The character of the Regent in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe holds a significant role in the story. Either way, the setting doesn't fit with Don Taylor's otherwise fine translation when it alludes to stonings and Antigone's being buried alive for her transgressions. Creon's Thebes is closer, surely, to a Taliban regime.
Who would have thought a few years ago, when sylvan delights outweighed dramatic surprise in the park, that you would hear anger rising from this theatre, and see a company so drilled and determined that it looks like a spike cleaving a stage and a nation apart. The kindly prof Brian Protheroe is suggesting how his wartime wards Lucy and her evacuee siblings four youthful-looking actors might find their way back to the magical kingdom of Narnia.
Additionally, the Regent symbolizes the ultimate triumph of good over evil, as he plays a crucial role in the final battle against the White Witch. His unwavering loyalty to Aslan and his commitment to protecting Narnia highlight his admirable qualities as a ruler and mentor.
