Mister Magic is a jazz fusion album by Grover Washington Jr., a renowned saxophonist and composer. The album was released in 1975 and is considered one of Washington's most successful and influential works. The title track, "Mister Magic," became a major hit and helped to establish Washington as a force in both the jazz and R&B genres. The song features smooth and catchy melodies, with Washington's saxophone taking center stage. The track also includes a memorable solo by guitarist Eric Gale, adding to its appeal.
I did not know anything about this guy when I bought the record, just thought the cover looked cool. But it's actually one of my most played records now, amazing stuff!
Mister Magic , one of Washington s best-known compositions, avoids disaster with a strongly lyrical melody that even James canned brass hits can t ruin. This release used the US platters and sound exactly like the original US released except that the quality of this pressing is stellar where the US could be quite noisy.
The track also includes a memorable solo by guitarist Eric Gale, adding to its appeal. Apart from the title track, the album also includes several other standout compositions. "Black Frost" showcases Washington's ability to blend elements of jazz, funk, and soul, creating a distinct and captivating sound.
