Merry Saturnalia! Which Christmas traditions are actually pagan?

Christmas is coming, but do you know which of your favourite things about the holiday were practiced by druids?

With snow in the air and mince pies in the supermarket, Saturnalia is on everyone’s mind.

That’s right, Saturnalia. Because many of our most treasured Christmas traditions are in fact, borrowed. In the early days of Christianity, would-be converters found it convenient to adapt already beloved solstice celebrations to their belief model, so it would be easier to convince others to follow them.

This means that our modern-day Christmas is in fact one in a long line of celebrations to brighten up the gloomy winter and look forward to the days lengthening.

It’s not that the whole of Christmas is plagiarised, but if you look you’ll see some long-running trends linked to pre-Christian Europeans. It turns out pagan traditions are everywhere at Christmas, so when you’re decorating your tree this year, think about our druid ancestors and what they would have made of your handiwork.

Reviews for "Get Ready to Be Amazed: Little Tikes Launches Magic Workshop"

I found the "Little Tikes Magic Workshop Announcement" to be underwhelming and disappointing. The advertisement promised an exciting and thrilling magic experience for children, but what we got was a poorly executed and lackluster event. The tricks performed were basic and unimpressive, not the mind-blowing illusions we were expecting. The workshop felt rushed and unorganized, with the presenter not properly engaging with the kids. Overall, I feel like we wasted our time and money on this event.

I attended the "Little Tikes Magic Workshop Announcement" with my daughter, and neither of us were impressed. The workshop was advertised as a hands-on experience where children could learn and perform magic tricks, but it turned out to be more like a lecture with very limited practical activities. The presenter didn't provide clear instructions, and the kids ended up being more confused than excited about magic. Additionally, the advertised magic kits were sold separately at an exorbitant price, which felt like a money grab. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this workshop to others looking for an engaging and interactive magical experience.

I thought the "Little Tikes Magic Workshop Announcement" would be a great opportunity for my son to learn some cool magic tricks, but it fell short of my expectations. The workshop lacked structure and direction, and the presenter seemed unprepared and unfamiliar with the tricks being taught. There was also a lack of materials and props provided, making it difficult for the kids to fully grasp and practice the tricks. My son left feeling frustrated and disappointed, and I regretted spending money on this poorly organized event. I would advise others to look for more reputable and well-planned magic workshops for their children.
