The Crest Witch's Spellbook: Unraveling the Secrets of Ancient Incantations

By admin

The Crest Witch is a term used in various forms of media, including books, movies, and video games. It refers to a powerful witch who possesses a crest, a symbol of her magical abilities and status. The crest can take different forms, such as a mark on the witch's body or an item that is imbued with magical properties. The origins and nature of the crest differ depending on the story, but it is often depicted as a source of great power and a key element in the witch's abilities. In many stories, the crest is passed down through generations, inherited by the chosen few who possess the bloodline of the crest witches. The witches with crests are often seen as both feared and revered figures within their communities, with their powers making them capable of great feats of magic.

An example of this was the entire backstory to the crown prince princess, their arranged loveless marriage, and her mentor being aware of everything and going along with it. And then she will fall for all his other good points like attentiveness, being lovey-dovey, a sweet-talker, has the looks and the abs but not the character.

This is a great story to read in between other stories you really like because the art is beautiful enough to look at, but the story is mediocre so don’t get too invested in it or the ending.

The story itself seems like it couldn’t really decide where I wanted to go. That’s why it seem like for me anyway, they were many loose ends.

They touched on many things, and then completely let them go as if they have never happened. An example of this was the entire backstory to the crown prince & princess, their arranged loveless marriage, and her mentor being aware of everything (and going along with it).

The ending, for the story seemed rather rushed almost as if they just didn’t know what to do with the story anymore. Although in the long run, I am happy that the FL ended up with an ML (he was a much better choice than the prince that didn’t even bother telling her how he felt or even contemplate fighting for their love).

The storyline is a bit ridiculous and silly but it's lighthearted and interesting enough to keep me reading. A strong FL is also a big bonus in anything I read. ML's obsession with FL is cute, borderline a bit unhealthy but I'm not nitpicking. 🙂

this is the kind of manhwa where they might not have been able to keep working on it without Clip Studio and i am constantly torn between being grateful it got made at all and frustrated it wasn't hastily sketched out like xkcd or something because the art is nowhere near as compelling as the mostly silly story. consent gets featured a lot, the ML is pretty yummy (if you're into manipulative blushing subs) and the magic is kind of fun.

I generally wait for at least 20 something chapters before dropping a manga. It paid off this time.

Premise of the story: Plainly absurd. Though I give the author some points for using world building (magical oath) to try and justify the absurdity.

Level of Maturity: This is clearly josei. The FL isn't dense. She identifies her desires without much issue. Meaning this story won't waste 90 chapters having ML/FL ignore obvious romantic cues to drag the story on. Instead this is more about establishing trust and love beyond superficial attraction based on beauty/handsomeness. VERY few stories deal with this. So I really do have to score it high.

World: Beyond the romance this is part of the reason why I continue reading this story. The author seems to really care about expanding the world, and it is shaping up to be quite interesting. I would recommend it [based on the 29 chapters so far]

I have read both the Line Webtoon and Sugar Babies version of this and they really do not compare. You can tell the most at the end of chapter 9 when they are talking about the magic potion which is supposed to be an energy drink. Kind of disappointed in the google translate or elementary school level translation from Sugar Babies. I am hoping I do not have to drop this manga purely based on another terrible translation of a story. It really does make a difference when telling a story.

- good art (I'm pretty sure a lot of people will fangirl over the male lead's looks and abs lol)
- interesting magic system

This story used one of the silliest plot devices that makes me roll my eyes (and we have to read this in the first chapter as an introduction):

Who actually promises they will “do anything” to make up for a guy kissing her back and sleeping with her?? (this is not a spoiler as it was the intro to the story LOL). And of course the guy takes advantage of this and asks for something she is not fine with. It just makes the story feel forced, with the writer lacking talent in subtlety to get the desired consequences to advance the plot.

The execution of that whole scene made it even more annoying. It went something like this:
“I will do anything for you to make it up to you” she said. And he was like “Really? Anything??” just to make sure she meant it. And she was like “oh yeah!!” - without thinking at all of the consequences like what if he asks for something crazy such as murder, torture, thievery, etc.

To make it worse, in this magical world, mages lose their magic if they don't keep their promises.

If promises are such a big deal how can she just make one so carelessly? How is she considered a genius? How did she survive as a witch for 28 years as a division leader without losing her magic before this point??

I also don’t like how people are just swept up by the handsome face and fan service and become blind to (or just willfully ignore) the problematic underlying issues. Manipulation from the guy (he fake cries to guilt trip the girl into complying with his wishes, I kid you not), and lack of consent (the girl abused her rank and power when she came onto him, and he let her, but it's still problematic) result in toxic relationships in real life.

The ?somewhat good? thing is that the guy seems to be really into the girl even though they're strangers (you can guess the demographics of this story without looking at the tags just from this LOL).

Maybe the guy gets better. Maybe he has this deep backstory for liking the girl so much. And maybe she knew him as her childhood best friend or whatever but had some form of manga-amnesia so forgot about him. And then she will fall for all his other good points like attentiveness, being lovey-dovey, a sweet-talker, has the looks and the abs but not the character. Who knows. I'm out.

TL;DR - if you're okay with not reading things too seriously and enjoy pretty art, then this is for you.

Foolish female lead, manipulative male lead.
The girl's character profile is the (supposedly) strong and smart type, and the guy is the handsome but cunning type.

This story is actually pretty messed up in so many different levels but the art is good. Drawing the guy crying with sparkles as special effects was overkill.

1 point for the art
1 point for the magic system
1 point for the old archwizard who looks the same decades later: old

rating thus far: 3/10

The crest witch

It may contain symbols or patterns that represent the witch's magical abilities, such as elements of nature, celestial bodies, or mythical creatures. The crest may also come with a set of rules or rituals that the witch must follow in order to maintain and control her powers. The role of the crest witch can vary greatly depending on the storytelling medium. In some stories, the crest witch may be the protagonist, using her powers to fight against evil and protect the innocent. In others, she may be an antagonist, using her powers to further her own agenda and bring chaos to the world. The crest witch can also serve as a mentor or guide to other characters, helping them unlock their own magical abilities. Overall, the concept of the crest witch is a fascinating and versatile one, offering endless possibilities for storytelling and character development. With their unique powers and mystical crests, these witches have captured the imagination of audiences around the world and continue to be a popular theme in various forms of media..

Reviews for "The Crest Witch and Herbal Medicine: Unveiling the Secrets of Healing Magic"

1. John - 1/5 - I was extremely disappointed with "The Crest Witch." The plot was disjointed and confusing, and the characters lacked depth and development. The writing style was stilted and awkward, making it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. Additionally, the pacing was incredibly slow, and I found myself losing interest and struggling to stay engaged. Overall, I would not recommend this book to others.
2. Sarah - 2/5 - I had high hopes for "The Crest Witch" but ultimately felt let down. The premise had so much potential, but the execution fell flat. The plot dragged on with unnecessary subplots that didn't contribute much to the main story. The main character lacked complexity and often made frustrating decisions that didn't make sense. While there were a few moments of intrigue, they were overshadowed by the overall lackluster execution. I wouldn't actively discourage others from reading it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it either.
3. Emma - 2/5 - I found "The Crest Witch" to be a mediocre read. The world-building was underdeveloped, leaving the setting feeling shallow and unengaging. The dialogue felt forced and unrealistic, making it difficult to connect with the characters. Additionally, the pacing was inconsistent, with long stretches of boredom followed by sudden bursts of action that felt disjointed. Overall, I found the book to be a lackluster fantasy read that failed to captivate me or leave a lasting impression.
