The very first year I knew what a special place it was when my son Bob, then age 7, cried his first night home because he missed his counselor so much. Wish List

Before Camp Woodmont existed as it does today, it was a wish—a humble wish Mr. and Mrs. B had to run a camp for kids of all ages. And when that wish became a reality, the impact was so much more than they could’ve anticipated. It’s no secret that camp is a magical place; during the summer months, it seems that so many wishes are granted on a daily basis. In preparation for the upcoming summer, we’ve taken on some big projects up at camp. Trust me, it’s gonna be the best summe r yet! That being said, we wanted to share the wish list of items we’ve put together to continue moving toward the very attainable goal of making 2018 our best year yet. Seven years ago, I waved good-bye to my 8 year old daughter as I dropped her off at Camp Woodmont. I thought it would be the hardest 2 weeks of my life. My son and daughter have attended Camp Woodmont for 6 years! They started as campers and have progressed to being a Counselor-in-Training and a Counselor’s Assistant. I never have to worry about their safety or happiness while they are at Camp Woodmont, and I love that they spend weeks in the mountains and are having too much fun to miss video games, television, laptops or smart phones. The first year I worried that they had been homesick, but when I picked them up the first words I heard were “Mom – can we stay another week?”

Going to Camp Woodmont has been one of the best experiences for our 10-year-old son. Raising children in today’s high-tech and social-media driven world is so challenging. Camp Woodmont allows our child to be himself, make friends, and have fun in a safe, nurturing environment. It’s a true break from living in the city where our kids grow up too fast. His experience at camp has had an incredible impact on his self-confidence and willingness to be himself!

We love Camp Woodmont! Both of my children have attended Camp Woodmont every summer for the past 12 years – first as campers, then as Counselor Assistants, and now as Counselors in Training. They begin a “countdown to camp” in January, as plans begin to reunite with other campers who also come back year after year. Not only have they made lifelong friendships, but many wonderful memories. As a parent, I love that they are safe, well cared for, and actually looking forward to spending time outside away from technology.

My kids never felt more welcome at a place they had just showed up at. You know you’re with friends immediately. They are ready to go back as soon as we are gone. Looking forward to spending our seventh year with Camp Woodmont. We have lifetime friends and family since being a part of your camp. Love you and miss you all.

It is hard to leave your children with people you do not know for an extended period of time. After one visit at Camp Woodmont, I was as comfortable leaving my children with the staff as I am with leaving my children with family. My kids ask all year how long it is before they go back. I can’t find anything that holds their attention as much as Camp Woodmont. I highly recommend you make Camp Woodmont part of your family traditions.

Thank you so much for the years of experience working at Camp Woodmont. Camp is a magical place and I will cherish the memories forever. Nowhere else can you bond with a group of people as quickly as there and nowhere else could you sit around with a group of kids before a meal with them making up Camp Woodmont pick-up lines and laugh until you cry. I think the coolest thing about camp is the fact that yes when you leave it is hard because you leave a piece of your heart at camp, but you also get to take a piece of camp with you in your heart when you leave. That is why Camp Woodmont is so special. It has all of the hearts of those who have visited in the past and will remain in the hearts of those who attend forever. That is why going to Camp Woodmont feels like coming home.

Our 2 daughters have attended Camp Woodmont for the last 8 years. They haven’t missed a summer, and BEG to stay longer! They absolutely love it and as a parent I couldn’t be more pleased with every experience they’ve had. Everyone at camp is dedicated to the children, their well being and ensuring the experience is spectacular. Even after we moved to another state, there were no other camps that compared to Camp Woodmont! This year our youngest son, age 7 will attend and keep the tradition going.

My two children have been Camp Woodmont campers since they were very little. Camp Woodmont has been like a ‘Home Away from Home’ for each of our 3 children over the last 7 years. The friends, memories and things they learned will last a life time. I’ve seen my children work their way up the ladder; starting as campers to Counselors in Training (CITs) and finally to Counselor’s Assistants. Camp Woodmont is an old fashioned summer camp just like the one I attended as a kid, and that was exactly the sort of experience I wanted my children to have.

1. Jessica - 2/5 stars - Mysterious magical beast routes didn't live up to my expectations at all. The storyline was confusing and lacked coherence. It felt like the author was just throwing in random magical creatures without any real purpose or connection. The character development was also lacking, as I found it hard to connect or care about any of the protagonists. Overall, I was left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed with this book.
