It meets The Stepford Wives in this wildly compelling story that explores whether it’s possible to recapture the magic of childhood friendship and what happens when you discover the darkness hiding underneath your memories. White’s writing is guaranteed to hook you. Be careful cracking this open; Mister Magic will pull you in like a riptide.”—Mallory O’Meara, Los Angeles Times bestselling author of The Lady from the Black Lagoon

“I found myself thoroughly drawn in by Mister Magic, a unique thriller with a compelling cast of characters whose past hides long-buried secrets.”—Karen Cleveland, New York Times bestselling author of Need to Know

In this skin-crawling story of pop culture fandom and 90s nostalgia, Kiersten White fully delivers on her gripping premise the troubled reunion, thirty years later, of the cast of a magical kids show that exists only in its viewers memories. But with no surviving video of the show, no evidence of who directed or produced it, and no records of who--or what--the beloved host actually was, memories are all the former Circle of Friends has.

Mister magic vook

From bustling markets to mystical forests, readers can easily visualize every scene, allowing their imagination to run wild. Throughout the vook, Mister Magic encounters a diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique stories and motivations. From mischievous fairies to wise old sorcerers, these individuals add depth and intrigue to the narrative, making readers eager to uncover their secrets.

Mister Magic

Grappling with religious trauma and childhood abuse, this suspenseful tale from White (Hide) calls to mind old-school internet creepypastas. Val leads a quiet life on a ranch with her ailing father. She has no contact with the outside world or memory of her childhood. After her father dies, strange men approach her claiming that, as kids, they were all costars on cult-classic children’s show Mister Magic. Now a podcaster wants to interview them about the show, which ended after a mysterious tragedy, and all the previous cast members are invited. Even as Val slowly comes to terms with the strangeness of her lost childhood, her unexplained memory loss, the secrets kept by her possibly untrustworthy costars, and the marvels made by the theoretically CGI star of the show, Mister Magic himself, all hint at some greater, possibly supernatural conspiracy. Transcripts from fan forums interspersed throughout only enhance the ambiguity surrounding what exactly ended the show—and whether the show ever existed. These questions keep the pages flying on the way to a climax that satisfies even while not delivering typical horror action and gore. Both eerie and surprisingly heartwarming, White’s examination of the perils of nostalgia is sure to win fans. Agent: Michelle Wolfson, Wolfson Literary. (Aug.)

- Christina - 2 stars - "I was really disappointed with 'Mister Magic Book'. The storyline was all over the place, and it was difficult to understand what was happening half the time. The characters weren't well developed, and I found myself not caring about their fate. The writing style was also lacking, with simple and repetitive language. Overall, it was a frustrating and underwhelming read."
- John Doe - 1 star - "I couldn't even finish 'Mister Magic Book' - it was that bad. The plot was confusing and convoluted, with too many unnecessary subplots that added nothing to the story. The pacing was incredibly slow, and there were long stretches where nothing seemed to be happening. The writing itself was also subpar, with awkward dialogue and clunky descriptions. I regret wasting my time on this book."
- Sarah - 2 stars - "I had high hopes for 'Mister Magic Book' based on the reviews, but it fell short of my expectations. The writing was decent, but the characters were one-dimensional and lacked depth. The plot felt predictable and lacked originality. It was also hard to connect with the story and the events happening within it. Overall, it was an unremarkable and forgettable read for me."
