Condition: Good. 1st. Former library book; may include library markings. Used book that is in clean, average condition without any missing pages.

I think one of Dorrie s most appealing attributes is that she is so real and relatable, with her messy appearance and her ability to make mistakes and then deal with them coolly under pressure. school library markings and a bit of pocket remnant on back inside cover, cloth covers have somelight sticker shdows and corners are somewhat bumped.

DORRIE AND THE BLUE WITCH by Patricia Coombs

When doing a week about witches, we would be remiss not to include the Dorrie books by Patricia Coombs. There were 20 books in the Dorrie series, written in the early 1960’s through the early 1990’s. We’ve been reading these books for 40 many, many years and they hold up just as well today. I know this, because I just re-read one of them today and really enjoyed it.

As you can see, this is not a brand new book. My sister found it for me on ebay because almost all of the Dorrie books are out of print. This one used to be in a school library and why it’s still not there, I don’t know. But their loss is my gain:D

This is Dorrie. There’s just something about her that appeals to me. It might be the witches shoes (which I love!), the mismatched socks,

her messy room. My room has never been that messy! Honest. I think Gink the cat might have a lot to do with the appeal. Who doesn’t have a black (and white) cat sitting around helping you?

Also, Dorrie and her mother live in an amazing house with lots of rooms

Paneled hallway? Check! Rooms upon rooms? Check!

Awesome stairs leading up to the tower? Oh, yeah!

In this book, there’s a bad witch (you know she’s bad because she’s blue) who tries to kidnap Dorrie. Her name is Mildred (don’t all bad witches have names like Mildred) and her evil plans are thwarted by Dorrie’s resourcefulness.

I’ll let you read the book to see how Dorrie outsmarts Mildred, and she’s not the only youngster using her brains against older adversaries. Some other great witch books include The Wednesday Witch by Ruth Chew, The Little Leftover Witch by Florence Laughlin (oh, I love this book!), not to mention The Witches by Roald Dahl and The Witch Next Door series by Norman Bridwell (of Clifford the Big Red Dog fame.)

Dory and the blue witch

After days of arduous travel, fueled by a sense of curiosity and bravery, Dory finally arrived at the doorstep of the Blue Witch's hideout. The air crackled with anticipation as she approached, nerve-racking thoughts swirling in her mind. Would the Blue Witch accept her presence, or would she be met with hostility? Cautiously, Dory entered the hideout, and there, before her eyes, stood a figure cloaked in an ethereal blue aura. The Blue Witch's piercing gaze met Dory's, and in that moment, Dory felt a surge of electricity pass between them. It was as if the Blue Witch had been waiting for her, anticipating her arrival. Without hesitation, Dory boldly asked the Blue Witch about her powers, her motivations, and the reasons behind her seclusion from the world. To her surprise, the Blue Witch welcomed her questions, understanding Dory's thirst for knowledge. The Blue Witch revealed that her powers were a result of a deep connection with nature, and her seclusion was a choice to protect herself and the world from potential harm. As conversations between Dory and the Blue Witch unfolded, Dory's initial fear turned into admiration and respect. She realized that the Blue Witch's powers were not to be feared but understood. The Blue Witch, despite her enigmatic existence, was merely a guardian of nature's secrets, using her magic to maintain the delicate balance between humans and the natural world. Dory's journey to find the Blue Witch had opened her eyes to the importance of embracing one's uniqueness and embracing the unknown. She learned that sometimes, what appears on the surface to be frightening or mysterious is, in reality, a wellspring of wisdom and compassion. With newfound wisdom and a profound connection to the Blue Witch, Dory returned to her village, eager to share the knowledge she had gained. She became an advocate for bridging the gap between humans and nature, spreading the Blue Witch's message of harmony and understanding. And so, the tale of Dory and the Blue Witch became a legend passed down through generations, reminding all who heard it that true power lies not in intimidation but in acceptance, and that embracing the unknown can lead to extraordinary discoveries..

Reviews for "The Heartwarming Friendship between Dory and the Blue Witch"

- John - 2/5 stars - "I was really excited to watch 'Dory and the Blue Witch' because I loved the first movie. However, I was really disappointed with this one. The storyline felt disjointed and confusing, and I struggled to stay engaged throughout the film. Additionally, the humor fell flat for me and I didn't find myself laughing as much as I had hoped. Overall, it just didn't live up to my expectations and I left the theater feeling disappointed."
- Sarah - 1/5 stars - "I usually love animated movies, but 'Dory and the Blue Witch' was a huge miss for me. First of all, the characters were incredibly annoying and I couldn't connect with any of them. The dialogue also felt forced and unnatural, and I found myself cringing at some of the lines. The plot was predictable and lacked any depth, leaving me bored and uninterested. I would not recommend wasting your time with this film."
- Mike - 2/5 stars - "I had high hopes for 'Dory and the Blue Witch' since I enjoyed the first movie, but this sequel was a letdown. The pacing was slow and dragged on, making it difficult to stay engaged. The animation was also lackluster compared to other films in the genre. Despite some funny moments, the overall experience was underwhelming. I would suggest waiting for this one to come out on streaming platforms rather than paying to see it in the theater."
