Even if you use the Holy Castigation feat so that your heal spell can damage fiends as if they were undead, the spell is still just a positive spell, not necessarily a good spell.

what's the point? may help new people decide what to play. Shows crusader is good. Shows psyker is still good after the optimal dispersion/castigation fixes.

molten beam - armor piercing rune, effectiveness, vulnerability. Castigation, cull the weak, the perk that give damage when at 0 heat. appropriate build for heat cooling + massive health regen.

Your beam pierce everything ez'pez like hot butter with 100% crit rate. You basically use only one skill, and sometimes an hemorrage for good figure.

So in other words you can't make a single ability have both the AoE and Single Target tags at the same time.

The beam dps so much each tick it kill something, it act like an AE.

And the poster above me added insult to injury saying he don't even need castigation, wich is the skill that add 100% crit rate. (well, i still use it for the heal on crit, warp cooling on crit etc personnally).

I'dd add that the psyker is maybe a bit too strong (it can be discussed, i think it's normal in an ARPG), it's mostly the other 2 that are lagging behind.

Try a level 50 crusader with thunderhammer, there's build guides out there. Alternatively, try a level 50 Assassin and see how fast you can clear missions. Let me know how they compare to Psyker.

Psyker clear faster, hands down.
Thunderhammer is good but still has its fault. Assassin has it better, it would be even more better if its weapon were more physical, for skill trees interaction.

You're free to have your opinion, just know that you're among the very very minority. since psyker is out (since the beta!) he have alway overshadowed the crus, and no patch note have ever buffed the crus since release.

So you're not going to show me how you manage to tag a single skill with both single target and aoe tags?

molten beam can't be tagged aoe, it stay a single target skill, one of the strongest right now (probably the strongest)
maybe with the right relic, the one giving single target skill a small aoe around the target is possible. but i'm not sure this is apply on the spell.

Molten beam =/= aoe, simply since Psyker are means to be extreme dps, it's possible to kill stuff fast, but honestly in the last event if i didn't use fire storm on patrol it was complicate to clean them with moltenbeam since, it can be blocked by an enemy and allows ranged to kill you.

enemy like bullgryn or big demon or assault chaos marine are a pain, that why generally as psyker you run with haemorrhage or firestorm are secondary damaging spell.

do the psyker is the best class? hmm i'm not sure. a good assassin can destroy assassinate mission in a couple of minutes.
i still haven't beat the waves mission against demon as psyker, mostly because i'm a glass cannon and enemy coming for me from all around the room is complicate to deal with.

in terms of survivability: crusader > assassin > psyker by far, even with all the buff we have you can raise your dodge, yes, but not as high than an assassin nor you can raise your damage resistance as high than crusader.
in terms of damage: psyker > assassin/crusader, we do have a lot of buff that allows us to increase our damage and our capacity to wreck destruction in the rank of the heretic. but that our role, our role is to bring destruction, where crusader are means to be the front liner and the assassin is means to be more versatile.

it don't make the psyker the best, only it have a different role.

@petercarr156 I didn't know deflector shield was the current meta, that's interesting thanks. I just got a relic void shield and was playing around with it. I prettty much never use my shield anymore after getting my resistances up. I liked the 100% suppression boost upon activation on void shield since that's usually where I have problems.

@beldhan ya castigation is still huge. 30% crit from 1 skill point, I haven't even modified my psyker's gear to get crit chance back i'm still running with almost no crit % from gear

I played a lot of diablo 3, and learned a rule there that 1% crit chance = 10% crit damage in value and you want to raise whichever is lower i.e. 30% crit chance u want 300% crit damage. if u have 60% crit chance and 100% crit damage u want to trade crit % for crit damage but we can't do that cuz crit str values are so low we can not get decent crit damage so crit chance isn't really a big deal except for triggering on crit procs. (if i'm wrong that 1 crit str = 1% crit damage boost please correct me)
So I went for damage in other places. Particularly I like the deflection perks on crusader becuase they boost tankyness and damage at same time. I was using the deflection build before I got the relic greatsword that adds deflect % to damage, but with that I double dip on the deflect to damage % which is awesome.
shout out to Irrelevant and SneakyErvin for putting me onto the greatsword

Also in diablo 3 you want to boost resistance or armor (damage reduction) whichever is higher and i went defense tree (on crusader) to boost those low resistances. I've been having fun working on getting resistances and damage resistance and deflect as high as possible while still dishing out the D

In closing the change they did where knock downs don't strip buffs anymore was a huge buff to psyker that out weighs the castigation/Optimal dispersion fixes/nerfs imo. I'm really happy with my crusader, but psyker is stronger as long as he can stay at range
I should be using a 10% damage for each debuff on the target staff instead of the 50% damage at range/-20% damage at short range staff I think
