Pour is highly viscous and black as night. Absolutely pours like motor oil. Thin, but persistent beige head with good retention. After a few minutes it receded to a thin, spotty cap and a persistent ring. Overall a good looking beer.

Aroma is rich and chocolaty. It's not the most complex aroma, but that doesn't matter, because it smells delicious.

Interestingly the taste departs from the nose in that it's all about the deep, roasted malts. I know this was brewed with molasses, but I don't pick them up or any associated sweetness. It's heavy on the roast and accompanying bitterness. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I would have guessed that this was a coffee infused beer such is it's taste. Nice full mouthfeel.

Overall, I'm really enjoying this one, especially as a breakfast beer. Thanks @foundersasap!

12 oz bottle traded in from superspak. Poured into smokestack snifter.

Deep rich black, not as thick as I've seen but still pretty nice and forms a tall beige head of 2 fingers, leaving sheets of lace as it recedes.

Aromas of molasses and oatmeal raisin cookie. Slight burnt toast, dank ashy hop, and vanilla coffee.

Flavor brings huge molasses, even more molasses, and in comes the bitterness. Whew what bitterness. Very heavy handed. Lingering flavors of raisin, horehound, leather, heavy handed hop bitterness, vanilla extract, burnt toast, ash, and shit, there it is, more hop bitterness.

Feel is creamy and full, with a buzzing carbonation in the background. Dries on the palate with sticky resins.

Overall, I'd akin this to an Imperial Black IPA with molasses more than anything. It's very bitter, and if you like molasses, this one will be your pride and joy. Personally it's too bitter for me and more than I was expecting.

Pours a deep, dark, brown to black roil. A firm, mocha colored head pushes up nearly 2 fingers high, then settles to a very respectable and defiant 1/2 inch that stays around for a solid 2-3 minutes. Defiant lacing is prevalent throughout the ride.
Smell is definitely carrying some molasses. Also getting notes of roasted caramel malt, general roast, some coffee, and maybe some green pepper.
Flavor is dominated by molasses. Its a rather flat sweetness akin to sorghum. Roasted malts, coffee, prunes, tobacco, green pepper, and finally hints of rich peat.
Mouthfeel is full and round. Low to medium carbonation.
Overall, I think I'm just a bit hard to please along the lines of molasses. I've had a few stouts with this sugar, and have had similar experiences.

Man, like the marshmallow man on a blind date, this one is smooth. Rich and chewy, I wouldn’t mind sharing this one with my friend Louie. For real though, beer is legit like when your date offers to go Dutch.

I can get used to this one.

a beast of an imperial stout, super flavorful, brewed with molasses and you really can taste it. it looks like they do about a million variants of it, barrels and fruits and all sorts of things, and i would love to try them, this seems perfectly suited for that type of additional treatment, but as a base beer its pretty epic too, really in need of nothing, and easily my favorite of their non hoppy stuff that we got to drink at the brewery when we visited, maybe my favorite overall. its super thick and frothy from the tap, leaves long inky legs on the edges of my glass and has a shaving cream textured head, mocha colored and lasting. i smell and taste the molasses against the dark grain right away. sometimes things can be so sweet they exhibit some bitterness, and the molasses is like that here, especially with the roasted grain, bitter after its sweet, and so while this is diabetic in the middle, its quite bitter later on. awesome depth here from rum soaked raisins to newly cut cigar to grilled peach and honey, molasses for sure, maple, cooked berries, espresso, tons of nuance and its awesome. its also assertively boozy so a slow sipper for sure, time in wood may mellow this and i would be curious to experience that for myself. i taste this forever after i swallow it, it covers my entire palate and doesnt really go away, i dont mind because i like it so much. the variants have meintrigued for sure, but this wants for nothing. complex and professional. great stuff!

Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts the whole glass. Thick soapy lacing clings on around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Insane appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, nuttiness, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/smoky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, molasses, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, nuttiness, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/smoky earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char and herbal/peppery hop bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 10.2% after the finish. Overall this is an amazing Russian imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, molasses, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV; with the moderately bitter/drying finish. Extremely rich and complex malts; balanced earthy hops and restrained fruity yeast notes. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Save your money and invest in a regular fridge instead.
