Craft a cute witch hat for free with this crochet tutorial

By admin

A witch hat is a classic and iconic accessory for Halloween costumes. If you want to create your own witch hat using your crochet skills, you're in luck! There are various patterns available online that you can follow to create a witch hat at no cost. Crochet patterns often provide step-by-step instructions and even video tutorials to make the process easier. To find a free pattern, you can start by searching on crafting websites, such as Ravelry or Pinterest, or even on search engines like Google. When searching for a crochet pattern, be sure to specify that you are looking for a free pattern, as some websites may offer both free and paid patterns. Once you have found a suitable pattern, gather the materials needed for the project.

While crochet hats do stretch a bit, it s important to be aware that you will always get the best results when you take the time to measure the head. Next, you ll want to begin crocheting in the round, and increase evenly until your flat circle has a circumference that will fit the right head size.

Once you have found a suitable pattern, gather the materials needed for the project. Typically, you will need yarn in your desired color, a crochet hook of the appropriate size, and a darning needle to weave in loose ends. Some patterns may also require additional materials, such as buttons or ribbon, for extra embellishments.

Yes, I know, I know. I haven't been posting here much as of the past year! Honestly, I just haven't had the time, or the time to even crochet (gasp!) I am working full time as an assistant market manager for a well known paint company, and. for myself- always the entrepreneur- as owner, maker, mixer, marketer, manager, shipper, et etc etc for my nail polish company, Atlantic Elixir. I am going to shamelessly plug my own business here. these photos for the Insta Witch Hat were taken for my nail polish biz (that's why you see so many hands!) by the same name, Insta Witch Nail Polish.

Getting back to crochet now, I really did enjoy making this hat! I am going to also wear it on Halloween :) I wanted to size it all out for smaller sizes, but alas. life gets in the way and I know I'm not going to have time. Time (sigh) I wish I had more of it.

I hope you enjoy the pattern!

Hi! Was just wondering if you have a video tutorial on this or if you could enlighten me on row 48? And then it goes back to row 46? Sorry I’m just confused on that part 😅 Reply Delete

Actually, ignore me. I just reread it for the thousandth time and it finally clicked! Sorry 😅 Delete

Anonymous August 4, 2022 at 7:34 PM Would you be willing to explain I’m working on it now and I’m lost Delete Anonymous October 5, 2022 at 5:27 PM

You work in back row for 47 then you for row 48 go and work in the front stitches on row 46 so 47&48 are worked on row 46 just one in back stitch one in front. It makes a cute little rim on the outside of the hat before the brim starts Delete

I get that part but what about row 49? Im new to crochet so I’m having a hard time understanding how to start row 49. Delete

Anonymous October 28, 2022 at 7:16 PM

I’m also confused by what to do with row 49. Are we supposed to work into the stitches that went in BLO or the ones that went into FLO? Delete

Anonymous November 9, 2022 at 3:07 PM

Row 49, just do your 1st HDC into the next stich, and proceed. It's not separated, it just continues in the round, without doing row joins in between. the rows stack up, in the same way a soft serve cone does, it just spirals. Delete

Love this pattern! I'm on my 2nd one. My friends love it too, and it looks like I finally have a crochet gift to give that will be loved and worn. LOL Reply Delete

Hello I was wondering if this is uk or uk terminology? I love it and I am looking forward to making my first one😁 Reply Delete

Since it uses SC at the beginning it's likely US terminology. UK doesn't use SC, it's called double crochet. Delete

Made this for myself and my s/o instantly stole it -- thank you so much!! Reply Delete

So. either rounds 34-46 are completely unnecessary, or my stitching tension is not right, because i have attempted this hat several times now and it ends up being way longer/bigger proportionately compared to the example photo. The only time it looks about right is my recent version where i folded in that section of stitching to shorten it. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you. Reply Delete

Same. Near as I can work out, if you want the hat shorter on top, just cut out a few of those rows between 34-46. Or add more if you wanna elongate and make it slouchy/droopy/cottagecore Delete

Mermaid Fish Tail Treat Bags -free crochet pattern-

I had been approached by a regular customer of mine, a mother of two small children, to create some treat/gift bags for the upcoming birthday of her little girl. With the Bubble Guppies (kids tv show) as the theme, our first thought was to create character bags for each child. However, instead we agreed on mermaid tail or fish tail bags, keeping in theme of the tv show, but making the bags similar to one another. (and avoiding any child conflict on wanting another child's bag instead:) ) I am quite pleased with the result, and have decided to share this free pattern with you today! Starting from the bottom up, you will work the tail fin back and forth in short rows, where the first and last row are joined, and continue to work up in rounds. The top decorative edge is made by using the crocodile stitch, and finally finished off with the simple drawstring. Photos and hdc crocodile stitch tutorial included! Cabled Headband Hat w/big Button -free crochet pattern-

Here it is, my version of the crochet cabled headband slouchy hat with a great big button! I've been making this hat for over two years now, and it's still my top seller at local craft fairs, markets, and custom orders. I've honestly been making it free form and from memory, but recently decided to actually write it down so that I can share it with you. It's a very cute hat, and only requires knowledge of the basic stitches, plus the crab stitch (otherwise known as rsc - reverse single crochet) and working over post stitches. The highlight of this hat, really, is the giant button. You can find them in all sorts of places, but I buy mine online from a Canadian (because I'm in Canada and shipping is faster to me) yarn company called knitca.com Designed By: Farrah Hodgson Skill Level: Intermediate Materials: 1 ball of Loops & Thread Impeccable; color Soft Taupe used in pattern; 277 yds/253 m; 4.5 oz/127.5g (or similar) *Note: I usual

Baby Sport Diaper Cover -free crochet pattern-

I had been asked recently to make a baby blanket, and when I was done, I had a bit of yarn left over. So I was thinking about using up the rest of my baby yarn to make a cute hat and diaper cover set to match the baby's blanket theme. I've never made a diaper cover before, and I didn't think it would be too hard to find a free pattern, and it wasn't. . except that every single pattern that I found used medium worsted weight yarn, and I wanted to use my baby light sport weight yarn! So that's how this pattern came to be. This is an easy pattern starting with the top band, continuing all of the way around to the opposite end by using simple hdc stitches. Then the border is worked in sc stitches, and finished off by sewing on 2 buttons. Make it all one color, or add a sporty stripe. Enjoy! I was really disappointed with this pattern. The instructions were unclear and confusing, and I ended up having to start over multiple times. The finished hat didn't even resemble a witch hat at all. I wasted a lot of time and yarn on this project, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

I was excited to find a free crochet pattern for a witch hat, but this one was a letdown. The instructions were incomplete and skipped over important steps, leaving me guessing and struggling to figure out what to do. The final result was a misshapen and lopsided hat that I couldn't even wear. I would advise anyone looking to crochet a witch hat to look for a different pattern.

I had high hopes for this crochet project, but unfortunately, it fell short. The pattern was poorly written, with many errors and inconsistencies. It was frustrating to follow, and I ended up abandoning the project halfway through. I expected better quality and clarity from a crochet pattern labeled as "no cost." I don't recommend this pattern to others, as it was a waste of my time and effort.
