretation of moon lore. Touching on a wide range of lunar-related subjects from moon-phase correspondences to astrology and Tarot, Rachel Patterson guides the reader through the practical aspects of rituals, spells and meditations based on the moon. The recipes for oils, incense and bath salts add depth and functionality to a book that is a quick read but that won't stay on the shelf for long; the person lucky enough to own a copy will page through it again and again for reference at every phase of the moon ~ Laura Perry, GoodReads

Pagan Portals is, as the name suggests, a series of books (by various authors) with the aim of introducing various aspects of Paganism. Moon Magic seems a staple in this diet, as there are few branches of Paganism that don’t require at least some familiarity with the cycles of the moon. My initial concern is that this book may have little to offer the experienced practitioner. Just looking at the contents page dispels these fears instantly. Not only does Rachel (also known as Tansy Firedragon) cover what I would think of as ‘The Basic’ such as the phases of the moon, Esbats and some of the more well-known moon rituals, she also brings a fascinating amount of detail including working with cords, charms and supernatural creatures. So rubbing my hands together gleefully at the prospect of learning something new about my favourite satellite, I dive right in. Rachel writes in an accessible style that is very inclusive to readers of all aptitudes. Facts are listed in well written, easy to consume bites, and each section that stems after is broken down in such a way it could almost be used as a reference book. Each moon phase has its own correspondences and magic, so it’s easy enough to flick through to find what you need at a specific time. I would find the information on oils and crystals particularly useful. The meditations included are beautiful; someone really needs to make a podcast of these though so they can be downloaded and played at whim! We move from the phases of the moon into the seasonal moon and examine different ways of using a moon calendar including relating it to the controversial Celtic Tree calendar. I’m glad she includes this though; it shows that moon magic and timings are not just for Wicca, but for any path. I am particularly pleased with the Planting with the Moon chapter; this is such a simple aspect of biodynamic agriculture but so many people forget the impact the Moon has on plants and the soil. I’ve often used lunar agrarian principles for my own garden and others’, but this chapter teaches me things I never knew and will definitely implement myself. This book is very short and as such you really have no excuse to not read it. If you have even the slightest interest in Paganism, Magic, natural living or astrology, this book will be relevant to you. The moon affects all of us, after all! Rachel brings a wealth of information together in such a way that you can go back to this book time and again, without it ever feeling old. The style is simple and full of common sense, yet magical and wondrous at the same time. Quite an achievement. ~ Mabh Savage, http://soundsoftime.wordpress.com/

Reviews for "The Sennentuntschi Curse: A Bone-Chilling Tale from the Mountains"

1. John - 1/5
The movie "Snnentuntschi curse of the alos" was without a doubt one of the worst films I have ever seen. From the confusing storyline to the poor acting, there was nothing redeeming about this movie. The plot was all over the place, making it difficult to follow and understand what was going on. The actors seemed disinterested in their roles, delivering their lines with no emotion or conviction. Overall, I would not recommend wasting your time on this film.
2. Lisa - 2/5
I was really disappointed with "Snnentuntschi curse of the alos". The concept seemed intriguing, but the execution fell flat. The pacing was incredibly slow, making it difficult to stay engaged in the story. The characters were underdeveloped and lacked any real depth. Additionally, the dialogue felt forced and unnatural. While the cinematography was visually appealing, it couldn't make up for the lackluster storytelling. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this movie unless you have nothing else to watch.
3. Mark - 1/5
I regret watching "Snnentuntschi curse of the alos". The film was an absolute mess from start to finish. The plot was convoluted and made little sense, leaving me confused and frustrated. The characters were unlikable and lacked any real development. The performances were wooden and unconvincing, making it hard to connect with any of the characters. The movie dragged on with unnecessary scenes and failed to deliver any genuine scares or suspense. I would advise avoiding this film at all costs.
