Do I still need to use chlorine/bromine in my pool/hot tub?Yes, primary disinfectant is still required but you will be able to reduce the amount of chlorine or bromine by 90% and your pool/spa will need half as many treatments as using disinfectant alone.
How often do I use Ocion Blue?Every pool and hot tub is different based on its usage and size. We’ve found through our own testing and conversations with our customers that when you use Ocion Blue you can expect to reduce disinfectants by 90% and treat your pool half as much through the year. We make it easy to know how much Ocion Blue to use and how often with our copper test strips and mobile app (download with the links below!)
Do I need to drain my hot tub before using Ocion Blue?No, you don't need to drain your hot tub. We do recommend making sure your chlorine has either run out completely or to at least 0.5ppm.
How do I test copper levels in my pool/hot tub?You will need either a 2-Part Copper Test Kit or a bottle of our Copper Test Strips, as well as our mobile app. Once you test your water with the test kit or strip, you will enter that measure into the mobile app, and it will tell you how much product you need to add.
If you are unable to download or use the mobile app, please email us and we'll send you specific instructions according to your pool or hot tub volume.
When will I receive my product? Orders will be shipped the day after ordering. Standard delivery is 4 - 7 business days. What happens if I add too much Ocion Blue?To prevent an overdose, do not add Ocion Blue except during normal maintenance cycles. Double check your water volume calculation to make sure you are adding the proper amount of Ocion Blue. Monitor the copper level before and after treatment using a copper kit. Never use copper or copper/silver ionizers in combination of Ocion Blue in the pool.
Can Ocion Blue be used with any pool surface?Yes! Ocion Blue is safe on all pool surface. Make sure the newly constructed or resurfaced plaster pool surface is fully cured before you use it.
Can I use Ocion Blue in my saltwater pool?Ocion Blue is compatible and stable in the presence of:
- ozonators
- UV light systems
- D.E., sand, and cartridge filters
- saltwater systems & chlorine generators
**Ocion Blue is compatible with most chemicals such as chlorine, bromine, oxychloride, ozone, and salts chlorine generators when added to the pool, spa or hot tub. However, mixing any chemicals together with Ocion Blue prior to application is not recommended. Never pour chemicals together in the same container. Never add water to chemicals, instead add chemical to water. Never add chemicals to your pool close to the surface at the same spot time after time. Apply at multiple spots and avoid repetition of spotting. When you apply concentrated chemicals, never allow them to contact skin or pool surfaces directly.
How long does it last?The best part about Ocion Blue is that it only gets used up if bacteria is introduced into the water. If you're not using the pool or hot tub, you don't need to add any product. Ocion Blue will just stay in the water, waiting for bacteria to be introduced.
