The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. The trials resulted in the executions of twenty people, fourteen of them women, and all but one by hanging, making them the deadliest witch hunt in the history of colonial North America. The trials began in Salem Village (present-day Danvers, Massachusetts) in the Puritan colony of Massachusetts Bay, and quickly spread throughout the region. To date, historians have identified a total of 29 people who were formally accused of witchcraft, while over 200 were accused, arrested, and imprisoned throughout the course of the trials. The episode is one of Colonial America's most notorious cases of mass hysteria. Conversion LUTs are of course applied to raw footage and used to create neutral starting point for your creative color grade. Most camera brands offer LUTs for use in post-production, but the quality of their native LUTs isn’t always great.
With that in mind, I decided to create a a brand new set of color grading LUTs to replace (and improve upon) the LUTs being used with many of today’s popular cinema and video cameras.
When creating these LUTs, I used the native camera-brand LUTs as a baseline and then made additional adjustments to enhance color balance, contrast, saturation, and other key variables.
The end result are conversion LUTs that deliver natural and organic color palettes, creating the perfect starting point for further stylization.

This type of evidence was problematic, as it was based on subjective and often hysterical testimony and was easily manipulated or exaggerated. The trials were marked by a high level of hysteria and paranoia. People were encouraged to come forward and accuse others of witchcraft, leading to a climate of fear and suspicion. The accused were often socially marginalized individuals, such as older women or those who challenged the traditional gender roles of the time. They were subjected to harsh interrogations, torture, and often forced to confess to being witches. In the end, 20 people were executed for witchcraft, while others died in jail or experienced other forms of punishment. The trials came to an end in May 1693, when Governor William Phips banned the use of spectral evidence and disbanded the Court of Oyer and Terminer, the court responsible for the trials. The Salem witch trials have been the subject of much speculation and academic study. Many theories have been put forth to explain the hysteria and the accusations, ranging from religious fervor and social tensions to infectious disease outbreaks or mass poisoning. In popular culture, the Salem witch trials have been the inspiration for numerous works of literature, theater, and film. The events have come to symbolize the dangers of intolerance and the power of mass hysteria. The trials also serve as a reminder of the importance of due process and the dangers of relying on subjective and unsubstantiated evidence..
