EVENTS
PoeFest is celebrating its 15th year commemorating the works of Edgar Allan Poe, and you can be a part of it all at multiple locations throughout Phoenix, Arizona this October. PoeFest has been a labor of love for a decade. When PoeFest first opened, it did so to just six audience members. With a packed audience on the third night, they knew they had something special. The fest includes mainstage productions of Poe’s short stories every weekend during the month of October with Poe’s stories rotating nightly. PoeFest usually culminates on Halloween night with ‘The Raven’ at Rosson House Museum. But there’s something extra special about PoeFest that makes Bookmans honored to be a sponsor!

STUDENT WRITING COMPETITION
Short Story Contest
- All Arizona students in the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades for the 2023-2024 school year are eligible.
- Home-schooled students are eligible.
- Student authors must be residents of the State of Arizona.
- The submission deadline is Midnight on October 29, 2023.
- All short story submissions must be between 1,000 and 7,500 words.
- The themes for short stories must stick to the genres of horror and/or mystery.
- Stories must be original.
- Authors retain all copyrights.
- Revised previous submissions accepted.
- Submissions can be made in electronic form ([email protected].) Word document or PDF formats only, please.
- All submissions must include the email and phone number of a parent or guardian. All authors must have the permission of a parent or guardian to participate.
- All submissions must include the author’s name, birthdate, school, and grade for the 2023-2024 school year. (Home-schooled students are welcome.)
- One winner will be declared and notified via email and/or phone on October 31st, 2023. Public Notifications on social media pages will be posted after contact with winners. Initials of winners will be posted and the city they are from.
- All submissions will be adjudicated by a panel of judges.
- Prize packages will be provided by Bookman’s Entertainment Exchange.

I was really disappointed with Nearest Wiccan Bookshop. The selection of books was very limited and outdated. I was hoping to find some new and interesting reads, but everything seemed old and worn out. The staff was not very helpful either, they seemed disinterested in assisting me and were not knowledgeable about the books they had. Overall, I would not recommend this bookshop to anyone looking for a good and engaging Wiccan literature.

While Nearest Wiccan Bookshop has a decent variety of books, I found the prices to be way too high. Considering that many of these books can be easily found elsewhere for a much cheaper price, it was disappointing to see the marked-up prices in this bookshop. Additionally, the staff was not very friendly or welcoming. They seemed distant and unhelpful, making my overall experience quite underwhelming. I would suggest exploring other options before visiting this bookshop.

Nearest Wiccan Bookshop left a lot to be desired. The atmosphere was dull and uninspiring, which made browsing for books quite unexciting. The staff was unfriendly and seemed more focused on their personal conversation rather than attending to customers. The book selection was also mediocre, lacking some of the popular and contemporary Wiccan literature I was hoping to find. I left feeling disappointed and would not visit this bookshop again.
