The Role of Sasuke's Curse Mark Design in his Journey of Redemption

By admin

The curse mark design of Sasuke Uchiha is an iconic and visually striking element of the Naruto series. Introduced during the Chunin Exams arc, the curse mark plays a crucial role in Sasuke's character development and overall story. The design of the curse mark is intricate and detailed, reflecting the dark and mysterious nature of its power. It starts as a small, black, four-pointed star on the left side of Sasuke's neck, with jagged lines extending from it. As the curse mark progresses, it spreads across Sasuke's body, covering his left arm and shoulder with a pattern of snake-like scales, making it appear as if he is partially transformed into a demonic creature. The curse mark design is inspired by the mythical creature known as the "Curse Mark of Heaven," which is said to grant immense power to its bearer but also consumes their soul.

What is cooler, the cursemark or karma?

PS. Both of those punk wannabes in pic look like that they could use a swift punch in the face.

Tempted to say Karma just because of the goofy lipstick that came with Sasuke's curse mark transformation

CM has more variety, but i prefer Karma.

If this is about which has cooler abilities.
I would pick karma easily.
Flight (without hand wings), attack nullification, chakra absorbtion, dimension warping, a base stat boost etc

Design wise
Curse mark level 1 was cool :

Karma level 1 isn’t that different. Tattoos on half of the body.

But the level 2 of the curse mark is one of the ugliest transformation we have between the wings with nails, the lipstick, the hair and the weird grayish skincolor.

For Karma level 2, it’s not that different from level 1 except for the horn (and the byakugan for Boruto)

Power wise:
Karma gives you a whole set of new powers. For the curse mark, it’s more subtle.

Conclusion, in term of design, Karma definitely, in term of powers, I can’t really say.

Karma
Curse mark turns you into an animal thing. The karma turns you into a god.

Cursemark is more versatile in design but karma has better powers tho it is a far greater risk to the user. Overall I prefer karma but I did like the designs of kimimaro and tayuya in their CS2 more than I like karma's design.

In partial stage and full body I prefer curse mark because of it variety but in v2 I prefer karma

AllheavenParagon

Smooth Criminal

I prefer Karma, the black markings in CS V1 are too squiggly looking for my tastes, looks weird.

As for the V2 form, it makes you look like a drag queen, so nah.

Abilities wise, still Karma. Chakra absorbtion alone is OP, add in Space-Time jutsu and it's a wrap.

Curse mark for V1, but mostly Sasuke's version.

Karma for V2 because the curse mark designs are hit or miss, even tho I don't really like the outsutsuki horns either.

Also referred as Wagebee or Swagebee and Leader of Himagang or Himahive
I will say cursemark since it's more of a menacing looking ability

LawdyLawd

Lord of Lords

Stage 1: Curse Mark
Stage 2: Karma

Curse mark had better portrayal as something bad and with consequence.

Karma just felt like a power up up until it was stated the alien would take over and erase you.

It has a high chance of killing its targets so only the most reliant of people are able to handle it.

It enhances the users Jutsu and allows them to improve upon their already present abilities instead of just granting them new powers. So the users remain more unique from one another.

As a devise to manipulate and control its user, the Curse Mark is far more invasive and damaging to the character. Accepting pain for corrupted Chakra that slowly degrades the mind but dramatically increases power.

I just think in all aspects but power, its better.

- V1 Karma and V1 Cursed Seal are both good;

- V2 Cursed Seal is a bit ugly on most of the shown characters, V2 Karma is cooler;

So design overall Karma wins.

Cursed Seal doesn't really do anything other than amping everything up. while at least Karma, on top of powering stuff up, gives a few cool abilities like absorption and teleportation.

So overall Karma wins in variety of powers.

So overall Karma.

Is Curse Mark Level 2 Sasuke the goofiest transformation to come out of Naruto

I hate Sasuke, but I always liked the weirdness of his Cursed Seal 2 form.

I wish a few others went further with their transformations. Sasuke, Kimimaro, and Kidomaru were the best ones since they just got strange.

I like the idea of Sage Mode, but it's super boring in practice. The frogs acting as support is the best aspect of it.

The hand wings are gross but kind of cool to me in a what-if-humans-had-wings kind of way I guess. Like it's a gross transformation but it works for me because of how gross it is.

Yeah. It looks good because, I'm not gonna say it's realistic, but if humans had skin wings, that's how they would like. Not like Sephiroth where it's a cool black wing, but a flesh colored ugly wing.

I think you're missing the point here. Doffy didnt laugh at it because he thought it looked stupid, he was laughing because of the the thought of Luffy being able to fight him in that form was laughable to him (which turn out to be a fruitless effort in his part to downplay Gear 4th). To the readers, it looks stupid/silly and that's the point; as it's the point that other characters in the series like Weevil or Senor Pink look stupid. Now whether you're into that or not is all personal preference, but I personally love Oda doesnt satiate the demands of the mainstream audience and he still manages to make one of the best selling comics of all time. Really makes One Piece standout as a unique series.

Well, I was talking about how fan's reaction to Luffy, not doflamingo's. When it was first shown, half of people complained that it looks awful and half of people liked it because it was goofy. I disagreed with both in that most I thought it just looked like a normal OP design. Stupid looking, but not amusingly so, so it Gear 4 Luffy just looks blandly bad to me. And it's not just characters like weevil or senor pink. I'd say Doflamingo, Katakuri, and Kaido all look dumb too. More sharper angles are used to draw them, so they look a bit edgier, but otherwise in terms of design, they all look kinda bad to me, with some cool aspects.

Edit: Maybe bad is pushing it, but my point is they all look comically exaggerated in different ways. So, in the context of OP, they look somewhat good, but I dislike the exaggerations without the context of OP.

But as far as Doflamingo's reaction, that makes equally little sense. Dude uses string and he uses it to stab people with the ends of it. It's a universe where everyone, including several of his own crew, has outlandish powers that make no practical sense in how they're used, but somehow do massive damage anyway. Maybe it's like you said and he was just trying to psychologically calm himself, but that's the only explanation for why he'd think Luffy couldn't fight him like that as if he'd be the first one with a weird fighting technique in this world.

Reviews for "The Extent of Sasuke's Control over his Curse Mark Design"

I have to say, I was really disappointed with Sasuke's curse mark design. It just didn't live up to my expectations. I was hoping for something more unique and intricate, but instead, we got a simple black tattoo-like mark. It lacks creativity and doesn't really add any depth to Sasuke's character. Overall, I think they could have done a much better job with the curse mark design.
2. Michael - ★☆☆☆☆
I found Sasuke's curse mark design to be underwhelming and unoriginal. It looks like a generic tribal tattoo that you can find on any internet search. Considering the importance of the curse mark in the story, I expected a more impactful and visually stunning design. The lack of creativity in its appearance made it hard for me to take the curse mark seriously as a powerful symbol. It's a shame because Sasuke's character had so much potential and this design just fell flat.
3. Sophia - ★★☆☆☆
I wasn't a fan of Sasuke's curse mark design. It felt like a missed opportunity to explore a more intricate and visually captivating design. The simplicity of the mark didn't do justice to the significance it held within the storyline. I think they could have added more unique elements to make it stand out and reflect the dark nature of the curse. Overall, I believe the curse mark design could have been much better and more visually appealing.
4. Adam - ★☆☆☆☆
Sasuke's curse mark design was a disappointment for me. It lacked originality and depth. The simplicity of the design didn't match the complexity and intensity of the storyline. It felt like a last-minute addition that wasn't given much thought. I expected something more visually striking and iconic. Unfortunately, the curse mark design fell short of my expectations and left me feeling underwhelmed.
5. Olivia - ★★☆☆☆
I have to say, Sasuke's curse mark design was quite underwhelming. It didn't have the impact I was hoping for in terms of visual representation. The mark itself lacked complexity and looked like a generic tattoo. I think they missed an opportunity to create a design that would have reflected the dark nature of the curse and added depth to Sasuke's character. Overall, I was left wanting more from the curse mark design.
