Unleashing the Magic: Understanding the Aging Potential of Magic Door Cabernet

By admin

Magic Door Cabernet is a type of red wine that is known for its bold and robust flavors. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, this wine is often described as being full-bodied with a rich and complex taste profile. One of the notable characteristics of Magic Door Cabernet is its deep red color, which is often referred to as being "inky" or "dark." This color is a result of the grape skins being in contact with the juice during the fermentation process, which helps to extract the rich colors and flavors. In terms of taste, Magic Door Cabernet is known for its intense flavors of dark fruits, such as blackberries and black cherries. These flavors are complemented by notes of tobacco, leather, and cedar, which add complexity and depth to the wine.

Rather than discount their wine and erode the value of their brand, we found that wineries were willing to part with a certain percentage of their production for a reduced price. Armed with a copy of the latest Wine Spectator, founder Kevin Mehra set out on a mission to bring higher quality wine to the market for a better price.

These flavors are complemented by notes of tobacco, leather, and cedar, which add complexity and depth to the wine. Magic Door Cabernet is also known for its firm tannins, which give the wine structure and contribute to its ability to age well. This means that the wine can be enjoyed now, but also has the potential to improve with age.

Magic Door Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Napa Valley California 2018 (750ml)

This full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon is made from fruit harvested from vines on alluvial bench land on the valley hillsides of the Rutherford AVA.

Located in the center of Napa Valley, the Rutherford AVA is a result of two historical geological events. On the west side, the Mayacamas mountain range formed when tectonic plates pushed the ocean floor upwards, resulting in soils high in calcium. The east side of the valley consists of iron rich soils formed by ancient volcanic activity. This Cabernet Sauvignon is made from fruit harvested from vines on alluvial bench land on the valley's hillsides.

The grapes were sorted and de-stemmed at the winery before a traditional fermentation with daily pump overs. After fermentation, the wine was separated from the skins and moved to barrel where the secondary malolactic fermentation occurred. Once complete, the wine was racked once more and placed in barrel for another 12 to 18 months.

Tasting Notes

In the glass you will find aromas of dark cherry and cassis mixed with subtle layers of chocolate and cigar smoke. The wine's texture is full-bodied, smooth and toned with a long finish of savory dark fruit and cedar. This is a serious red wine from a classic Napa Valley vintage.

Magic Door Vineyards

Beneath the cyprus squint-eyed bandits watch

The far off sparkle of salty air

Once more imagining the wilderness

Unspoiled, barbarous, luxuriant

Nearby, painted toes glide between peculiar vines

A crown of poppies bounces on hilltops

Dancing sweetly in maniacal bliss

To a ballad of the birds and the breeze

Ninety + Cellars

We'll Admit It, We Love Great Wine

That’s why we started 90+ Cellars.

It all started in the spring of 2009. Armed with a copy of the latest Wine Spectator, founder Kevin Mehra set out on a mission to bring higher quality wine to the market for a better price. He started calling wineries with a history of high ratings to ask if they had wine for sale. Some told him to get lost, but in the end, he found a handful of wineries that liked his concept. The plan was simple: we put their wine behind our label, and sell it for less.

But why would wineries want to do that?

You may recall that the economy wasn’t in the best shape in 2009. Demand for premium and luxury wines had plummeted and inventories were piling up. Rather than discount their wine and erode the value of their brand, we found that wineries were willing to part with a certain percentage of their production for a reduced price.

It was a win/win scenario. Wineries got to sell more wine, and consumers got access to better wine at lower prices.

Our company and industry has changed quite a bit since we launched; but our mission and our ability to offer great wine for a great price has not. With our Wine Director, Brett Vankoski, we continue to seek out the best opportunities in the market and turn those into great values in the bottle for you.

Today, 90+ Cellars is one of the fastest growing wine brands in America. We are a modern day négociant – working with acclaimed wineries and vineyards to curate a portfolio of fine wines from all over the globe. We do this because we love great wine, and we want to make drinking great wine easier and more affordable for you.

Reviews for "Magic in Every Sip: Unlocking the Allure of Magic Door Cabernet"

1. Samantha - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with the Magic Door Cabernet. The flavor was flat and unremarkable, lacking the depth and complexity I expect from a good cabernet. The tannins were overpowering and left a bitter aftertaste that lingered unpleasantly. I was hoping for a richer and more enjoyable experience, but unfortunately, this wine fell short of my expectations.
2. Michael - 1 star - I had high hopes for the Magic Door Cabernet, but it turned out to be a major letdown. The wine lacked any distinct character and tasted incredibly bland. It was as if all the flavors were muted and indistinguishable. I found it difficult to finish a glass, let alone enjoy the whole bottle. I definitely would not recommend this wine to anyone looking for a quality cabernet.
3. Emily - 2 stars - The Magic Door Cabernet was a disappointment for me. The aroma was underwhelming, and the taste was nothing special. It lacked the fruitiness and complexity that I look for in a good cabernet. Additionally, I found the texture to be too thin and watery, lacking the smooth and velvety mouthfeel that makes a great wine. Overall, this wine did not live up to its promises and failed to impress.
