Has anyone ever used a product called "Magic Shaving Powder"?

I am just curious about this product. I know you don't need a razor and brush but I worked with a guy a while back who used this stuff and he always had a face so clean and clear that it made me very curious about this product.

P.S. please feel free to move this post if needed.

Not Much. its not really a shave powder as such, more like a chemical treatment.

I actually used Nair on my thigh one time just to test it out. Every single hair folicle turned into a red bump. I'd hate to see this on my face.

The original formula stinks to high heaven. I remember my father using the original formula and being force to shaved in the back yard due to it's smell. Some of the other formulas smell a little better.

In my quest to end PFB, I tried this stuff for a few years. You have to be extremely careful with how long you leave it on, or you will suffer from some serious chemical burns.

In college my friend tried to use this stuff. He read the instructions which said to leave on for 5 - 7 minutes. He applied it and waited 5 - 7 minutes, big mistake. He did not take into consideration the time it took him to apply it. He burned a nice layer of skin off, and sported a scalped beard area.

This also doesn't like sweat, your face has to be dry. They also tell you not to wash your face before hand. Oh yeah and don't even think about using alcohol or alcohol based product before or after using this stuff. I still have a two cans of this stuff. Man! I never throw stuff away! Be happy that you can use a blade.

Well, in all fairness to this product, it does work well if you follow the timing guidelines, and your skin can handle the chemicals. The chemicals perform a mild form of exfoliation. However, this is definitley not a product for stupid people.

Let's see what it says:

DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT WITH A RAZOR
Caution: Contains thioglycolate. Follow directions carefully.
This product may cause skin irritation. If skin is inflamed or has
skin abrasions, facial sores or pustules., consult a dermatologist
before using this product.

* Wait 36 hours before using a razor, shaving product or device.
* Do not use after perspiring heavily. Do not wash face before use.
* Do not use after prolonged sun exposure.
* Do not use with any after-shave product containing alcohol.
* Timing is crucial to avoid excessive irritation. For external use only.
If power or the mixture gets into eyes, rinse repeatedly, with water.
Magic Shaving Powder is used only to remove facial hair, Keep away
from children

themba,
The way you've described the Magic Shaving Powder, especially the original formula, I'm at a loss as to why more of us have not switched from our DE razors to this.

Although for anyone interested I will gladly take your gently used DE's off your hands and ship a couple of these to your home, on me. PM me if interested.

Seriosly though, this should have a stupid human warning on it.

Reviews for "Comparing the Ingredients of Magic Shaving Powder with Traditional Shaving Creams"

- Sarah - 1 star - I was really disappointed with the magic shaving powder ingredients. I decided to try it because of all the hype, but it did absolutely nothing for me. My skin was left feeling irritated and red, and it didn't even remove all the hair. I definitely won't be using this product again.
- John - 2 stars - I have sensitive skin, so I was hoping that the magic shaving powder ingredients would be gentle enough for me. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case at all. After using it, my skin was left with a burning sensation, and I even ended up with a rash. Not to mention, it didn't seem to remove the hair as effectively as other products I've tried. I'll be looking for a different option next time.
- Emily - 2 stars - I was excited to try the magic shaving powder ingredients, but I was quite disappointed with the results. The powder was difficult to mix properly, and it ended up clumping together. It also had a strong chemical smell that I found unpleasant. Moreover, after using it, I noticed that my skin felt dry and rough. Overall, it didn't live up to the claims for me.
