Each season the villagers will gather together to celebrate. These days will be marked on your calendar inside your house with a star, and on the day of the festival you'll see "FESTIVAL" next to the current time. Festivals take place at Flower Bud Square and the entranceway is even decorated.

Some of the festivals require you to donate the supplies needed for the party. On the day before the celebration, toss whatever item is required into the shipping box in the Square. If you don't put in the effort then the festival won't take place!

If the festival is a simple gathering, the event will be over after you have finished talking with all of the villagers who are attending.

Spring 1 - New Years
You can't celebrate this event until your 2nd year, since you start your life in Flower Bud Village on the 2nd of Spring. Everyone gets together at the Square for some happy drinks to bring in the new year.

Spring 8 - Egg Festival
This festival is about the mighty egg, and what kind of food dishes can be created with it as an ingredient. It's unlikely you'll have any egg dishes to use as supplies on your first year, but Carl and Jamie will donate the needed ingredients. After that you'll have to do the work yourself.

Spring 17 - Spring Horse Race
You probably won't be able to participate in your first year, but it will be the chance you get to see Dan, Duke, Gwen, and Doug for the first time. There are 4 different races you can enter, but only if you own your own horse!

D. Hank Cup - 1st place is a month's worth of Fodder
C. Woody Cup - 1st place wins you a Coffee Table
B. Carpenter's W.S. Cup - 1st place is a Power Berry
A. Junk Cup - Grand price is a Cool TV

You'll need a well trained horse to win first place and you can only enter a horse in one of the races.

Spring 23 - Flower Festival
The day before on the 22nd, drop off a flower into the blue shipping box in Flower Bud Square. The next day the entire area will be filled with various colored blooms. If it's the first time you're participating then you will meet with Lyla. If you don't do this your first year then you'll have to wait an entire year until you can see her!

Spring 28 - Moo moo Festival
If you have a cow you can enter it into the judging festival. Talk to Theodore to select a cow from your farm. If you win you'll earn a musical note.

Summer 03 - Beach Festival
Head to Moonlight Beach between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. The beach is in the southwest corner of the world, near Tai's Blacksmith Shop. After you talk to everybody you can participate in the swimming mini game. You need to press the A button to swim and tag each one of the 4 colored buoys. Whoever tags all of them first is the winner, and you have to wait for everyone to reach the colored balls before the game is over.

If it's your first Beach Festival then you'll meet Nami, the weather girl. She will be at the Perch Inn during the summer season. Besides getting a Music Note for participating, the winner of the game will receive one of the rare Power Berries.

Summer 07 - Star Festival
The person with the highest affection will greet you in the morning and ask if you would like to sail a bamboo boat with him/her. If you agree, meet with the person in F.B. Square after 6:00 pm. The two of you will make a wish and sail it off down the river. The event ends at midnight.

Summer 15 - Firefly Festival
On the day before make sure you get a Moonstone from the Moonlight Mine and toss it into the Flower Bud Square drop box. To participate in the festival to honor your ancestors, just head to the Moonlight Beach between 6:00 am and midnight.

Summer 24 - Fireworks
You don't have to donate any supplies for this event. Just show up at Moonlight Beach before midnight and the villager who likes you the most will stand with you to watch the fireworks in the sky. If it's the first time your attending the festival then you'll meet Louis.

Summer 29 - Baabaa Sheep Festival
After 9:00 am, talk to Theodore in the Square. He'll allow you to select a sheep from your farm to enter into the contest. Your sheep can not be sick and it also has to have all of her wool intact.

Fall 08 - Moon Viewing
The marriage candidate with the highest affection will greet you at your front door in the morning and invite you to watch the moon with him or her. If you agree, meet in the Square. The two of you will head up to Starry Hill to watch the moon, and maybe even get a little kiss.

Fall 17 - Fall Horse Race
Just like with the Spring Race, you can enter up to 4 horses for a chance to win prizes.

Fall 24 - Harvest Festival
The day before, make sure you put a crop you've grown inside of the shipping bin in Flower Bud Square. The next day head to the Square and you'll see the Harvest Festival. Gourmet will be there to give you a new cooking recipe like Truffle Saute.

Fall 30 - Pumpkin Festival
Make sure you've shipped a Pumpkin to the Square shipbox the day before, then go to the Square on the 30th. If it's the first time you're attending then Theodore will reward you with a Power Berry for all of your hard work.

Winter 07 - Chicken Festival
Theodore will let you select a chicken from your farm to enter into the judging contest. Then talk to all of the villagers in attendance in order to start the judging.

Winter 12 - Thanksgiving
This isn't a holiday that happens in the Square, but rather a cake giving day for everyone who lives in the village. If you have raised a person up to 3 or more hearts, when you talk to that person he or she might share some cake with you. You can give the cake to another person or even ship it for about 800 G. On this day you can even give Jamie some cake if you want to see Jamie blush.

Winter 19 - Fire Festival
On the day before, you are required to place a Stake in the Square box. Don't worry about using one of your own. Just take a piece of fencing from the neighbors! The next day meet at the Moonlight Beach to guard a fire for those who have died at sea. The person who guards the flames with you will be the bachelor or bachelorette who has the highest affection towards you, regardless of your gender.

Winter 24 - Starry Night
The marriage candidate with the highest affection for you will greet you at your front door in the morning and ask if you would like to go view the stars that evening. If you do, meet him or her at the Square. The two of you will head up to Starry Hill to view the heavens. If you have at least 4 hearts with that person you might get a kiss.

Winter 30 - Year End
In the morning you'll be greeted by Carlos, Arthur, and Billy. They are going to send a secret invitation to someone, inviting that person to watch the new years sunrise with you. The Sprites give you a list of your top 3 marriage candidates and you pick the one you want.

When you're ready to participate, head to the Square to meet with your date. You will head off to Starry Hill to contemplate the new year.

Horse Racing Very Good Tips

I always win horse races i am rich because i sell my horses after the winning race their worth 50,000g. so anyway here our some steps to being a good racer. (This is for Nintendo Wii version but i'm sure Gamecube is similar!)

1.Brushe,Talk,Hand feed and let ur horse graze
2.Always have spare food in the feed tray thing if not check the weather every day.

3.Always take ur animals inside unless its summer and the next day will be sunny. NEVER lets ur horses out in the rain,Snow and it may even be risky leaving them out in cloudy weather.

4.Fence of ur barn and grazing area so ur animals won't wander away while grazing.

5.Training train ur horse to 10 stars to do this ride 12hrs does not have to be 12hrs straight.

6.Riding in rain
It is ok to ride horses in the rain but only if they r in a terrific mood if in normal mood they could get sick and if in angry mood they will definitely get sick.

7.Always have a few bottles of spare medicine a sick horse on race day could be very bad.

8. Pregnant
to make ur horse very happy buy miracle potion a season and a bit before the next race having a foal will make ur horse be in a terrific mood!

9.If doing tip 8 be very careful and work out the dates!

10. Dates
The horse race is on the 17th of both Fall and Spring.

11.Race Dates and Pregnetey
if u want to do step 8 use the miracle potion on no later date then the 15th of Winter or Summer. Any later could be a disaster!

12.Speed
Many people wonder how to change the speed to flying well i have the answer!U just press the + button on the wii remote to increase speed and to decrease speed plus this - button (the button u use to whistle).

13.Eat ur fruit and veg.
Scattered along the field is fruits and vegetables(roots as well) as u race eat them to help u keep energy!

14.Blocking
If u get a ok start and people r catching up block them by riding in front!

15.Grass
Stay away from grass it slows u down! if there is grass in a row go for the row not much grass.

16.Whips
It is good not to use them whip much it is useful to get a good head start,pass people in front and go through grass.

0-3 heart meet : Month's worth of fodder(for 1 animal)
4-5 heart meet : Coffee table
30 units of lumber (if you have the coffee table)
6-7 heart meet : Power berry
2000G purse (if you have the power berry)
8-10heart meet : Cool TV
Diamond Ring (if you have the Cool TV)

18.Want to be rich.
If ur horse wins the race there will be a crown at the end of the stars this means ur horse is a winning horse and is worth worth 50,000g this is why i based my farm on harvest moon around horse breeding and racing
i have a lot of money cause of this.

19.Based on tip #18
A good thing to do is make ur horse have a foal(aka baby horse)before a race(see tip #8) and then when ur horse wins sell it for the 50,000g and then when the foal is bigger train it to 10 stars and enter it in a race!

20.More then 1 horse!
If u raise only horses u can just have lv1 barn if u have other animals u will need a lv2 barn maybe u could do tip #18! so as u know there r 4races but u can only enter 1 or can u? Buy or breed so u have up to 4 horses and then get them all different heart level if u get to much simply sprinkler water on her to lower her affection 1 heart be careful not to hit ur animal with a tool like axe or even just scare them with it this can make it sick.

21.Unable to race
If ur horse is sick or pregnant it can't enter the race.

How can you win the horse race in Magical Melody?

I have my horse at four hearts, and I was ready for the fall horse race. The thing is I forget to train my horse, which I totally lost at the rank C race. My questions are:

1. How many days do you have to train the horse in order to gain 1 star? Approximately how many hours each day?

2. Since right now she has 4 hearts, and I can't enter rank D anymore, but when it comes to next year spring race, she will at least gain another 3 to 4 hearts. How can I get the coffee table at rank C or maybe even powerberry at rank B, if my horse will have more than 7 hearts for me later on? Can I water my horse or milk my horse so she will lower her heart level and then I will raise her heart level again? If she gets lower at her heart, does that mean her stamina will also decrease?

3. Over all, my last question is, how to win the horse race, any strategy?

1. To gain one star you have to train you horse for 11-12 hours. But it's also okay if you train your horse 6 hours for the day and 6 hours the next day.

2.Heh, that happened to me too. What I do is I just enter my horse on it's right category and race, and then buy another horse and train it to enter the other categories.

You can experiment by lowering it's heart level, and if it doesn't work just reload your game.

3.I've only won the horse race 2 times. It's hard to explain how I won.

I don't know how to answer 1, but anyway

2 (latter part) Watering your horse (literally watering it, as in going up to it and pressing x) will cause it to lose hearts very quickly. I did it unknowing that it would lower heart levels, and I never really intended to, then went to the horse race the next day to discovery that my 8 hearted horse was down to 2 hearts.

3. Save and reload. Pick up most the items that you can get by moving up and down.

since your horse became 2 hearts, does her stamina also decrease?

i am going to do an experiment, to see if i lower my horse's heart level can i still raise her heart level again and then by next spring festival if she can race in rank c or not. i want that coffee table..

and to see if her stamina will decrease if i lower her heart level. in that case, i dont have to buy another horse.. it's too much trouble if you have to give each of them times to ride them. i did gain a star now.

i decide to milk my horse, so she wont lose too many hearts..

No, her stanima didn't decrease.
(I saved and reloaded almost ten times to win the race though.)

So far its taken me almost 3 months to gain 2 hearts.

I don't think its too much trouble to ride them each. I just ride my horse everywhere, and I unwisely live up in the mountains, so I ride my horse up and down that everyday.

I'm guessing milking your horse will lose as many hearts as watering.
I think they lose 1-2 hearts per water/milking

I buy my horses during Winter since I don't do much during that season. I train/ride my horse everyday for at least 12 hours. So that's like approximately 6am-9 pm-ish. (My horse usually leaves when I enter a building. so I have to go ALL the way back to the farm…to get it.)

actually, the horse wont lose any heart if you trying to milk them. they will have an !? marks on their face, i try to milk them like 3 days in a row and 4 times a day, the horse actually didnt lose any heart.. strange,

and it takes so little time for my horse to like me.. currently i have 5 hearts with her already and i am only on fall 28 right after the festival. so in other word, my horse gain an extra 1 heart in less than 10 days because i got my horse to five hearts at fall 25. in that case, she loves me so much then.. what i do is feed her by hand, brush and talk to her.. i also ride her often now, she has 3 stars right now.. what i am going to do another test is try to water her, so she can lose all the hearts, then raise her again, so she can win the coffee table for me.. oh, stars actually gain pretty fast.. i have been riding her almost every sunny day and approximately 6-7 hours a day.

by the way, the cool tv you got in the horse race is that exactly the same as the one you got from the junk shop?

That be exactly what I do, except she's pregent at the moment, so I can't ride her. *shakes fist at horse*

Is the cool tv labeled as "Cool Tv" or "Good Tv"? Becuase "Good tv" is the one in the Junk shop. Its a big screen tv (good)
