What educators are saying

This was a great resource to supplement an APUSH lesson on the Salem Witch Trials. I particularly liked the "eulogy" assignment at the end as it required students to analyze both primary and secondary sources to write about a victim of their choosing.

Reviews for "The Accused: Netflix Sheds Light on the Lives of the Salem Witch Trial Defendants"

- Jessica - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with this docuseries on the Salem witch trials. I found it to be incredibly slow-paced and the storytelling felt disjointed. The interviews with historians were informative, but they didn't flow well with the reenactments and archival footage. Overall, I felt like there was a lack of cohesion and it made it difficult to stay engaged throughout the entire series.
- Michael - 1 star - I couldn't even finish watching this docuseries on the Salem witch trials. The production quality was poor and the reenactments were cheesy and over-dramatized. It felt like they were trying to make a horror movie instead of a historical documentary. Additionally, the narration was monotonous and lacked depth. I expected a lot more from Netflix, but this was a major disappointment.
- Sarah - 2 stars - While I appreciate the effort to shed light on an important period in American history, I found this docuseries on the Salem witch trials to be lacking in substance. The information presented was elementary and didn't offer any new insights or perspectives. It felt like a rehashing of the same old stories without delving deeper into the social and cultural context of the time. I wish they had taken a more critical and scholarly approach to this topic.
