This had been particularly annoying at major sporting events, when the new "swearing" symbol (officially known by its Unicode name as "Serious Face With Symbols Covering Mouth") might have been useful.

The Emoji 5.0 update has added a gender-neutral adult.

It has also brought in a gender-neutral older adult for users.
The bearded person is another emoji that has been sought after, with a petition online to bring about the change.
Woman with headscarf
This emoji, also known as the hijab emoji, was added after a petition by a 15-year-old girl from Germany who had realised there were no emoji on the list that represented her.

This emoji is supposed to be a person in a steam room, but Apple has interpreted it as a shower emoji
Another new character that could prove popular shows a mother breast-feeding. The new emoji was proposed by a nurse at University College Hospital. Rachel Lee wrote in her proposal: "The lack of a breastfeeding emoji represents a gap in the Unicode Standard given the prevalence of breastfeeding in cultures around the world, and throughout history."
