Great Book of Shadows to get beginners started off on the right foot.

A nice overview! I tried to learn without a guide, and it was an information overload, and I didn't know where to go next! This guide would have been extremely helpful for me as a beginner! Great informational tone. Often witches forget that there is more than one way to achieve an outcome, and the beginning makes it clear that this is a personal choice journey, and I loved how the many different paths are presented and represented. Fantastic job!

My Witchy Bookshelf- Beginning Wicca & Witchcraft Books

Welcome to the newest Inked Grimoire series- My Witchy Bookshelf. These segments feature books found on my personal witchy bookshelf (Morgan- owner of Inked Goddess Creations), that personally resonate with me, that I can honestly recommend to those interested in the subjects. The video series will be split up into subjects, with this first post about Beginning Wicca & Witchcraft Books.

I recently told the story of how I found my spiritual path in the post, Finding Myself in the Darkness. I was a teenager in a small, rural Virginia town in the 90s, and turned to a bookstore to gain the answers I needed.

I started out with Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham. It's a great transition book, if you are looking into wicca for the first time. It gives the basics of wicca and witchcraft, and teaches you how to practice your faith without a coven or group.

From there, I read To Ride a Silver Broomstick by Silver RavenWolf. This is the first book in a series that includes To Stir a Magick Cauldron and To Light a Sacred Flame. Silver RavenWolf is personally one of my favorite authors, and I love the thoroughness and voice of her books. These books, from start to finish, cover the basics of witchcraft and how to practice the magick deep inside of you.

Teen Witch by Silver RavenWolf is also another book I recommend for those starting out. I purchased a copy of this book for my daughter, but ended up reading it myself. Great overview of witchcraft with some cute beginner spells added in.

The last book in this series that I recommend is Grimoire for the Green Witch by Ann Moura. This book is overflowing with amazing information, spells, rituals and more. I use this book constantly for quick references, and highly recommend it as an addition to anyone's witchy bookshelf.

These are the books I personally recommend for those starting out or wanting more information on wicca or witchcraft. I do mention in the video (which is the full informational segment for this series) that I haven't purchased a beginning book in about 10 or 15 years, so this list is nowhere near an 'ultimate' list or anything. These are just books I personally recommend, that have helped me on my path over the last 20 years!

This was actually my second time through all three of these. Having just picked up "The Prince Lestat", I realized it has been a very loooong time since I read much of Rice's stuff and I'd forgotten a number of salient points. So I began backtracking. That led me to Vampire Chronicles #7: Merrick. Merrick was a Mayfair. Not from the main branch of the family, but as we learned with Mayfairs, that is seldom reason to assume ANY Mayfair lacks "gifts".

I quickly realized how interconnected all of her Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair Witches stories are! So back I went to reread all of the Mayfair Witches series.

I'm glad I did. I picked up on much that I'd missed the first time around with both The Witching Hour and Lasher. I'm about halfway through Lasher now. If you haven't read these in the past decade or more, and you liked them the first time around, you might wish to revisit them. As with all gifted authors and great stories, what you take away from a story changes perspective at different points in your life. I'm now in my mid-fifties and I find myself empathizing more, and paying more attention, to the older characters. As a result, I'm taking away an entirely different perspective.

This is every bit as much a grand Southern Gothic novel as much as a Gothic Horror novel. I missed that the first time around when I was in my early 30s. I find myself seeing the broader canvas upon which the actions of the players are painted, not simply zooming ahead with the actions of the key participants.

It's not a set of novels I would have expected to stand the test of time, but they hold up remarkably well. I find myself pleasantly surprised and thrilled to be wrong.

I was really looking forward to reading "The Excalibur Spell" as I am a huge fan of fantasy novels. However, I found myself quite disappointed. The plot was incredibly predictable, and the characters lacked depth and development. The writing style felt forced and contrived, making it difficult for me to immerse myself in the story. Overall, the book failed to capture my interest and I would not recommend it.

"The Excalibur Spell" was one of the most poorly written books I have ever encountered. The grammar and spelling mistakes were abundant, which made it difficult to understand what was happening. Additionally, the dialogue between characters was incredibly cliché and unrealistic. The plot was all over the place, jumping from one event to another without any coherence. I regret wasting my time on this book and would not recommend it to anyone.
