Exploring the Dark Side of Yugioh Occult Ruler

By admin

The "Yugioh occult ruler" is a term that refers to a deck archetype in the popular trading card game, Yugioh. This archetype revolves around the use of spellcaster-type monsters known as "rulers" and focuses on a combination of occult-themed cards and strategies. The occult ruler archetype often includes monsters such as "Dark Magician" and "Dark Magician Girl," which are iconic spellcaster-type monsters in the Yugioh franchise. These monsters, along with other support cards, are used to summon the powerful "Dark Magician of Chaos" and "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End." The main idea here is that the occult ruler archetype combines elements of spellcasting and occultism with powerful monsters and strategies. This allows players to create unique and strategic decks that can be highly effective in gameplay.

Curse of the Masked Creature

If this card is sent to the GY You can banish this card and 2 other Fiend monsters from your GY; Special Summon 1 Level 8 Fiend monster that cannot be Normal Summoned Set from your hand or Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions. Some consider Classic retail boxes to be rarer because they were sent to major retailers, with the underlying assumption being that more were opened.

By utilizing the occult ruler archetype, players can wield the power of darkness and chaos to overcome their opponents and achieve victory. Overall, the "Yugioh occult ruler" is an exciting and popular deck archetype for players who enjoy the combination of occult-themed cards and strategies with powerful monsters.

[Custom Cards] DM Fiend Support/Retrains | "Jaden's Alright, but Marik Used Masked Monster Before it was Cool" (8 Cards)

Fiends are one of the things I first think of when I remember the original series. While 5D's and the rest have moved Yu-Gi-Oh! towards a more futuristic setting, much of the old series was based in the occult, and the grotesque and horrifying art of these Fiends were one of the greatest assets of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga. It's kind of a shame to me that Yu-Gi-Oh! has moved so far from the occult, but things change for a reason, and I like how Yu-Gi-Oh! has adapted over time for the most part. Still, I thought it'd be fun to make some support for these old fiendish friends.

The thing in mind with this old support was the Fiends of the original series, and while Archfiends got a new Link Monster and Trap, some of the more iconic ones from the manga were more one-off things, and something they all seemed to have in common was they were Level 8 Fiend monsters. Cards like , , , , , and . Hell, if we look even futher at filler and GX we had , , and . So I decided it'd be fun to retrain some of them and make them better.

First off we have Mask Summoner, he's meant to be a psuedo-Prisma and Delta the Magnet Warrior combo. By milling a fiend, he summons a Token with the same name as the milled fiend, so you can use this with Grand Tiki Elder or Melchid the Four-Face Beast to get an easy Des Gardias from hand, for pitching an Archfiend, to get a free token on field for summoning an Archfiend from hand, or pitching Ritual Raven to use with the Ritual Spell. The second effect requires you to banish 3 Fiends from the GY, and if you do, you can summon a Level 8 Fiend that cannot be Normal Summones/Set from your hand or Deck, ignoring its summoning conditions.

Second we have a Necrofear retrain, Necrofear of Dark Sanctuary. The original Necrofear was alright, but I just wanted something to do more with the new Dark Sactuary card. Same summoning condition, but this time its effect allows you to Tribute a Fiend you control to take control of a monster your opponent controls. Also, it it's sent to the GY, it'll activate Destiny Board and Dark Sactuary directly from your Deck, and offer protection to both. The win conditions still rather slow, but I thought it'd be a fun addition.

Third we have a Lava Golem retrain, Volcano Golem. One of Marik's ace card, this card was also decent, especially as a tech option in past formats before Kaijus were a thing. I decided it'd be fun to take some influence from Ra Sphere mode and give it some synergy with Perpetual King Archfiend. You can summon it to either field by Tributing 2 monster from that field, during the Standby Phase, as a cost, you pay 1500 LP, allowing you to mill Mask Summoner if you have Perpetual King Archfiend on the field. Also, while it's in the owner's control, you can use your own fuel as LP to stoke the Volcano and cause an explosion of damage to your opponent equal to the LP paid, edging you closer to that OTK, and milling a Fiend of your choice with Perpetual King Archfiend on field.

Fourth is the Dark Master Zorc retrain, Master of Darkness - Zorc. This just updates it's dice roll effect to be a bit better and more fitting of a Fiend who rules that Darkness. You could combine it with That Six to always ensure you never get a 6, but even if you don't and still get a 6, you can just banish its Ritual Spell counterpart (which lets you summon any Level 8 Fiend Ritual like Demise, King of Armageddon, but still allows Pre-Prep searching with this modification) to prevent its destruction.

Next is The Masked Beast retrain, The Masked Creature (I'm really not good with names if you can tell). Anyway, there was noting notable about it in the anime, other that the fact that after it was destroyed the Umbra bothers almost immediately summoned Masked Beast Des Gardias, so I decided to incorporate that element into it. First off, just slapped on targeting protection, cause why not, then it lets you shuffle a Mask of Remnants from hand or GY into the Deck to draw 2 cards, so you don't have to worry about that thing bricking you, and can recycle it, so you only need to run it at 1 with Des Gardias (if you want to abuse the draw power offered by this card though, just use Foolish Burial of Goods instead of running multiples of the mask). Since you'll likely be running Melchid and Grand Tiki Elder, the Ritual Spell counterpart also pitches Normal Fiends directly from the Deck, and has an added bonus of protecting your Mask of Remnants or the monster equipped with Mask of Remnants from a targeted effect by banishing the Ritual Spell.

Finally, two new Mask cards. Mask of the Condemned has a 1000 LP activation cost so you can pitch if Perpetual King Archfiend is on the field, and works as a Fiendish Chain that also prevents the targeted monster from being used as Material for a Summon. Meanwhile, Mask of the Doomed has a 500 LP cost so you can pitch Masked Summoner if Oerpetual King Archfiend is on the field, and it negates the effects of any face-up Spell/Trap, with the added bonus of preventing your opponent from playing a new Field Spell if you negate a Field Spell. Finally, both have the effect of inflicting 500 damage to your opponent during each Standby Phase for as long as they remain on the field.

As always, If you see any issues in my PSCT or the balancing of my effects, please be sure to tell me and suggest fixes. Without further ado, here are my cards:
