Understanding the Rarity of Magic Mush in Isaac: Chances of Finding It

I suggest and think it should be removed from all item pools and only avalable exclusively from mushrooms (and maybe from I'm Error room too). That way you actually work for it to get it and rewarding for blowing up all these mushrooms

Its classified as a rare item, along with brimstone, ipecac, dr/epic fetus, god head and a few more. these rare items have a regular chance to spawn normally, but once you obtain one of them, the rest drastically reduce in chances. the magic mushroom is special because its a lower pool chance to get when breaking mushrooms.

These items are too powerful together and are difficult to get with others, and plus having good items is never a bad thing, just too many of them is.

Hold on, since when can you get Magic Mushroom on golden chests?
The only possible pools for it to spawn are: Item Room, Boss Room and mushrooms

Magic isn't rare when it has so many items pools, where you can get it from. Completely neglects %chance. I see it every single or second run. The Poop, brother boby or lemon mishap are 3x times rarer than this

Magic mushroom is no better than tech x or brimstone. It's an item that makes a run feel good. There's no reason to make it rarer unless you just want the game to be harder. But you should nerf all very strong items if that's the case.

Yeah, let's nerf all good items and while we're at it also get rid of all the hard bosses like Bloat (as someone else suggested in another thread). Oh, and since then there still will be items that are better than others and bosses that are harder than others, let's get rid of those as well so we can basically run through empty levels. Awesome idea.

Also, since you seem to love anecdotal evidence: I see magic mushroom pretty rarely. So there you have it. All is fine.

Everyone has their own RNG, you probably have noticed a persistent item that you get all the time not because it's common just because your particular RNG has been like that. For me though, I don't really get it that often enough. My RNG has been horrible as of lately and I haven't really gotten a single item I'd consider decent. The runs just feel boring because everything is a tear sponge and it takes like 5 minutes per floor. Not saying you should be overpowered but there should be a balance of good items every once in a while to keep the game exciting but sometime's that just doesn't work out with RNG in mind.

BTW ^ Bloat's not hard if you just stay in the back of it. It can only fire brimstone at you from the sides and in front.

"Good item"? More like overpowered. The amount of good items today is about 80%. In fact there so many overpowered and good items that items that used to be considered as good are now bellow average or trash. The game never has never been so easy to break to build. The reroll machine in the shop is one great example to greatly manipulate,cheese and break the game. The binding of isaac got so casualized that I find tag "hard" in store page is an insult and fake.

Hard bosses like bloat? Hello? The game supposed to get harder and challenging as you progress further. Second difficulty bosses mean ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if you're overpowered and can kill it in 1-5sec. Only bosses like Hush that has damage resistance are ballanced to have a chance to fight back.

If someone who really needs a buff it would be all bosses and enemies - they should get damage resistance. So you can still build your crazy overpowered build and enemies have chance to give some sort of challenge, but it wouldn't matter much, since how easy to break the game you still will able to melt them through their resistance any ways

You just grew very soft and have expectations of instant gratification.

5min per floor is actually pretty darn fast. Unless you're speed runer who only cares to beat the game as fast possible.

Second reason why you might think 5min per floor is slow is because how often you get strong dps builds every single time that game gladly provide with tear, damage ups is nearly guranteed

I'm telling from experience when comparing today isaac vs vanilla Rebirth and especially Original The Binding of Isaac

You can whine as much as you like, it's not going to be changed. Either live with it or play something else (or find a mod that suits your taste).

As stated before, magic mushroom isn't in the gold chest pool as far as I know, the only way you could get it from a chest is either with chaos, which shuffles what's in the item pools, (For example, it could make brimstone appear in angel rooms or shops instead of devil deals.) or in the chest/dark room, where every chest (except red chests) always spawn an item from several different item pools, or maybe a mod is messing things up.

Personally, I think magic mush is fine as is, I don't know about you, but I almost never find the damn thing anywhere in most runs. It's also not insanely game breaking on it's own, yes, it gives a big damage boost, but it doesn't increase tears which is just as, or even more important, then raw damage in many situations, and grabbing it makes other "special" items like brimstone and godhead, much more likely to be rerolled into something else by the game.

If you consider 5 minutes per quick floor you will never get to the bosh run and even in the dream to hush (correct me if I'm wrong but the game you bought today?) If so, I recommend you play more with any character without grabbing an item or without get some improvement you can finish the first 3 floors between 5 and 7 minutes (this obviously already happened to me and that's why I tell you), this with any character with azazel (playing basically perfect) in 3 minutes you do (the test is in my profile because I have the achievement of completing the game in less than 20 minutes), the most op items that come out on the first floor with more than 250 hours played are DEATH'S TOUCH, 20/20, STEVEN, CRICKET'S HEAD, PROPTOSIS, IPECAC, CHOCOLATE MILK (the latter is only op on your own with the forgotten).
I know this seems like a testament but it is the best way to explain to you that none of these items guarantees you the game by itself (the only one for me the chocolate milk and the forgotten since it gives you damage and brutal rank), but if you are still not convinced play with keeper or the lost with magic mushrom and tell me if that item was the key when you kill hush or delirium or if you have only the rebirth to mega satan
