Brand Protection

When we are truly inspired and believe in an idea, we dedicate not only a tremendous amount of time and money, but our heart and soul. It is truly a shame that despite all of the hard work, some individuals think they can take the product, create a cheap imitation and sell an inferior product for an easy buck.

1. When knock off items are purchased, the consumer is cheating themselves out of superior quality. Such products are not made to last, nor are they meant to perform well. They are made to deceive honest customers in order to make a quick profit.

2. If companies are blatantly bootlegging items and committing mass infringement (both of which are serious felonies), they should not be trusted, especially with your personal or credit card information.

3. When you purchase knock off items, you are indirectly supporting the inhumane conditions in which they are produced. Knock off items are manufactured in terrible environments in order to save money on labor costs, and purchasing the items encourages companies to continue the mistreatment of their employees.

4. We have received numerous reports of knock off products (specifically the Tarantula and Spider Pen Pro) breaking in the middle of performances, leaving innocent magicians confused and embarrassed.

We at Yigal Mesika Magic, take great pride in the quality of our work and are actively working towards shutting down any production of knock off items. It not only damages our branding, it hurts the performance of all magicians who use the items. If you have any information regarding cheap knock off items, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you see an item and the price seems too good to be true, feel free to contact us to verify its authenticity.

Understand that we stand behind all of our products and when you buy our authentic products you are guaranteed 100% customer service and support.

If for any reason you don’t absolutely love your purchase of any of our items in the first 3 months you have it, we’ll give you a full refund with no questions asked.

Tarantula 2 – Yigal Mesika

Product description : The world of thread has been revolutionised by the Venom Project by Magie Factory, a French Company, which is quite honestly the best mechanical ITR on the market ! However, Yigal Mesika has released its new Tarantula device, the release date was delayed a few times but I have been testing it for a few months. Basically, it’s an electronical ITR, similar in the way it’s made to the first version but with differences too. Is it worth taking a look at ? Let’s find out !

Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $75 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's magic « partner » shop !

What you get : You get a small cardboard box, quite difficult to open, but nicely made, with flashy gold printing on it. Inside, you’ll find the wire in order to charge your Tarantula device, which is a big novelty, as well as the device in itself. On the bottom of the box, you have a link to watch the explanation video. The video is well made, as you can expect from Yigal Mesika, but there is nothing new or revolutionary compared to the first version. The device is really well made, should last a long time, and have some new features. First, it’s a USB battery while the first version was powered by a simple battery. Second, you have the Soul Technology built in the Tarantula II which means the thread is always in tension, and that there is no ON/OFF switch ! Overall, I’m really happy with what I’ve received, I don’t have the first version but heard some bad reviews, and I’m really surprised with this second version, it’s reliable and well made.

The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end.

THE CONS :
• The thread is always in tension, because of the Soul Technology, this will be both a con and a pro. Because of that tension, you can’t do the haunted deck you could do with the first version.
• It’s a rechargeable battery which means it will run out at some point, it’s not a mechanical ITR. I figured out that you would be good for 80 to 100 “performances” before the battery runs out.

THE PROS :
• The Sould Technology is a great thing since you don’t have any ON/OFF switch, which means you can always have it ready in your pocket and just by pulling the thread, the motor will activate.
• The rechargeable battery is a nice addition since you don’t have to switch the battery when they run out, just plug it in a regular micro USB cable, which you should have if you don’t own an Iphone. The charging time is fairly quick, I would say 2h.
• This device is the same in its construction as the first one, so you have to hide it in your hand. But it is very sturdy, I dropped it a few times and there is no marks or anything, it works like it should, like in the first day.
• You can really pull out a good length of thread, without worrying too much about tension, because it’s an electronical ITR. This is not possible with the mechanical ITR out there.
• If there is no tension on the thread for more than 30 seconds, the motor turns itself off which is a great thing.
• There is a small button on top of the Tarantula, you can press it so you stop the tension, this is a great addition because you can attach a bill to the thread, lay it on the table, press the button so the bill will stay. When you want, you can stop pressing on it so the bill will fly back to your hand.
• There is also a hands free version, you put the device in your pocket and thanks to the Soul Technology, you will be able to levitate objects.

Overall rating : This is a good electronical ITR, it works as advertised and works well. It’s sturdy and should last a long time if you look after it, but I will stick to my Venom, 3.5/4 hearts.

As for the difficulty level, this is IT work, it will need work, patience and dedication but it’s well worth it, I would say 3/5 stars.

Similar products : For an electronical ITR, you have the Spider Pen Pro, for a mechanical one, you have the Venom. My vote goes for the last one.

Customer Reviews (showing 1 - 10 of 76) Major Improvements but there are cons. Report this review Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on August 13th, 2019

Tarantula 1:
1.On/ Off Switch
2.Button below battery
3.Cheaply built
4.Battery strength lowers as battery drains
5. Hard to find watch batteries
6. Can not be used like the spider pen pro
7. Hands are required

Tarantula 2:
1.Soul Technology
2."Button"/stopping mechanism above spool
3.Much more durable and fits better
4.Constant Strength from the 1st to the
last second until battery drains
5.Rechargeable
6.Can be used like the spider pen pro
when put in shirt pocket i discovered
this by myself. This is not taught in
the dvd so if you know how the spider
pen pro works use the T2 to ur advantage
7.Optional Hands Free ( not well taught in the dvd) (scroll down)

DVD:
The video is nice but I feel like Yigal rushed through the video and skipping some important steps, luckily for me I owned tarantula 1 so I already knew how to set things up but for people that never owned the 1st one they will get annoyed and frustrated. Yigal does not go over the moving pen in tarantula 2 like he did in tarantula 1. He does go over one way to find the end of the IT if it gets lost but it requires you to waste product.

Reccomendations:
1. I would reccomend NOT to lock the IT onto the bottom of the spool because there is a 10 second timer for the soul technology. If the the IT is pulled all the way out and the timer shuts off you will not be able tl reactivate the pull because it can not be pulled out any longer and you will need to manuallly respool what is already out (I learned the hard way). Instead just use the locking mechanism/ button that i mentioned earlier which replaced the on/ off switch from tarantula1.

2. If the IT breaks and is sucked in just take out the spool and blow and twist it until the IT pops out ( try at different angles)

3. For the hands free method hook it up to the object then drop the tarantula2 in pocket. Hook the IT that is protruding from ur pocket onto your hand and continue as if the tarantula is still in your hand (works better for the mint due to it being light weight). You will still be able to move the object vertical and horizontally. I explained this because Yigal barely goes over the method.

4. For the ring do not break anything, just hold onto the spectators hand after it lands in the spectators finger so that she doesn't pull away, proceed to show her hand to the crowd, pull the ring off the finger and detach goo.

Absolutely great. I've only played around with it for a day and I've come up with so much things you can do with this. You can perform the floating bill on the same day you receive your Tarantula 2 because it's just so easy yet so astonishing. But other tricks do require some practice. Although Yigal gives you a generous amount of IT and wax, I'd still recommend getting extra wax and Spider Thread along with this because in a week you'll need to buy it anyway. Here are the links for the products mentioned above:

Mesika Wax - http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/1976
Spider Thread - http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/1973

I'm very statisfied with the product. I have never done anything with IT reels until now. This is perfect for hobbyists and professionals. Highly recommend this.

24 of 27 magicians found this helpful. Cheap construction, unwieldy, awkward Report this review Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on September 1st, 2021

I see all the raving reviews but I have issues. So, I want to address something. The reason this thing doesn't fit on the finger is that the motor actually takes up all the space leaving very little for the finger. The finger can't fit so to hang onto the gimmick your hand must remain in a semi awkward position and I find it uncomfortable. Also, because of the cheap construction the plastic edges around where the thread comes out are hard and can be sharp enough to break thread. I remedied this with some scotch tape to give a smoother edge for the thread to glide across. I get much more out of the Spider Pen Pro. Same kinds of effects, less hassle. With the pen there's no need to bring it in and out of play. Nothing to ditch.

The release took a while but the wait was worth it!! I really liked Tarantula 2 and it is everything I was expecting. There isn't a DVD but a link to see the explanations. The effects are well explained by Yigal and I think that they are clear enough for those who have some experience working with IT. The IT is surprisingly thin and strong and difficult to see, of course in the good conditions (like every IT).
The battery duration is good, and a charging cable is included in the box. I don't know if it's normal but my battery moves a little bit, like if it wasn't glued enough but well thats not a big issue but I though relevant to mention.
If the IT breaks is really easy to put it back.
Talking about the "hands free" is doable but there is a small issue that I'll explained bellow.

So why 4 stars? Well there are a few factors:
- The motor is fast enough but not that strong, you can lift a bill but not a bicycle card.
- You canot download the tutorial from Yigal's website
- These two first factors are important but "I can live with that" I put 4 stars essentially because of the "lock button". I don't know if I am the only one to have some problems whit it. In my opinion, the "lock button" is not actually a "lock button" since you have to keep pressing with the finger all the time to lock the IT, giving the hand an unnatural look, since you need a lot of strength to do it!! So I use other ways to lock the IT with my fingers to prevent that.
That of course is a problem for the hands free part because once you are in your set up and you put the device in (secret part) as explained "there is not a hand there to lock the IT" so the object must be heavy enough to prevent the IT to return to the device. So there is a small problem while levitating light objects with the hands free configuration.

Besides this last point, Tarantula 2 is perfect, is a practical device to work with IT, I loved it and I think that is absolutely worth it.

I totally recommend this product to those who have some experience and love working with IT. It is practical as well for beginners but i recommend first to get used to classic IT work to avoid breaking the IT with the Tarantula 2 and buying a lot of spools :P

I'm a semi-pro magician, but I don't do too much IT work. That is, until now! Every once in a while I'll use the UFO Whirling Card, and then I once tried a BOSS ITR and quickly got rid of it. Then, I saw the trailer for Tarantula II. It looked amazing! I pre-ordered it back in April 2017 and I just received it yesterday! There is no DVD, but it comes with an online video link and code. I immediately watched it before I handled the gimmick. The video does a decent job explaining things, although I wish there was more content and better video angles as to see the handling of the gimmick during performance better. It's about 30 min long.

As far as the gimmick goes, it is very well made and I love that it has a rechargeable battery! The motor is completely silent and does not vibrate! If I hadn't been told, I would have never thought there was a motor in there!

Once I took it out of the box, I couldn't believe how easy it was to use! I think I might even buy a second one just to have! I will definitely be adding Tarantula II to my close-up gigs and I even have some ideas on how I could use it for stage performances! Tarantula 2.0 is a must if you're actively performing!

The design and quality of the device are good but it does make a noticeable noise and is not very comfortable.

The effect is truly extraordinary. I love the fact that I can pull objects on the table at any restaurant. The only missing side is, the plastic quality of the product. I think the quality of plastic isn't enough for a $ 75 product. The edges of the gimmick are very rough. So it can sometimes be difficult to work with IT.
I would prefer to use a higher quality plastic.
I liked it anyway.

I really like the product, and it can do everything like in the demo video. I especially like the hands free method. Making a ring float and moving around with my hands completely free? Amazing! Just please don't forget to unwind the thread (like I did) after you preform hovering ring or lifesaver. Your thread will break like crazy if you spin the ring at the same direction all the time and don't unwind the thread.
I had some issues when the thread got broken and I couldn't find the beginnning. Yigal teaches you how to deal with that problem but still, it makes you loose thread.
If you are a beginner at ITR I highly recommend to get some extra ITR, because I spent mine when the thread broke about 8 times.
I think that tarantula should include at least 2 extra spools with it. But the thread should not break so much when you get more comfortable with it.

I have waited to write a review until I had a chance to use it for an extended period of time. This is definitely an improvement from the original Tarantula. The hands free method is tremendous. It allows you to end very very clean. I have no idea what some reviews are talking about when they mention there is no hands free method - there most definitely is. Many times I place the Tarantula in my pocket after setup and walk around ready to go and float a ring.

Not only is the gimmick so small that working without is like doing microscopic surgery, but the gimmick itself is not totally secure when using it.
Sorry but I had high hopes but this was not what I expected from a great magician.
