The Salem witch trials, which took place in colonial Massachusetts in the late 17th century, were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft. The accusations against Dorcas Good began when several girls in Salem Village, including her cousin Betty Parris and her friend Abigail Williams, claimed to be afflicted by witchcraft.
