NEW YORK — Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero was the only unanimous selection to the NBA All-Rookie First Team announced by the NBA on Monday night.

Banchero, who last month received the 2023 NBA Rookie of the Year award, received all the possible 100 First Team votes and 200 total points.
Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Jalen Williams was close behind with 99 first-place votes and 199 points overall. The other members of the All-Rookie First Team are Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler (195 points), Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (185 points) and Indiana Pacers swingman Benedict Mathurin (170 points).
Banchero is the 11th Magic player to be selected to an All-Rookie First Team. The others are forward Dennis Scott (1990-91), center Shaquille O’Neal (1992-93), guard Anfernee Hardaway (1993-94), forward Matt Harpring (1998-99), swingman Mike Miller (2000-01), forward Drew Gooden (2002-03), center Dwight Howard (2004-05), guard Victor Oladipo (2013-14), guard Elfrid Payton (2014-15) and forward Franz Wagner (2021-22).
The Magic selected Banchero No. 1 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. Banchero played and started in 72 games this season with Orlando, averaging a team-high 20 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 33.7 minutes per game and was just the sixth NBA rookie in the past 50 seasons (since 1973-74) to average 20-plus points, 6-plus rebounds and 3-plus assists per game (minimum 50 games).
He was named the NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month four consecutive times, from December 2022 through March/April 2023.
Detroit and Houston dominated this year’s All-Rookie Second Team. Pistons guard Jaden Ivey led the Second Team with 142 total points, and center Jalen Duren was second with 85 points. The other picks for the NBA All-Rookie Second Team were Houston Rockets forward Jabari Smith Jr. (72 points), San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan (66 points) and Rockets forward Tari Eason (47 points).
