Bombers gear-up for game against Argos
The message is simple - Blue Bombers Head Coach Paul LaPolice wants his team to do it again.
Winnipeg's impressive 31-2 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders reminded the under-achieving Bombers of what it takes to win.
"We talked about it with our players. Consistency breeds execution, execution breeds success and that's what we're trying to accomplish," said LaPolice.
If the Bombers can earn a win against the Argonauts in Toronto on Sept. 19, it would be the first back-to-back wins and first road victory of the season.
It would also help the Bombers playoff hopes. At 3-7, a victory over their division opponent would be a 4-point gain in the standings.
"We need this game," said offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte after practice Thursday.
"Obviously we were in a similar situation at the start of the year when we had a win and then played the Argos and didn't get the out come we wanted. We want to make sure we don't repeat that performance."
What the Bombers do want is another stand-out performance by Fred Reid.
The running back wracked up a season-high 148 yards against the Roughriders, recording two touchdowns. While Reid made some of his own magic, Reid is quick to acknowledge he received a strong performance by the offensive line which is finally operating at full strength after being hampered by injuries.
"They are coming together, gelling, getting used to a lot of things the coaches have been putting in. Its just repetition, we get a lot of reps and they can get better," said Reid.

"Injuries kind of took a toll on us but we've got everybody back and we've been working hard on communication. That's the biggest thing between the five of us out there. It was nice to see Fred have a big game. He took a little heat early on so to get the monkey off Fred's back and get everybody happy is nice. We just see him go by and try to catch up," said LaBatte.
