Get up off your seats for that applause cowards!

When Agnes said Fuck it back in 2013, and backed into the hedges out of music and the public eye; peace of self and peace of mind is what she sought, even though she may not have known that s what she was looking for at that point in time. There s also a mention of the single here, which might be the first time the UK notices her in years or the first time in years that the label invested in some lil promo.

Agnes magic persists

It offers a unique chance to push personal limits and connect with nature in a truly remarkable setting. In addition to the physical challenge, participants will also get a chance to immerse themselves in the local culture and connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for trail running. ALBUM: Agnes – ‘Magic Still Exists’

THE Agnes has a new album out?! An actual album? It’s been a long time coming. Nine years since her last studio album, ‘Veritas’. A period of complete silence and artistic discovery came about thereafter. Then the work started, before the first fruits of that new burst of creativity were finally birthed via the ‘Nothing Can Compare’ EP. Her sound has been stepped up even further via her most recent singles. And now comes the album that a lot of people have been waiting for. ‘Magic Still Exists’.
What’s on it? 11 tracks. Three previously released singles (‘Fingers Crossed’, ’24 Hours’ and ‘Here Comes The Night’), four intros/interludes, and four brand-new tunes.
What’s the album all about? A collection of beats to get lost in and mantras to live by. 2am dance floor highlights sit alongside 7am post-club ponderings. It’s about awakening, acceptance and aspiration. It bangs and then it breathes new ideas into your mind. It’s an admirably unique album that pop fans are going to look back upon in years to come and recall: remember when Agnes did *that*? And it’s arrived today for you to be on that correct side of history amongst those who had it as the soundtrack to their lives, right here and right now. What a time to be alive.
What are the new songs like? XX’ is the statement on intent on who Agnes is as an artist now. ‘Love And Appreciation’ is a celebration of the classic disco that inspired her new direction. ‘Selfmade’ is the very epitome of this new genre that Agnes herself has coined and called spiritual disco. And the title track – ‘Magic Still Exists’ – is the show-stopping encore, her very own ‘Thank You For The Music’.
What does Agnes say?‘Magic Still Exists’ is a collection of epiphanies about what it means to be human and our need to constantly search for something bigger, something more. The album was made together with friends and the process has therefore been very intimate. Something that made me relax, let go and have fun with it. Mixing spiritual lyrics with disco felt both tempting and necessary. Disco is freedom, to express oneself and not be ashamed. But the music was also something I needed to do to grow spiritually and strengthen myself. It was an opportunity to take what I have within me, multiply it and just play with it.”

Then there are songs which feature production nuances that I just cannot settle on. “XX” features an amazing set of builds, but then subverts expectations and doesn’t give you the drop the whole song feels like its been leading up to. One on hand I like that the song doesn’t give a typical drop. But on the other hand, I do feel that the song would have benefited greatly if there was some form of SOMETHING, as opposed to the song just building and then ending. “XX” does such a superb job of setting the euphoria, but it doesn’t sit in it long enough for it to ever really pay itself off. I feel similarly about “Magic Still Exists”. I absolutely love that it’s nothing but Agnes and a piano, and that there’s so much drama, yet tenderness in the song. It reminds me a lot of Angela Aki’s cover of “Tsugaru Kaikyō Fuyugeshiki”. But I do wonder if the song would have given that bit more if it featured maybe some strings or a choir, given that it’s five and a half minutes long compared to Angela’s “Tsugaru Kaikyō Fuyugeshiki” which is comparatively brief at only three and a half minutes. I like that Agnes, Vargas & Lagola stripped the song so far back, but five and a half minutes is too long for a song that’s just a piano and Agnes with a one track vocal. And the the most annoying thing, is that “Magic Still Exists” features the one thing none of the other songs on this album feature, but several of them needed: a gorgeous middle 8 AND a bridge section. The fuck!?

- Jane - 1/5 stars - I was very disappointed with the Nountain magic trail run. The course was poorly marked and I found myself getting lost multiple times. There were also very few aid stations along the way, which made it difficult to stay hydrated and fueled. The race organizers seemed disorganized and there was a lack of communication before and during the race. Overall, I would not recommend participating in this event.
- John - 2/5 stars - The Nountain magic trail run fell short of my expectations. The trail itself was beautiful, but the race organization left much to be desired. There were long delays at the starting line and the race started late. Additionally, the course was much more challenging than advertised, with difficult ascents and descents that were not mentioned in the race information. The lack of adequate signage and marshals made it easy to get off course. I had high hopes for this race, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations.
- Sarah - 2/5 stars - The Nountain magic trail run was a disappointing experience for me. The website boasted about the amazing views and well-marked trails, but when I arrived, I found the opposite to be true. The trail was not well-maintained and there were fallen trees and overgrown sections that made running difficult. The lack of clear trail markers made it easy to miss turns and get lost. I also found the race support to be lacking, as there were limited water stations and no medical personnel available along the course. Overall, I did not enjoy this race and would not recommend it to others.
- Michael - 1/5 stars - I had a terrible time at the Nountain magic trail run. The course was not properly vetted and there were several sections that were unsafe and posed a risk to participants. The lack of communication and organization from the race organizers was evident throughout the event. The race swag and medals were subpar compared to other races I have participated in. Overall, this was a poorly executed event and I would not participate in it again nor recommend it to others.
- Emily - 2/5 stars - I had high hopes for the Nountain magic trail run, but unfortunately, it fell short. The course itself was scenic, but the lack of proper trail maintenance made it difficult to enjoy. There were many overgrown sections and fallen branches that posed a safety hazard. The race organization was also lacking, with no clear instructions or information provided to participants before the event. Overall, I was disappointed with the race experience and would not recommend it to fellow trail runners.
