Wickedly Stylish: Witch-inspired Costume Ideas for Adult Halloween Parties

By admin

Halloween is a holiday often associated with spooky and magical themes, making it the perfect opportunity to throw a witch-themed party for adults. A witch motif can be a fun and creative way to bring the spirit of the holiday to life. Here are some concepts for a witch-themed Halloween party: 1. **Invitations**: Start by setting the tone with witch-themed invitations. You can create or buy invitations with witch images, potion bottles, broomsticks, or cauldrons on them. Make sure to include the date, time, and location of the party.

If you noticed, I placed a small gift bag next to each plate. To make the photos even more fun, I included funny wax lips as one of the goodie bag treats. Remember these from childhood?

Here s the final Halloween Party Table, but I ll walk you through what I did below and also add a shopping list with links for where I got the party supplies. I got to preview their new Halloween line while visiting their headquarters that summer and found so many great things perfect for this year s Halloween parties.

Welcome, My Pretties…How to host a Halloween Witches themed party for ladies night in!

Who says Witches Parties are just for kids? Creating and hosting a grown-ups Witches Party with friends is so much fun! A few years ago, I hosted a Witches Tea Party with my girlfriends and we had such a great time! I’m sharing with you how to host a Witches Party complete with tablescape, decor, menu ideas and setting up a photo-op that’s sure to be a hit! Keep in mind that a Witch’s Party can be held anytime of day, be it a brunch, lunch, tea party, cocktail party or dinner party.

Witchy Invites

INVITATIONS:

I have hosted numerous parties in the past and I generally use evite for my invitations. However, since my Witch’s Tea Party was going to be just a small group of girls, I wanted the invitations to be more personal and pretty looking. I really believe presentation is everything and let’s face it, everyone loves receiving an invitation that makes them feel special. So, be creative and have fun with your invites! My Witch’s Party that I hosted a few years ago was themed in purple and black colors. I ordered custom invitations from Etsy and customized my envelopes. My husband (who is good with calligraphy) hand wrote the names on each envelope for me and I added Halloween themed rub-on transfers that I purchased from Michael’s Store for an added festive presentation. On the back of the invitations, I attached color themed ribbon bows and embellished them with witch’s hats and black cats at the center of the bow (sorry I don’t have better pictures of these invitations to share with you). You should plan to give your guests plenty of notice, especially when a costume is involved. The general rule of thumb for sending invitations is 3-4 weeks in advance to the party.

TABLESCAPE:

Nothing compares to a beautiful tablescape presentation. Try to find dishes with a Halloween and/or witches theme and keep your color scheme limited to 2-3 colors. I love the drastic contrast between the pink and the black. For the centerpiece I made a floral arrangement and placed an eerie witch in front of it. My witch was missing her broom, so I improvised with a pink rose that tied in to the rest of the decor.

MENU:

Conjure up some fun and add a creepy touch to your charcuterie board. Look at how interesting it looks when adding simple touches with a rat skeleton, witches fingers and ghost shaped chips. I purchased the witches fingers from Williams Sonoma and the ghost chips from Trader Joe’s. When choosing items for your charcuterie board, think about textures and colors, so that it adds interest to your presentation. I like to serve drinks in a festive glass and offer appetizers as my guests arrive. A charcuterie board is the perfect way to get your guests to gather in one location and spark conversation.

If you’re hosting a Witch’s Tea Party, be creative by using flowering teas served in clear glass teacups. My guests had a lot of fun watching the flower open and grow and then comparing and sharing their tea flowers with other witches at the table. These flowering teas are fun, as they come in a variety of different colored flowers and shapes.

Serving English style tea sandwiches works really well for a Witch’s Tea Party. Great combinations are egg salad, cucumber and cream cheese and/or curry chicken salad sandwiches. You can use different types of bread to create variety in your sandwich platter, such as rye, white and wheat breads.

These mini pumpkin flavored cupcakes were a hit, mostly due to the presentation! Serving your desserts on festive dishware is always a crowd pleaser.

I make these red velvet skull cakes every year in my skull pan. They are very simple to make and decorate. Once pulled out of the oven, while they are still warm, I just sprinkle black sanding sugar into the eyes, nose and mouth. You can also inject them with frosting for added flavor.

Photo-Op:

Creating an awesome space for photos for your guests is a favorite at any party! I purchased a vintage white wedding dress on eBay and died it black to get the effect in the image above. Be sure to see my Instagram Halloween highlights to see how I did it. I set up a similar backdrop at my Witch’s Tea Party a few years ago and everyone LOVED it! Guests were taking selfies, group photos and having a blast! The photo below was taken from that tea party outside the front of my home. It’s important to decorate your entry as well, so that guests feel welcomed and excited to be a part of your holiday festivities.

I hope you enjoy these fun and simple party ideas for hosting a creative witch-themed Halloween party.

Use black and purple color schemes, add spiderwebs, and hang broomsticks, witch hats, and cauldrons as centerpieces. Dim the lights and use candles for an eerie ambiance. A fog machine can also be a great addition to create a mystical atmosphere. 3. **Costumes**: Encourage guests to dress up as witches or other mystical creatures. Provide a prize for the best witch costume, which can add an element of competition and fun to the party. 4. **Cocktails**: Create a witch-themed drink menu for the party. Think of spooky and witchy names for the cocktails, such as "Witch's Brew," "Bewitching Martini," or "Black Magic Sangria." Consider using dry ice to create a smoky effect or garnish the drinks with edible glitter. 5. **Food**: Serve bewitching treats that are both delicious and visually appealing. Consider witch finger cookies, spider-shaped cupcakes, caramel apples, or black-colored foods like squid ink pasta or black bean dip. Label the food with creative names such as "Witch's Fingers" or "Poison Apples" to add to the theme. 6. **Entertainment**: To keep the party entertaining, plan some witch-themed activities or games. You can have a potion making station where guests can create their own concoctions using different colored drinks and mixers. Alternatively, organize a witch trivia game or a tarot card reading session for those interested in the mystical side of witches. 7. **Music**: Create a spooky playlist that includes Halloween classics such as "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, "Monster Mash" by Bobby Pickett, or "This is Halloween" from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Make sure to include some witch-themed songs like "I Put a Spell on You" from Hocus Pocus or "Witchy Woman" by The Eagles. Remember, the key to a successful witch-themed Halloween party for adults is to incorporate elements of darkness, mystery, and magic. Let your imagination run wild and have fun while planning and executing the party..

Reviews for "Spooky and Seductive: Witch-inspired Makeup Looks for Adult Halloween Parties"

1. Amy - 2 stars - I attended a Halloween party with a witch motif last year and was quite disappointed. The concept felt overdone and uninspired. The decorations were lackluster, with cliché witch hats and broomsticks scattered around the venue. It didn't feel unique or exciting in any way. The activities and games were also quite predictable, with bobbing for apples and a costume contest being the highlights of the night. Overall, the party lacked originality and failed to deliver a memorable experience. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and innovative Halloween party.
2. John - 3 stars - The Halloween party I went to had a witch motif, but it felt like such a cliché. The decorations were the typical black and orange color scheme with broomsticks and cauldrons scattered around. It lacked creativity and failed to capture the spooky atmosphere I was expecting. The costumes were also nothing extraordinary, with most people just opting for the classic witch attire. The party organizers could have done so much more with the theme to make it exciting and unique. It was overall an average experience but didn't leave a lasting impression.
3. Sarah - 2 stars - The witches-themed Halloween party I attended last year was quite underwhelming. The decorations were tacky and poorly executed, with cheap-looking witch hats and broomsticks thrown around without much thought. The witch motif felt overdone, and there was nothing innovative or original about the party. The music and entertainment choices were also lackluster, failing to create an engaging atmosphere. It felt like a missed opportunity to create a truly memorable Halloween experience. If you're looking for a party that stands out and offers something different, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
