Then follows a series of chapters in which Marigold encounters eccentric strangers including the strong-willed princes Varvara and the mysterious peddler Abel , equally eccentric family members including a seemingly endless parade of uncles and aunts , and a collection of cousins and friends who each bring change and challenge into Marigold s life.

Marigold is a dreamy and imaginative child who believes in fairies, magic, and other fantastical beings. She often finds herself lost in her own world, oblivious to the reality around her. Marigold's family consists of her free-spirited mother, her practical and somewhat strict father, her older sister Sylvia, and her younger brother Carl.

Information on L. M. Montgomery has practically become an industry on its own: multiple volumes of her Journals, her letters, and many works on Anne, and the author have been published. Many organizations to celebrate her works, have their own websites. Little known to most, LMM published many short works in many different magazines; many of these works have never been collected.
