Behind the Waves: The Technical Aspect of Magic Radio's Frequency

By admin

Magic Radio is a popular radio station in the United Kingdom that plays a variety of music genres. It is known for its focus on feel-good songs from the past and present, catering to a wide audience. However, it is important to note that the frequency of the Magic Radio station can vary depending on the location. In general, Magic Radio can be found on FM frequencies ranging from 105.4 to 105.9 MHz.

Why is Magic 828 on AM and not on FM?

ICASA (The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) regulates and issues broadcasters with radio licenses in South Africa.

The FM spectrum in our country is congested due to the number of radio stations broadcasting on FM. ICASA has defined that The FM band has strict frequency spacing between FM stations, to avoid audio interference between radio stations broadcasting on adjacent frequencies, thus limiting the FM space further.

FM signals are broadcast and received “in line of sight” between the transmitter and the radio receiving the signal. Therefore, due to the topography of the landscape, specifically in the Western Cape, additional FM transmitters and frequencies are required for the FM stations to cover their respective broadcast area.

As the FM Band in The Western Cape is saturated with no additional frequencies available, Magic 828 broadcasts on AM.

AM offers many advantages over FM. Only one transmitter is required to broadcast over a large reception area and the AM signal is not restricted to “line of sight” transmission – in other words, the signal literally bounces over mountains and hills, over a greater distance.

Ronan and Harriet said, "Christmas songs bring so much cheer and we have been asked by so many of our listeners to switch the station. We listened and agree that the nation NEEDS Magic Radio 100% Christmas more than ever before. So, switch us on and settle in. It’s Christmas songs all day every day from now on in."

To kick off the festivities, Ronan and Harriet welcomed the Queen of Christmas herself, Dolly Parton, to launch the first Christmas song on the station: 'Step into Christmas' by Elton John, and said, "I love everything about Christmas. I love the wrapping, I love trimming the trees. I love the family, the fun, the food, the music. Everything about it I love."

9 MHz. Additionally, listeners can also tune in to Magic Radio through DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) and online streaming platforms. These platforms provide easy access to the station regardless of geographic location, allowing listeners to enjoy their favorite music anytime and anywhere.

Reviews for "Unlocking the Magic: Understanding the Frequencies of Magic Radio's Programming"

I was really disappointed with "What frequency is magic radio". I was expecting a magical and enchanting experience but all I got was a jumble of random songs. The frequency kept changing and it was hard to keep up with what was playing. The DJ's were unenthusiastic and there was no coherence in the playlist. I would not recommend this radio station to anyone looking for a magical music experience.

"What frequency is magic radio" was a letdown for me. The name itself suggests something extraordinary, but what I found was just an ordinary radio station with average music choices. It lacked the energy and charm that I was hoping for. The frequent advertisements and interruptions further dampened my listening experience. I would advise looking for better radio stations that truly capture the essence of magic.

I tuned in to "What frequency is magic radio" with high hopes, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. The music selection was quite limited and repetitive. I was expecting a variety of magical and fantasy-themed tracks, but it felt like any other mainstream radio station. The lack of creativity and unique content left me disappointed. I would suggest exploring other platforms or playlists that truly capture the magic of music.
