This container serves as a gateway to a world of wonder and mystery. At first glance, it may seem like an ordinary box, unassuming and plain. However, it is what lies within that truly astounds. Hello! My name is Kyle Wessel, I have been doing magic on the streets for a while now but really want to grow into a more stage-oriented type magician. As such, I was wondering where I could find things on grand illusions, especially ones where large objects come out of containers too small to apparently hold them. All comments, references, and otherwise relevant tips are greatly appreciated and I thank you all in advance!

Mark Wilson has quite some stuff on stage illusions - there is a section on that on his classic course on Magic.

Hope this helps!

But it'd be better if you give a bit more information.

Do a Google search for Osborne Illusions. At Paul's website you can buy books and plans. Also, check out Andrew Mayne's website because he has a number of easy to build illusions.

The appearing straw or the appearing cane will allow you to pull some very large objects from a small containers. Also, look into a square circle.

Joshua Jay's new book Big Magic Little Hands is FULL of illusions you can easily do with simple props.

Thanks all! I think these are all good starting points, but when I say pulling things out of too-small containers, I mean like pulling guitars out of a briefcase or just a good blueprint for a inconspicuous table with room to pull out a sword from a purse I place on it, etc.

Are you familiar with the bowling ball from briefcase illusion, the 8 foot straw production?

There are trick guitars and trick briefcases out there, and if I wanted to pull a sword from a purse I would opt for a gimmicked sword rather than a table.

There isn't really just one method out there that is best for all of the examples you mention. Is there a specific object that you want to produce from a specific container?

The production is something that is very classic, there are hundreds of objects out there that you can use with hundreds of methods.

I think that the straw production is one of the best with a really high impact and it is dead easy to do. Check out this performance of it at 3:13
