Exploring the Witch Goof: A Historical Perspective on Magical Mishaps

By admin

There has long been a fascination with witches in folklore and popular culture. They are often portrayed as mysterious and powerful beings with magical abilities. However, there is a wide range of opinions on whether or not witches are "good" or "evil". Some argue that witches are inherently evil and engage in dark and dangerous practices. They point to historical witch trials and accusations as evidence of their malevolent nature. On the other hand, there are those who believe that witches are misunderstood and unfairly demonized.

Death Rite Bird | Elden Ring Wiki

Death Rite Bird is a Field Boss in Elden Ring. These skeletal bird-like creatures are found throughout the lands between, usually at night. These are optional bosses as players are not required to defeat them in order to advance in Elden Ring, but they do provide useful items and Runes upon defeat. Unlike their weaker cousins the Deathbirds, they have a full set of wings and wield powerful ghostflame magic.

In the time when there was no Erdtree, death was burned in ghostflame. Deathbirds were the keepers of that fire.

Death Rite Bird Combat information

  • Stance: 120
  • Parryable: No
  • Is vulnerable to a critical hit after being stance broken
  • Undead type
  • Damage: Standard, Pierce, Magic
  • Inflicts: Frostbite, Death Blight

Negations (or Absorptions)

The negation numbers are the % of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40% of that damage by that type will go through and 60% will be negated. Bigger number = less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is.

Death Rite Bird Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Death Rite Bird:

  • Holy Water Pots can take advantage of its weakness to Holy damage and the pots' inherent 400% damage bonus against Undead enemies to do massive damage even at low Faith
  • The Sacred Blade skill is another great way for non-Faith builds to do Holy damage
  • Use Fallingstar Beast Jaw's skill, Gravity Bolt, when locked onto the Death Rite Bird's head to quickly break its stance
  • Blind spots include right under the Death Rite Bird or behind it, but ghostflame can limit even these locations
  • Be careful when locking onto its head, as it moves around quickly and can easily disorient you. It's a good idea to only lock onto its head when you're actively trying to attack it, and otherwise stay locked on its body
  • Stay on foot by default, and only get on Torrent briefly to evade specific attacks. A Death Rite Bird can leap a great distance, and the reach on its poker is long enough to clip you even when you're running at full speed on Torrent. The passive damage from its ghostlfame will also knock you off your horse quickly. Even ranged players should try to stay just outside the range of its swings, and keep the flexibility to dodge out of the way when it attacks
Melee Users

Stay close to its hind legs, time your dodges, and get a few swings in after every attack. Don't get greedy and attack more than a few times.

O Holy Fight: Because Death Rite Birds are both Undead and weak to Holy damage, melee builds with high Faith will have a particularly easy time defeating them. The Order's Blade sorcery is easy to get and will give your weapon a tremendous damage boost against this boss.

Magic and Ranged Users

Many of its abilities can one-shot you if you don't have high HP. Many more deal ghostflame chip damage even if you block, or cause lingering ghostflame that deals damage over time across a wide area. Between this and its ability to close distance rapidly and attack again even as you dodge, it's difficult to find an opportunity to safely attack from a distance. The lingering ghostflame also makes it difficult to stay in the safer areas behind them and near their feet. Play cautiously, focus on survival, and only get in attacks when you're confident you can do so safely.

It's Litany: For Faith-based magic builds, Litany of Proper Death will make short work of this fight. Because Death Right Birds are both Undead and weak to Holy damage, it will do a whopping 1400% extra damage. Just be aware that it will only work when the Death Rite Bird is touching the ground, so time the incantation carefully.

Death Rite Bird Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
The Death Rite Bird shares most of its attacks and counters with the Deathbird. Be aware that most of these attacks do additional magic damage and inflict Frostbite.
Flying Sweep Flies up and then back down in a corkscrew motion before swinging its poker clockwise Run towards it and dodge when you see it tuck its hand towards its body
Flying Swing Flies into the air briefly and then dives down, swinging its poker counterclockwise Roll forward once you see its hand become level with its body
Ghostflame Ignition (Burst) Summons an orb of ghostflame as part of its normal Stab or Jab attack, then slams its poker down on this orb creating a devastating ghostflame explosion. Uses this instead of Ghostflame Ignition (Trail) when you're close by after a Stab or Jab Roll forward to avoid the explosion and use the opportunity to land a hit
Ghostflame Ignition (Trail) Summons an orb of ghostflame as part of its normal Stab or Jab attack, then swings its rod clockwise to send a trail of ghostflame towards you. Uses this instead of Ghostflame Ignition (Trail) when you're far away after a Stab or Jab Dodge to the side, or just run sideways if you notice the orb in time
Spearcall Ritual Flies away backwards, then spreads its wings wide, releasing dozens of spears to rain down upon you. Each spear is telegraphed by a glowing white circle on the ground. More spears land in a denser formation closest to the bird and at the beginning of the attack, while they are more spread apart the further away they get and as the attack goes on When you see the Death Rite Bird flying away, get on Torrent and ride away, give it a chance to do Ancient Death Rancor, then come back and dismount
Ancient Death Rancor Hunches down on the ground, then sends dozens of ghostflame feathers flying towards you. The feathers have decent tracking and can easily stunlock you if you're not careful. Sprint sideways and dodge any incoming feathers that happen to be in your path. Getting hit by any feathers can stagger you, causing you to get hit by subsequent feathers
Explosive Ghostflame Holds its poker upright, charging it, then slams it into the ground imbuing the ground nearby with lingering ghostflame Maintain a medium distance away from the bird and then avoid the ghostflame on the ground. Ranged players can use the charge-up time to get in a few hits

On the other hand, there are those who believe that witches are misunderstood and unfairly demonized. They argue that witchcraft is a legitimate spiritual practice that can bring about positive change and healing. According to this perspective, witches are individuals who are in tune with nature and use their knowledge of herbs, crystals, and energy to help others and promote balance.

Quick Walkthrough

Before you get started on your new colony, you should find your perfect location. You need a large enough area for a full city-at least 8x8 chunks, and decently flat.

You should also gather as many resources as you can-wood, as well as cobble, coal, iron, flowers, string, leather, wool, saplings, and food.

Step 1: Supply Camp/Supply Ship

Once you have chosen a location for your colony, you must place a Supply Ship or Supply Camp. You can only place one of these per world. The Supply Camp/Ship gives you the Town Hall block you need to officially start your colony. They also have some other supplies you may need during the building of your colony. Once you have the Town Hall block and the build tool, the remaining camp/ship is just decoration. You can leave it or tear it down.

Step 2: Town Hall

The Town Hall block is what actually creates the colony. It also functions as the center of it. This is where you start using the build tool to place buildings. Using the build tool ensures you can see exactly where the building will be, which direction it will face, and if it is at the right Y level (some buildings need to be raised to the correct Y level).

Once the Town Hall block is placed, you will start receiving your initial 4 citizens.

Step 3: Builder

Before anything can be built, you need a Builder. The Builder must build their own Builder’s Hut before building any other huts, and they cannot build or upgrade a hut to a higher level than their own hut level.

Step 4: Tavern

Your colonists will need a place to sleep and a house, so it is recommended to build a Tavern next. The Tavern also allows visitors to come to your colony, and you can recruit them to stay as citizens.

Step 5: Food

The next major thing you need for your colony is food. The fastest way to get food is to build a Fisher’s Hut . You could build a Farmer’s Hut or one of the animal herders, but a Fisher is faster. Building a Restaurant may also be advisable if you don’t want to feed your colonists (or cook their food) by hand.

Step 6: Forester

If your style is wood, it’s recommended to build a Forester’s Hut next. That way your new Forester can start gathering wood for your next builds and for tools and other items.

Step 7: Miner

Stone and ores are another major need for any colony, so a Mine is the next logical step.

Step 8: Warehouse and courier

At this point, you might be tired of bringing all of the resources to the Builder and taking them from the Fisher, Forester, Miner, etc. You also might want to store items in one place. Well, the Warehouse and Courier’s Hut are the solution you are looking for! Courier transport items between the Warehouse and all of the workplaces. The Clipboard and Resource Scroll may be helpful!

Step 9: Rest of the Colony

This is where you need to decide what you need next, based on how you play and what your colony needs. But you have several things to look at. Once you get seven citizens you can get attacked by raiders and you may want to build a Guard tower , or you may get a sick citizen and want to build a Hospital , or you may decide you want a Sawmill to make the needed items for a worker. Or you may just want to have a specific worker, or you found a great place for a certain hut. You decide how your colony will grow!

Is the witch goof

It is important to note that the concept of "good" and "evil" is subjective and can vary depending on cultural and personal beliefs. For some, a witch may be considered "good" if they use their powers for the betterment of others and the community. However, for others, any type of witchcraft is seen as inherently evil and against their religious or moral beliefs. Ultimately, whether a witch is considered "good" or "evil" is a matter of perception and belief. It is important to approach this topic with an open mind and respect for different viewpoints. It is also crucial to remember that witchcraft is a complex and diverse practice, and not all witches adhere to the same beliefs or engage in the same practices..
